We weren't in the mood for fried fish that evening, so we paid the one dollar upcharge for steamed instead. When our waiter returned to ask whether we wanted Lemon Pepper or Old Bay seasoning, we said no to both. The trouble with Old Bay is that too many places go overboard--it ends up coating everything so heavily that you lose all sense of the actual seafood. What arrived were two filled plates. One was loaded with steamed trout, steamed scallops, and both hot and cold shrimp. The other plate was stacked with fried oysters and a generous pile of fried clam strips. I found most of it quite tasty, though the trout was bland without tartar sauce and really needed that extra kick. Service was uneven. We had to flag down our waiter for straws, a refill of sweet tea, and eventually the tartar sauce. I also had to get the to-go box myself. That said, when he did stop by, he was friendly, attentive, and there was no charge for the drinks, which was a nice gesture. Would we go back? Hard to say. First place we ate in Wilmington. Large room/nautically decorated. Very clean & organized, not fancy. You're there for the quick service + extremely reasonable seafood. I had a combo plate of fried shrimp + oysters (includes 2 sides) with 2 fried okra. Hubbie had combo fried fish& shrimp w/okra + fries. Wonderful food- we're both retired chefs, and the seafood was Perfectly cooked. Breading was light & flavorful. Good hush puppies, which aren't a side but are included w/meal. My parents love this place so we decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did! The food is fantastic especially for the price point. My favorite item was the fried scallops. They were tender and sweet. The fried shrimp was also a big hit with the family. We were not a huge fan of the deviled crab but that's only because we were hoping for more crab. It still had a good flavor. To make the meal even better was the hush puppies. Those were so good. Our waiter was very attentive and the restaurant was packed. We arrived for an early dinner and the place was not busy. We were greeted by a very nice young man who waited on us promptly and was very attentive. I made my own platter with clams, flounder, deviled crab and scallops (all fried). The meal came with two sides so I chose boiled potatoes and green beans. The server brought out hushpuppies before our meal arrived and they were small but super tasty. Our food came out quickly and fried to perfection. The scallops were nice sized, not bay scallops and a little smaller than a normal diver but they were sweet and delicious. The flounder, clams and deviled crab were very good. The boiled potatoes and green beans were just average, could've used some seasoning but I focused more on my seafood. The price point was amazing and I thought creating my platter was more economical than the seafood platter since I don't care for oysters. My sister had the combo with fish and clams and we had two drinks. The total was around $51 for a ton of food, which we took home since we couldn't eat it all. If you love deep fried seafood, this is definitely the place for you. There is not a variety of healthier options on the menu. Got the grilled mahi mahi which was good, not great. I thought the portion size was a little too small. Whereas my other dinner companions got huge entrée portions of steamed shrimp, fried scallop, and fried flounder. Steamed shrimp was tasty with old bay seasoning. The green beans were standard canned cafeteria food. Hush puppies were good-sweet and crispy. Fried okra was decent-slightly crispy small pieces. French fries were limp, not crispy. After you are done with your meal, you pay at the front counter. The women's bathroom was interesting..a single with two toilets. So considering there are 2 toilets, you would think there would be plenty of toilet paper but they were completely out. Definitely need to work on bathroom maintenance. read more

A strange and unpleasant experience and a huge waste of money. We arrived to an almost-empty restaurant full of staff. No music or atmosphere though, like a take away with tables. What we received was not our order - we were given flounder instead of trout, multiple fried items instead of steamed, and no seasoning at all - completely bland, when we requested lemon-garlic. We were too hungry and tired to complain-our fault, but it was clear staff were not paying attention-we could hear them discussing one of their forthcoming nuptials together (no music). The food was not fresh - straight from the freezer. Maybe they are better at weekends when busy but I cannot recommend. read more
