Finally decided to head over to Somm on a nice Friday night! We're thinking this could be our calm before the storm(ice/snow). We find 2 out of 7 open seats at the bar and take them! We wait for about 5 min for someone to notice 2 new faces in the seat and clean up the space, nothing. A couple comes in and sits at 2 more empty seats beside me. What do you know, they were warmly welcomed, given water, and small conversation! Meanwhile, we are still sitting there! Finally 9 minutes after sitting, our area is cleaned, we are given water! The employee never introduced herself so I don't have her name. I did ask, but I'm guessing she didn't hear me as I didn't receive a response! So next, she proceeds to take the couple next to us order, when the lady says no they were here first, take care of them. The employee then asks if we knew what we wanted.... We mentioned how it was our first time here..... still nothing! No great to have you, what do you like... if you want my recommendations.... Nothing to make the evening memorable enough for us to return. She poured our flights, and a separate glass of Prosecco for each of us, and that was the most interaction we got from her. She was super chatty with the couple. I asked to try the Chardonnay, she poured it, again nothing else. No, rundown of the Chardonnay, no "what do you think" "anything else" just nothing. So there we sat, pondering "What the world? Did we offend? This can't be how customer service usually goes?" I asked "came we get our checks when you get a chance," she didn't ask if it was together or separate, just brought one, placed it there and walked off. We waited over 5 min for her to come back, she didn't. While waiting another employee couldn't stop talking about cheese to another customer long enough to ask if there was anything we needed. I mean we're sitting there for 5 min as he chatters on and on about cheese, with a check on the counter and no drink in our glass. You would think he would have said oh cheese whiz, is there anything I can get you ladies? We had to flag down another employee to ask that the check be separated and to check us out. She asked me to come down the bar to tap to pay, then after I was there she said well I can bring it to you, that's easier. Go figure. For a Friday night, it was pretty chill, not busy/crowded. Shocked to see kids are allowed in. Prices are good. Definitely expected it to be on the pricier side due to location. We did enjoy our flight and our glass of Prosecco. The place was really clean. The bathroom was well stocked and the actual linen towels are an added touch. Customer service goes a long way and it really fell short last night. Wouldn't be up for experiencing that again.

Kevin served us during our visit has he is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend requesting him if you can! He really knows his wine and adds to the incredible experience. Wine selection is superb and charcuterie options are exceptional. I highly recommend Somm.

I attended the grand opening yesterday evening and there were lots of people in attendance showing support for the new wine bar. They provided small flute's of champagne for guest at the entrance upon arrival, this was a cute gesture. Parking was difficult due to the number of people in attendance. The bar was huge, the material that it was constructed of was beautiful, it looked like marble but may not have been. The wine menu was nice however myself and some other patrons became quickly acquainted and discussed that we wanted a sweet wine or champagne, there wasn't one on the menu, mostly dry wines. The closet option was the Rose which had only a hint of sweetness. I ordered the hummus and brioche to accompany my wine, I love their hummus it was really good. My only issue was upon being seated I had to wait quite a while for a menu, and for someone to offer assistance, because this was opening night, maybe things weren't quite organized. I had a nice time sipping rose and socializing with others at the bar. Wine flights range from $16.00 to $ 20.00 and consist of 3 two ounce pours. FYI. The space is well put together and I loved the array of seating options from traditional tables, to a nice lounge area with couches, and even patio seating. I thought the huge wall filled with wines behind the bar was gorgeous. I hope in the future they will offer specials on flights that offer greater variety and maybe add some additional menu options.

Tons of parking, of course, it is a large grocery chain. Parking is shared with other businesses in the area. The store parking lot and inside were extremely clean and well laid out. Granted, this is a new location, but you can see the hard work that the team put in to keep the store looking fantastic. Don't you love it when a business team member goes out of their way to make things right? That's exactly what the very nice lady at the bakery did this morning (I did not catch her name). She went out of her way to find me some bran muffins, and cracked open a package that had already been sealed from their bakery, Just so that I could have that Muffin! How cool is that?! Walking around at the store, I was asked by three different team members if I needed help. Awesome and appreciated! The deli and hot food service is the bomb! Fresh and hot and great selection. The fresh produce department was beautiful as always, seems to be the case with Harris Teeter. We will be coming back to this store specifically because of this interaction and experience.

About the only thing I like about this store is the bar with live music some days but makes me think what kind of wine am I getting. We actually stumbled upon Luxe Bar & Bistro while planning to head downtown, but a bridge closure caused major traffic, so we decided to change plans and just find somewhere local to enjoy a holiday cocktail. After checking reviews online, Luxe Bar & Bistro stood out, so we decided to give it a try -- and we're so glad we did. They have a large outdoor space, but of course, it started to rain as soon as we arrived. Luckily, they also have a covered front patio with a few chairs, which worked out perfectly. We each ordered two cocktails. I started with Under the Mistletoe -- Tito's, house-made rosemary simple syrup, lemon juice, topped with soda ($10). This was hands down the most delicious holiday drink I've had so far this season. It was refreshing, perfectly balanced, and hit the spot. I also tried the seasonal special, a Pomegranate Cranberry Sangria ($10), which was equally good. My husband ordered the Tipsy Grinch-- Malibu rum, mango purée, blue curaçao, pineapple juice, and soda water ($9.50). He said it was sweet but not overly sweet and really enjoyed it. He also had the Dirty Snowman Martini with RumChata, Disaronno Amaretto, vanilla vodka, and a cinnamon sugar rim ($13). He substituted almond milk for the half-and-half, and it was still creamy and delicious. We also had a great conversation with Natalie and quickly realized we had a lot in common, especially when it comes to dogs and the importance of pet safety. I always love meeting a fellow dog mom who shares the same values. The service and ambiance were excellent, and the space was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We will 100% be back -- and next time, we definitely plan on trying the food.

