Who doesn't love a waffle with ice cream? Atmosphere/Ambiance - 5/5 - This location is designed to just grab the item and go. Staff - 5/5 - Friendly. The menu is simple, but if you need recommendations, they can provide. Food/Drink - Ordered all Taiyaki, with is 5 for $9: - Nutella - 5/5 - Nutella and waffles. Must get. - Oreo - 5/5 - Oreo and waffles. Must get. - Taro - 4.5/5 - Taro and waffles. Must get if you don't want it too sweet. - Custard - 3.5/5 - I wanted to try this and it wasn't too bad. However, I would rather do Nutella and Oreo. Overall, these are great as these can't be eaten somewhat "cleanly" by the kids. I think the price 5 for $9 is really great in this day and age as well. Will definitely be back. read more

This is my go-to place for dessert when I'm in the Frisco area. Love the kiosks they have in the entrance, which make it quick and easy to order. I always get lucky when I come here as there is either never a wait or a very short one. I came here 4/29/26 and had the ube and milk soft serve, and it was amazing! The staff is very friendly and quick. The taiyaki is always hot and fresh. There isn't seating inside, but there are 2 tables outside and several benches. read more

This little ice-cream shop is known for their creative menu items. The building does not have a seated area inside, but you can stand and eat inside at a long high table. I used the kiosk to place my order and it came shortly after. There isn't anything more to it. read more

I ordered the red bean and black sesame taiyaki, and it was delicious! The taiyaki is fish shaped, and served hot and fresh! The filling of the red bean and black sesame goes so well with the fish waffle. The staff was very quick and friendly! The only thing I would say is that the store only has tables and no actual seats so you can't sit inside to enjoy unless you eat standing up. It would be nice to have seating inside, but it feels more like a to-go place. However, there are some benches outside! read more

Came here for the Upsidedown taiyaki + soft serve in a cup! I got soft serve matcha/ube in a cup for the win. It was perfect on a hot afternoon day. The flavors of soft serve and made to order taiyaki is amazing. It was nice there were two kiosks where you could put in your order. The only not-so-pleasant part of the experience was the tight spacing and standing room only while you're waiting for your order. read more

We love this quick spot - even when a line - it moves quickly and staff is always nice - attentive to us. We like the variety offered - cheese - nutella chocolate - just fun. We enjoy taking out of town visitors that have never enjoyed these - I know Costco is offering in freezer section now; but you get this hot / fresh made and we think a good price. Always makes you smile when you have a cheese waffle fish in hand. Unique shopping area with lots of shops to enjoy along with a grocery for unique items - alot of fresh items we pick up to enjoy at a good price - visit during a holiday and really enjoy some fun festive items. read more

I haven't tried to many Korean desserts, so after having lunch I searched the area and decided to give Somi a try. I kept my first time order pretty simple, trying the Ahboong which is a fish shaped waffle cone with milk flavored soft serve topped with oreo and fruity pebbles. The inside of Somi is not very large and there is no seating so it's really grab and go. I enjoyed the fish waffle, it was soft and chewy and had a slight crisp on the edges. I really liked the milk soft serve as well it was light, creamy and taste like a mild vanilla ice cream. Overall, I enjoyed Somi and would return to try the other menu items. read more

This business was featured in the Frisco travel book. I rarely eat ice cream. Had spouse drive over here after eating and In -n-out and shopping. The fish waffle comes with your soft serve combo. You pick soft serve flavor, I chose matcha Ube, you choose a flavor for fish waffle cone, I chose custard, then toppings. I chose cotton candy( think it was nerds) and Graham Cracker. My brother wanted to get Somi Somi after his graduation and we barely made it before closing. My brother, mom, and grandparents each got their icecream with a taiyaki on top. I ordered 2 pieces of taiyaki, one custard and one black sesame. However, they forgot to make my order and were starting to clean up to close the place. I had to remind them of our order and in return they made me a double order so I got 4 pieces instead. The taiyaki were warm and crispy on the outside yet fluffy and creamy from the custard within. I'm not really sure what I can add for context. The soft serve isn't overly sweet, and they have both regular and seasonal flavors. The kids working here are always pleasant and helpful. I've seen customers order at the register but they have two tablets and it seems like the employees prefer that so they can actually focus on getting the soft serve orders out. It does get busy after dinner but this entire parking lot is a mess, so if you can land a parking spot, make it worth your while and get some soft serve! It's not meant to be a sit down and enjoy your dessert kind of place. They have bar countertops without stools, so you can enjoy your dessert inside. But again, not ideal when it's busy because the place can quickly become a sardine can. Don't forget to grab plenty of napkins because the soft serve will melt and drip if you don't eat it quickly enough. I don't, so I always have this problem. Some people order the taiyaki (fish shaped waffle cone) with filling, on top of their ice cream or as a side in little boxes. I prefer it on top of my soft serve, like a pizzelle stuck in gelato. The taiyaki are made fresh on their molds. You can watch them being prepared behind the plastic shields. They've got a barely there chew to them that makes them so perfect with the soft serve. Not to mention, the outside crunch really adds to the whole experience too. Always leave room for dessert so that you can stop here and enjoy a nice cup of soft serve! read more

Went on a Sunday afternoon afternoon fortunately no lines. Loved the ube flavored ice cream in a cup and topped with toasted coconut crunch bits. Price is fair for the amount of ice cream you get! Standing only but not really a space issue. Most people are in and out very quickly. If I had more room, would have gotten the Taiyaki on top. My friend loved this flavor as well. read more

