I searched for quite a while to find someone who was able to properly care for my son's hair, and after researching and reading through lots of reviews for a multitude of places, I decided on Something Natural Hair - and I am so glad that I did! I've learned my lesson the hard way that not everyone who says they are familiar with natural hair care, actually are. My son has very thick low porosity hair and I really wanted to make sure he was set up with the best possible person who could trim the ends and give it a little extra TLC. Before scheduling, I reached out to LaTashia with photos to see if she was familiar with working with his hair type and she was really understanding, patient, and very helpful. -- I meant to write this review the same week of his appointment, but I blinked and a whole month went by! LaTashia took such good care of my son and was so gentle with him, that he fell asleep! He was so relaxed and it made me realize that even our children need little spa days sometimes. I couldn't have asked for a better person to take care of my son's hair needs. LaTashia - I am so grateful for your partnership that day, for your care with my son's hair and his whole being, and for your conversation. I am thankful we found you and will absolutely be coming back when it's time for another trim. Wishing you all the best. read more

LaTashia not only saved my hair and scalp, she gives me a safe space to relax and recharge. I found Something Natural Hair in 2022 when I felt defeated trying to find a salon that treated natural hair well and also had good customer service. I went in for my consultation and never looked back. I have 4C curls and an ornery scalp to boot. She wasn't scared. She assured me she could handle it and she did. My hair has always been short even when flat ironed. It has grown and thrived under her care. Something Natural is always clean and has a welcoming peaceful vibe. It feels like it's my spa day when I get my hair done. I never have to worry about overlap. She always takes her time with my haircare. I felt like I already knew her when I first met her, and now I truly hope LaTashia is the last person to take care of my hair. This is where I go for self care. read more

I have found the absolute perfect stylist on my natural journey for both me and my daughter! LaTashia is natural herself, understands all things natural hair and walks with you through the process. In my initial visit, she made me feel extremely comfortable as she was informative, listened to my expectations and exceeded them. I did the big chop and LOVE IT! She made sure that I was good the whole way through. She gave needed tips on caring for my hair and was genuinely interested in knowing what I wanted. Her soft skills (natural personality) are phenomenal. She is warm, professional, positive and attentive. My 17 yr old daughter decided to have her (natural) hair done with LaTashia after experiencing my visit and seeing my results. We are both hooked and, if God says the same, we plan to be back for years to come. read more

As much I would love to keep this a secret, the service is too good not share. I have been coming to Something Natural Hair for about 3 years. I appreciate that appointments are always kept and on time. Not only is her work worthy of the cost but she is friendly and honest. I always leave feeling beautiful and seen, thank you for everything Latashia! read more

First I want to start off by saying the salon is gorgeous and LaTashia is a beautiful soul. My first visit I provided her with a honey blond picture of the look I wanted. I left paying $200 with a head full of red hair. I went back 2 weeks later for a correction and paid another $125, for a slight improvement. Still red hair. I would not recommend this salon for color, perhaps other services. I attempted calling, the salon, but it is impossible to reach anyone. The only way to communicate is via email with the owner or "the assistant". I let LaTashia know my dissatisfaction via email and she thanked me for letting her know. This is my first time ever writing a poor review for a salon, it saddens me to do so. I just think it's important to share to help others looking for similar services read more

I recommend LaTashia at Something Natural Hair at salon and my daughter LOVES the wash and hair style, the warm and relaxing atmosphere is awesome. We are going to be regular customers here for years to come! read more

I highly recommend Something Natural Hair. The salon has such a nice and peaceful ambiance. There was plenty of parking location was easy to find. Tasha is a professional hairstylist that know how to bring the best out of your natural hair . I went in for a wash and go. My hair is very thick but she made my curls pop. Her curly custard which is her product was what my hair needed. Again I highly recommend Latasha for your hair needs and good conversation. read more

Y'all! It's been such a long time since I've left a salon and loved the end result of my hair! LaTashia has such great vibes and really listened to me. She wasn't just another stylist saying she can do something just to get paid. She's super educated in different hair textures and curl patterns, which is where I felt let down with other salons. I recommend to anyone looking for someone to trust with their curls (I swear she worked some magic)! Can't recommend enough! read more

