We found a listing on Facebook marketplace for a router that Natalie was selling, we reached out around 3:30pm and were told "yes we have it but we close at 4. You can come get it tomorrow if we have it still." Rude, but okay. Next morning, we let Natalie know we were on our way and would be there in about 10 minutes. We hit some traffic and didn't get there for about 15 minutes after we said we would. We walk in the door and ask for the router and Natalie says "oh I knew you were coming, but I sold it". WHAT. We hired this company to do several home repair services We were required to submit half of the bid in order to put us on the schedule. I was told at the time that they were three weeks out. I remitted payment on April 27th. Work didn't start until June 21st. The quality of craftsmanship is poor. The contractors cut my door so that it would fit into the existing frame rather than install the frame that came with the door I purchased. Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT use this company to do anything you value in your home, everything they touch, they destroy! Below is my dispute with Capital One. These clowns did nothing but damage my property and expect payment for it! Merchant name- Sometimes Spouse/ Partners Transaction date- 1 April 2022 Amount- $1440 I'm writing this letter in response to a letter I received that's dated Apr 29, 2022. I would like to continue to pursue this case as I did not receive the services I paid for and the work that was done was not in good working order and had to be repaired. -Install small dog door in exterior wall- The door was installed improperly. There was insulation sticking out and spray foam which was keeping the door from opening and closing properly. I notified the merchant that it was unacceptable. He attempted to fix it and broke 2 pieces of the hardy board on the back of my house and did not repair the dog door either. (See c3 trades notes for repair information) -Custom pet gate 1- I did not receive this item or service. -Custom pet gate 2- I did not receive this item or service. -Install exterior door with dog door- Sometimes Spouse attempted to install a 36" door into a 32" opening, in the process the door frame was destroyed. No door or doggie door was installed. Window glazing- I did not receive this item or service. -Window repair- The window trim was removed and replaced but was not painted on all sides, leaving the wood open to the elements. However, the back of the house was used as a paint pallet to attempt to color match. (See c3 trades notes for estimate cost to repair) -Grounding wire- done -Exterior gate valve repair- I did not receive this item or service. -Water heater- Employee was so intoxicated he was unable to seal the base around water heater with spray foam. -Air conditioner breaker- I did not receive this item or service. -Exterior air conditioner repair- I did not receive this item or service. -Knobs and handles- 3 of 52 cabinet pulls were incorrectly installed. 2 of the 3 cabinets were broken, all 3 were incorrectly placed, either crooked or too low. 49 pulls were not installed at all. We are so upset. We hired Max to do two patio covers. The first one was almost Ok. They completed it the wrong size and they never finished trimming the overhang but we had hired them to do a second one and they were supposed to fix it then. The second one was supposed to start on April 22 it is now June 29 and the first one is not completed and the second one is only half done. Max refuses to return phone calls and leaves it up to his employee to contact us. We have been waiting for a week now for a phone call. This is not the first time we have waited for over a week for a phone call. A job that was only supposed to take 10 days is now into two full months. Although the rain has caused complications there were many times they could have been here and even times when they said they would be here and no-show no call. Do NOT recommend Sometimes Spouse; we called them to do a deep moving clean. They sent one maid who not only skipped many areas but also broke one of a pair of unique 15 inch cylinder uplighter lamps and then TOOK the rest of it without telling either of us. I texted her as soon as I realized it was missing (a few minutes after she left) but she said she had only seen one lamp. Then I found a big broken piece under the bed and called the owners. The owner dismissed my concerns saying "I'm not saying I don't believe you but she has never done anything like that before" and said they didn't do refunds but would give me a check for $40 for the (missing/broken/stolen) lamp - which I told him did not cover it as I couldn't even find another like it and similar ones cost around $70. He also said they would send the same girl back to finish the work. I told him it was not acceptable to send the same girl who broke and stole my lamp but that's all he would offer so we finally gave in. When she came back she still denied breaking and taking the rest of the lamp and insisted there was only one lamp but admitted that she had swept up some broken pieces and said she saw a T-25 lightbulb. She denied seeing its base or 6 foot cord, which was all missing. She still didn't finish cleaning bc both times she didn't have mildew cleaner for the shower, also left several areas around whole house unfinished. It's also been over a week and though they kept MY money ($386) I still haven't received even $40 for the lamp. As an update on 3/2/2021- I had filed a complaint with the BBB and they contacted Sometimes Spouse and gave them a month to respond to my complaint. Sometimes Spouse did not respond to the complaint. This puts a