We brought Luna along and sat on the patio, which was a nice option. I would love to see heaters added outside to make the patio more comfortable on cooler nights. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I ordered the Fireside Chat (served warm), made with Four Roses Bourbon, Croft Tawny Port, apple cider, orange juice, grenadine, turbinado sugar, allspice, and clove ($15). I really enjoyed the flavor profile--warm, well-balanced, and perfect for the season. That said, I was a little disappointed that my second drink wasn't garnished nearly as nicely as the first, especially given the price. Flavor-wise, though, both were very good. My husband started with the Gingersnap, which includes Monkey Shoulder blended Scotch whisky, Disaronno almond liqueur, butterscotch liqueur, spiced ginger syrup, heavy cream, Angostura bitters, cookie rim, and nutmeg ($16). He enjoyed it but felt it was definitely a one-drink cocktail due to how sweet, creamy, and heavy it was. He also ordered the Smoked Maple-Bacon Old Fashioned with bacon fat-washed bourbon, spiced maple syrup, tobacco bitters, and a salted brown sugar rim ($16). This one was a miss for him--too sweet, with the maple and smoke overpowering the drink, and not much bacon flavor coming through. That said, the presentation was excellent; watching the smoke being lit was a highlight, and I even grabbed a video of it. Our total came to about $71 before tip, and we didn't order any food, so it's definitely on the pricier side. Still, for the ambiance, creative cocktails, and overall experience, I think it's worth it--especially for a relaxed night out with a more elevated feel.

However, to look at it in a positive light, I get to explore the area while somewhat knowing the "lay of the land," so to speak. Thus, when my uncle came up from Jacksonville and asked where we could go for a couple glasses of wine I had no clue, thus asking google. The place that I really liked was Accent on Wine. When I first pulled off Dorchester Rd, I thought I had bad directions b/c there wasn't much that set it apart - ie curb appeal from a distance. That all changed opening the door! Walking in the first thing you'll notice is the compact yet quaint wine selection. I love this type of atmosphere as appeals to my snobbish wine nature. The tables and floors are rustic, gleaming with multifunctional utilization that were obtained from an estate sale in the far country. The ceiling is a hybrid of open and closed exposure, being tastefully yet frugally composed. Decore is minimal yet tasteful yielding it's way to open white wall space. It's very tastefully thought out. Finally, as a lover of all things 80s, the music was spot on. Adam Ant, Depeche Mode and Flock of Seagulls really created an upbeat ambiance. I sat down then after watching other patrons I realized that ordering beverages and/or food meant you have to go to the bar offset on the right. No problem as I'm willing to engage in a new experience. Talking with the very nice bartender, it's set up this way to have the limited staff focus on important items like slinging suds or grapes and not inconvenienced with the complexities of life such as WALKING. I joke and I have no problem with the setup. Again, I want to reiterate the staff here are excellent; knowledgably in the menu and being able to engage in bar talk. If one were to consider Cheers as a reference point: the good attributes of Sam, Cliff and Norm mixed into two people. I literally just came from eating at La Minerva and while I would have loved to sample their menu I wasn't hungry. However, I did opt for a glass of wine. As stated before I love wines and more specifically red wines from either Bourdeau, Burgendy or Rhone and "son on a gun" they had a Cote-du-Rhone Villages 2022. To fill you guys in, I just moved from Austin TX and almost no where I went could you buy a French red wine by the glass, so pardon my elation! The wine was really good with a balance of black current, cherry and licorice while slowly melding on the tongue, rounding out the experience to a smooth landing. Not pretentious, not overpowering just a mellow experience while having enough tannis to poke you if you wanted to forget. Overall, I love this joint, my style of low-key, sophistication, supply of items I like and while there weren't many people there, the vibe was a mixture of life: whether it's sitting and relaxing or a more energetic affair. I'm extremely curious what the atmosphere is like in terms of more people hanging out and also the food. Today call me Arnold b/c "I'll be back...."

We recently hosted our daughter's First Communion celebration at Ophelia's Wines & Bites, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. Throughout the planning process, numerous promises were made regarding setup assistance, décor, staffing, food portions, beverage service, and overall event coordination that were either not followed through on or changed entirely by the day of the event. Family members and guests ended up handling many tasks that we were told would already be completed, including decorating, organizing tables, lighting candles, and addressing missing items while guests were arriving. Food portions were much smaller than represented during the tasting, several items we expected to be included were charged separately, beverage service was poorly managed, and there was little to no actual table service despite paying for what was presented as an "all-inclusive" event experience. Most upsetting was the lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability afterward. We spent a significant amount of money expecting professionalism and hospitality, but left feeling stressed, embarrassed, and taken advantage of during what should have been a very special day for our daughter. I am sharing this simply so others thoroughly clarify ALL expectations, pricing, staffing, setup responsibilities, food quantities, and service details in writing before booking an event there.