Surprisingly good value!! My wife and I ordered on the kiosk/tablets and got the upside down ahboong and it came out super fast! I got the banana milk and coffee swirl and my wife got the matcha. The flavor on both was on point! I love banana milk and the coffee flavor ended up balancing trout the swirl perfectly. Matcha had a rich flavor and wasn't bitter. There was no seating but it wasn't a problem for us personally. The quality for the price was really good and I'd definitely come back! read more

Very easy to order from here. You walk in amd go to a kiosk and order. Before you know it, your food is ready. If you'd like anything to stay crispy keep the container open, not to say the fishes soft aren't good too. But they taste so much better crispy. Here you have lots of options for fillings and there are drinks, too. The ice cream with a fishy on top is plain fun! Make sure to get one! read more

My family loves SomiSomi, it is a nice spot to grab a dessert with the family. The interior isn't large so you'll have to eat outside because there isn't any actual seating inside, but it is so worth it. The interior is always super clean and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The ice cream comes in unique flavors such as Ube and Matcha and there is also vanilla for the less adventurous. The fish shaped waffles pair well with the ice cream. You can get the ice cream with or without the fish shaped cone. Orders can be placed at the self service kiosk as they can get extremely busy especially on weekends. We have had positive experiences each time we visited and will definitely recommend them! read more

This place is the best! A friend and I stopped by after working at a nearby boba shop for a small, mid-day snack. It wasn't very busy, and it was super clean. They have screens that allow you to order and pay on your own, which gives you time to look at the menu! We got the waffle fish filled with cheese (though they have other options, including sweet fillings like nutella). It was a sweet and salty lover's dream! The employees were very nice too, and it came out fast. I had previously only been here in CA, and I was surprised to see they were in TX! I will definitely be back, and will get this again as opposed to the soft serve ice cream. read more

Regular at this place, I love the taiyaki! I think it's the best I've had in the area. You can get 5 taiyaki for ~$10 which is a lot of taiyaki and it's so good! They make it fresh and the dough is crunchy on the outside, but chewy and piping hot on the inside. It is so good! I usually get the custard and red bean filling. Both are good, but the red bean is a little on the sweet side. Perfect for me since I love sweets! The service is top notch. They make it fresh in front of you, and the guy who made mine was very attentive to the fish and shape. Everything is fast and fresh, what is there not to love? Fast service and easy to order on kiosk! You order first then it gets made right in front of you. At the end they ask which toppings you would like on it and you can pick multiple toppings. I got the matcha custard and the matcha icecream and my hubby got the banana & coffee icecream swirl with matcha custard. The custard on the inside was just okay to me not very special or amazing so next time I think I'll stick with Nutella or red bean. The icecream was very good and on point to all the flavors. I got the strawberry Bingsoo and it was just absolutely amazing. This doesn't taste as sweet as it looks and I really like that. They don't play around with strawberries. There's a whole bunch of strawberries on top and then Bingsoo and then more strawberries on the bottom! The strawberries are so fresh and refreshing. My wife and I visit SomiSomi almost every week these days - mostly for the taiyaki and once in awhile for the soft-serve ice-cream when she sees a flavor she likes. This SomiSomi location in Frisco is much smaller than the Carrollton one; there is no place to sit, but the tall tables provide an option for customers to eat on the spot. As for service, the SomiSomi staff are always friendly and super helpful, and patient in explaining when there is a new flavor too. Since we both prefer something that is less sweet, my wife would always request her taiyaki to have less fillings. There is one particular young lady in the weekday afternoon shift who always makes perfect-shaped taiyaki. It can be hit and miss depending on who makes them thou.; the attached picture is a not so good looking batch (they all taste good, but if you are ever giving them as gifts, let the cashier know ahead of time). Soft Serve Ice Cream - Good! Taiyaki - oh, so good! Smash them together and you're in SomiSomi! Get them separate, get them together and it's always a treat! This location is narrow and patrons crowd around the front. It's usually busy on the weekends, but the staff moves efficiently and quickly. The longest I've ever had to wait for my order was between 5-8 minutes. Fillings for Taiyaki are delicious, however on few occasions I had experienced where there was more cake than filling. There's also one strawberry, a Ferrero Rocher, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce to go with two fluffy pancakes. The entree is definitely well executed and fruits are fresh. Whipped cream is excellent. Overall, this place is a great place to enjoy some fluffy souffle pancakes. There's limited seating and wait times on the pancakes are anywhere between 15-20 minutes, which we appreciate because they do make them to order. The price of $13.99 for two pancakes off the premium menu felt a bit steep for the product. Experience at much better establishments, like Happy Pancake, in Shibuya or Ginza offer three pancakes with a greater quantity of whipped cream and fruits at roughly $8.25 with no expectations on tips. I understand we're in the states and this may not be a fair comparison, but the variance in both quantity and price is steep. Other than that, the product is good and worth a try.

Every time I walked by on both Saturday and Sunday, the line was out the door. After seeing how busy it was on Saturday, I honestly expected better preparation for Sunday -- especially with staffing. I finally stopped by around 8:00 p.m. Sunday night when the line wasn't nearly as long, but it still took over 29 minutes just to get an ice cream. There was only one person working the register and one person preparing all the orders on his own. That said, both employees remained calm and professional the entire time. They did not appear stressed despite the constant flow of customers, and they handled everything with patience. Major credit to them for keeping it together all weekend. Management, however, could have anticipated the volume of a large cheer competition and staffed accordingly. With better preparation, the experience could have been much smoother. Kudos to the two employees for staying composed and doing their best under tough circumstances.