I've been looking for a stylist to give my 3B natural hair some shape and style. Unfortunately, the "curly hair" stylists I've been to in the last couple of years have had no idea of what to do with it. I came across Something Natural Hair while searching Yelp for yet another stylist, and when I read the reviews I decided to make the drive up from south of town to see if LaTashia could help me. I'm so glad I did! After talking with LaTashia about the look I was trying to achieve and showing her examples in photos, she washed and moisturized my hair and let it dry before cutting it. This allowed her to gauge how much shrinkage I could expect and where my natural part occurs. We went through multiple steps to ensure the length and shape were right, and I left feeling like a new person! I highly recommend LaTashia and Something Natural Hair! read more

LaTashia is absolutely amazing. She's a patient, kind, funny and experienced stylist. She can handle all types of hair, especially natural!! I'm normally really nervous about changing my hair, but as soon as I sat down in her chair I felt confident that she'd ensure my color turned out beautiful - which it did!! She explained everything she was doing without sounding patronizing and checked in with me multiple times along the way. I will absolutely be returning. P.S. Ask about her organic products!! They smell fantastic!! read more

I have been here twice and have absolutely loved both my hairstyles! The owner makes you feel immediately at ease. Thank you so much!

I was searching for a stylist that could guide me along my natural journey, and boy did I find a gem! This is the cutest shop located in downtown Round Rock. It is tucked away in its own little hiding space so you can enjoy some true peace and quiet. LaTashia is super professional and really shows exceptional care when styling my hair. She is really all about the natural journey. I just love her spirit and that Silk Press....YES!!!! Could not be more excited about my new stylist. read more

Something Natural Hair Salon is one of the best salons in the Austin area. I love that your appointments are scheduled in such a manner that you are the only one there giving you the personal experience. Customer Service is extremely important to me and LaTasha delivers every time. I love her professionalism and her willingness to work with my schedule by understanding that I am a career woman and sometimes my job demands last minute adjustments. The salon is well kept and organized. The products offered are amazing and represents her brand well. I highly recommend Something Natural Hair Salon. You want be sorry. Phenomenal stylist, highly professional, amazing and inspirational person. The salon space is beautiful and Modern. The service is super quick for a natural hair blow dry. She uses great products and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended. read more

Very disappointed with the customer service!! You can not rely on la toshia to be on time or even keep your appointment at all. I've gone to this salon approximately three times and not once was she on time. The first time she was running late (I was the first 8 AM appointment on a Saturday), the second time she didn't have the keys to her own salon ( had to reschedule my whole appointment after driving all the way there) and the third time I got a text 3 hours before my appointment canceling it altogether! It's very unfortunate because I felt like she did cut my hair pretty well, but I will not be returning due to the poor customer service. read more

So happy I finally found a natural hair stylist here!!! My hair was so uneven and a ugly shape but she fixed it! Now I feel so confident wearing my hair out! She was also so sweet. Definitely recommend her! read more

I reached out to them multiple times to make an appointment and never got a response.

I do want to say that La Tashia is such a friendly stylist and her boutique is beautiful. My haircut and style were not what I requested though or showed on the picture numerous times upon request. My hair was cut too short and I had to add hair after my appointment to achieve the look that I wanted. It wouldn't have been so bad overall if I didn't have to go to another beauty supply store, install the hair, cut and style myself. She did say that I could come back but she had another appointment and I sounded like an inconvenience. For a first time customer whom she knew I was not pleased with the service, I would have expected more. read more

Absolutely amazing. I scheduled a haircut for my mom, who hadn't had one since she went natural (at least two years.) We had to wait a while past our scheduled time to get started (the person before us was late), but I don't even care because LaTashia is phenomenal!!! She's friendly and my mom's hair looks incredible and it turns out that's all I care about. All the stars! read more

I have natural (no chemicals, relaxers, etc.), extra coiled, 4c hair and needed my hair cut and shaped. But, I don't trust just anyone. I called several salons & stylists recommend to me by friends. LaTashia Brown-Mitchell returned my call promptly and was friendly in setting up my appointment. I could tell that LaTashia would be good to me. She has beautiful hair! What's even better, she is was ready and waiting on me! I was greeted warmly and she was really sweet about making me feel comfortable. We chatted a bit before she got down to business with the 'fro. Her assessment was honest and thorough covering my previous experience, styling preference, coloring, and maintenance. During the cut, I had her full attention. My hair looks right again. LaTashia's work was really great and I'm really looking forward to coming in again in a few weeks. read more

I have been going to Tashia for years and truly think she is great at working my naturally curly mixed texture hair.