negative mark on their business rating through the BBB (obviously they don't care). This business won't be open for much longer because of their terrible customer service and scamming. Here are the things you will need if you hire Sometimes Spouse: *Ashtray - so they won't have to throw cigarette butts all over your yard. *Painter's tape - so you won't have to clean paint off your unpainted surfaces. *Security guard - I told them that two specific employees were no longer permitted on my property but one of them came and entered my house unsupervised anyway. *Screwdriver - you will need to remove switchplates yourself...they just paint over or around them. *Brooms, rags, elbow grease - to clean overspray and debris from all possible surfaces. *Vacation time - best to supervise them yourself since for me they didn't seem to understand what a quality job was supposed to look like. *Plumber - all four sinks they installed left water leaking underneath. I texted and called with no response. After two days of texting finally someone responded and said my phone number was incorrectly entered into their system. Take heed to the negative reviews from both customers and former employees. Not only their reviews will speak to how they choose to run their business but you can also look at their law suits and see the type of practices they incorporate. My husband worked for this company in December, and abruptly ended his employment due to a legal issue. We were told on multiple occasions that both his checks would be mailed. One check was received and the second we were told multiple times was also mailed. When trying to contact them they would block our numbers. After months of being told it was mailed we were informed that he would no longer be paid at all for jobs that were fully completed due to the contract. We asked if that was the case to please send a copy of the contract and if it was in there then we would understand. They had both our emails to send that and nothing was sent. Max has been nice when he would respond, if he responded but he was the one who at least attempted to speak. Christy who is the one who will respond to this review even though she won't respond to messages or anything else has been completely unprofessional. She is the one blocking numbers, hanging up, and being rude. As a perspective customer it is important to not only look at customer reviews but also employees because if a company treats their people badly who are the same people making them money then you can imagine how they care for customers. Jobs that appear to be done well, are just that, an appearance because there are corners cut to save the company money even though that savings isn't passed to the customer. 3 months we have been very patient, understanding and trying very hard to come to a resolution. Luckily I have countless text messages and conversations I can provide to show how unprofessional this has been, which can be attached to the review if needed. I recently bought a home in China Spring, TX. In the purchasing contract the previous owner was to have the home professionally cleaned before we closed. As we were moving in and opened cabinets and drawers they were filthy yet the receipt for the cleaning service was on the counter with a price of $378.88. The next guy they sent to finish the job made the biggest mess ever, then he told me my expectations were too high and he didn't really know how to do tile work Max had told him to come do his best... But the work was horrible I gave them chance after chance and they canceled appointments over and over and the mess I'm left with is a nightmare. They came out one time and fixed some of the problems but it took them me hounding them for 8 months and after spending almost 20,000.00 and one year later I got a 695.00 Refund on a window they charged me for and never installed and a door and carpet stretching. I have drywall mud all over my vents and lights and windows. My kitchen sink is ruined and they painted around pictures and the paint didn't cover the previous paint. More than an hour after Max was supposed to be here to look at the job, he called and said he would be here at 2:00, but got here closer to 2:30. The work was scheduled for the next Monday at 9:00. At 8:05 that morning Max called and said he would meet his worker at my house at 10:30. The worker got here and said Max had called him a little after 10:00 and said he was on the way to get the materials, but then called a few minutes later and said he was on the way to Dallas! The worker went to get materials but couldn't get in touch with Max to okay the purchase, so he finally came back without materials. Max finally called him back and they discussed how to do the job. I really wanted to write a positive review after interacting with the office person who was wonderful and Max who gave me my quote and was wonderful, but the gentleman who they sent me did a terrible job on most of his work (they did send someone else to finish a job he left undone and he was efficient and professional). After complaining about the quality of the work, they sent the same guy who fixed it up, but left an enormous mess. I spent nearly and hour cleaning after he left and he got paint on my children's toys, beds, furniture, etc. I called to complain, not even to ask for my bill to be altered and the initial response was appropriately apologetic and I was assured I would be contacted by the owner that day regarding replacing something of ours the handyman borrowed that was completely ruined during the course of his work. Were paid a long time ago. Still not finished. Paint doesn't match and somehow it's my fault.

From June 6th through July 16th, a simple project of repairing 11 boards (most about 2-3 feet), pressure washing, and then staining the deck continued and continued and continued with unprofessional drama! With hindsight my project was bidded by the present and now past owners given to the new owners. Two of the present employees and two of newly hired employees worked this project. One was a supervisor with an assistant. They were all nice men and walked in good character and skill for my project. What took so long? Two issues, one being a "solid stain" was chosen by the company without my permission! I want a semi-transparent so I could see the grain. When I noticed what they were using I was in shock! It was orange and looked like the paint you would use on a house. They felt it would be better because of the 11 new pieces of wood of a 400 sq deck! The new owner and then office manager came over to access the damage. It was decided to pressure wash the entire deck again to get the solid off. It took weeks with FOUR employees walking away from the company!! There were a number of days with no one working. It was tedious work using two different types of remover to accomplish. So the deck was pressure washed twice with lots of frayed wood. With no one to finish the job, the office manager (now regional manager) and her husband (after his normal job) came to stain the deck with my choice of stain. On Thursday, July 12th, just before dark they stated the deck is done. They are not professionals in this area of construction. Exhausted by now, I paid them that night (the 2nd half of the bid). By Friday afternoon, I saw the deck now dry with MANY patches of lighter and darker areas~~very uneven/stain on my house/no stain in the cracks! I sent pictures to Brooke, the Regional Manager and asked them to get in touch to even up the stain. I called the office and left a message. I emailed her. No return email. On the weekend, I sent another email asking her to get in touch with me by that Monday afternoon. She has NOT responded since they were paid! As an owner of a home, I would NOT recommend Waco Sometimes Spouse to anyone wanting construction type jobs. I have not idea how the cleaning side is. Very unprofessional. We requested a move out clean for our duplex, and while we felt the quote was a little high, we needed to get the job done. After inspecting the duplex once it had been cleaned, we noticed that neither the oven nor the refrigerator had been touched. When we called, we were told appliances were $25 each extra. This felt very misleading because when we requested the quote, we were told everything from the carpet to the top of the fans was included and an extra cost for appliances was never mentioned. We would not have paid the price we did if we had known they weren't even going to clean our appliances. They ended up cleaning the oven and refrigerator for just $25. These guys took 2+ weeks for a job that should have taken 3-4 days. There was such a lack of communication and authority within the business that they ended up wasting their time and ours. They did a good enough job and it's hard to find anyone to come to our area, so we hired them again to finish our bathroom. They were paid all but $500 and have yet to finish the job. That was months ago and they have not been heard from since. They refuse to answer phones or texts. Through an email, they say they tried getting in touch with us, which is a blatant LIE, but still have not offered to finish. Why would we pay that much $ to not allow them to finish the job. Look through the reviews here, the "Max O" that claims they have done work for him and are honest, is the owner. If they are so honest, why is he putting out a false review? They are unprofessional and unethical. They were hired for a kitchen remodel which they said would take 2 weeks while at 10 weeks and counting still not even close to being done. I do realize that certain things are out of contractors control but when people would not show up for days on end and when they did, most times would only be there for 2 or 3 hours and the quality of the work was so poor it would have to be redone 2 and 3 times it is hard to remain understanding. Dealing with Max was also a challenge in the sense that it would take him days to return phone calls when he knew I was calling about something I was not happy about and when he did would have all kinds of excuses. The last straw for me was when they installed the cabinet fronts wrong. They put the glass fronts on the bottom cabinets and solid fronts on top. Also some of the cabinet doors were not painted on the inside and had to be taken down to be repainted, as well as some cabinet fronts had not been made at all. I fired them at this point.