This was by far the best natural hair stylist I've ever been to! I happen to look up natural hair salons via google at 10am on a Friday. Something Natural Salon popped up. I took a chance and called the number. Mrs. LaTashia picked up. And suddenly I had an appointment for 1 pm. On the way to the salon, the stylist was running late and texted me that she would be 10 minuets late. I texted her back "me too!" So thumbs up for that. When she arrived, I was very pleasantly surprised that she was also a natural who wore her hair natural; her hair looked great. I was only there for a consultation but as soon as I saw her hair I knew that I was going to entrust her with cutting mine. She took a look at my hair and combed it out a bit with a wide tooth comb starting from the ends - YEAH!! After evaluating the state of my hair, I asked her to go for it. She proceeded to wash, condition, and blow out my hair like a pro I've never seen. Then kicked off the hair surgery process. The trim was fantastic! I'm very pleased! I've been natural for 8 years. Its been a struggle trying to find a natural hair salon and or independent stylist within the Austin TX area as this is not a black hub. My history is that I would find a black hair salon that had one stylist with natural hair who normally wore it straightened out. And the idea was that since they were "natural", they knew how to work natural hair. They would only blow the crap out of it leaving the roots still kinky. Then rip your hair out with the comb chase method. Mrs. LaTashia is a legit professional with lots of advice for taking care of your hair. I will continue to spread the word about her services and natural gifts. Please check her out if you are in the Austin area! read more

I love Tashia. She always does an awesome job on my hair. She is a professional and does not overbook appointments; therefore i am in and out and I don't have to spend an entire day at the beauty salon. I am truly tender-headed and Tashia is very gentle with my hair and she also uses the right tools for people with thick and tight naturally kinky hair :). Tashia is also a great person to talk and a joy to be around. I would recommend everyone to visit Something Natural, sometime soon. P.S. she is not just for naturals!!!!!!!!!!! read more

LaTashia was recommended to me by my sister when I first moved to Austin. I'd had the Big Chop and sworn off relaxers, but had no idea what to do with my short, natural hair. I went to see LaTashia when she was in another location and I can say it's been one of the best relationships I've had with a hairstylist. She's very professional and will work with you to get the styling that you want. She even recommends styles that you might never have thought of! She has experience in different natural stylings and has styled my hair from very short and curl, to beautiful dreadlocks. The ONLY reason I don't still have locs is because I made the mistake of going to SOMEONE ELSE for upkeep. That other girl (a so-called "loctician") screwed up my dreads so badly I had to take them out. Never again. If I decide to get dreads again, I'm going straight here. If you have natural Black hair and are looking for someone who is professional, experienced, and friendly, I STRONGLY recommend going to LaTashia at least once. It's been a great experience in the chair for me and I don't go to anyone else. read more

With Austin being such a large city it is so hard to find a good stylist that you can really trust. And you know what I mean ladies. REALLY trust. But LaTashia is the real deal guys. She genuinely cares about her customers and creates an environment for them to feel comfortable and beautiful. I've had long curly mixed girl hair my entire life and when I moved to Austin I was completely terrified to cut even one snip of it off, but when I found LaTashia, she helped me through every step and always reassured me whenever I started feeling nervous again. Her enthusiasm about her work is contagious and even when you're in the middle of the process, she makes you feel like the most beautiful thing that's ever stepped into her salon (because you are in her eyes). She is a very passionate individual but also maintains the perfect amount of professionalism that makes you feel like she's the real deal (because she is ya'll). She also gives really great advice! She taught me how to take maintain my natural curls and gave tips on quick and really cute ways to style my new do. She is a gem and I'm probably never going to go to anyone else. Go and book her now! :) read more

If you have naturally curly, kinky, and/or thick hair make an appointment to see LaTashia. You won't regret it. She truly understands that people with this hair type need special attention. She is a "hair artist." She takes the time to get to know her clients and discusses their needs, and then cuts your hair in a way that is most flattering to you and your features. She also walks you through the process of styling your hair so you can continue to recreate the look when you get home. She is kind and patient, a great listener, and genuinely cares about her clients and her craft. There are many stylists out there but there is only one LaTashia. Call her. You will be amazed at her skill and technique. read more

LaTashia did such a great job with my hair! Her salon studio is very cute and comfy and she always has great advice, not just about hair but life as well. I have been going to Tasha at Something Natural for almost a year now and let me tell you she is AMAZING. I decided to go natural with no perm etc... a few years ago and finding a hair stylist that knows how to deal with hair in it's natural state is hard to do. Whether I'm getting it flat ironed straight or wearing it curly it always looks great and I receive compliments everywhere I go. She doesn't just do your hair she learns your hair and always does what's best for you and your hair type.
