Me after taking my test! Jeremy orders two cocktails at a time and has you make them. Extra points for flair, customer service and more.

Wow! What an absolutely fantastic class! I took this to gain a little more bar knowledge, as I work in the Food and Beverage industry, and I so got more than what I bargained for. Jeremy is an amazing instructor. He is so easy going, funny, engaging and patient. You can't possibly be bored in his class. In addition, the class is 70% practical. You're behind the bar, making drinks (with fake liquor of course, but bottles are real), for majority of the class. Whenever I pop behind the bar at work, the setup no longer feels foreign after practicing so much with Jeremy. He really makes you feel like anyone can bartend and he's just he nicest guy. 5 stars! I learned so much and would recommend to anyone! Also, for those worried about the test, while nerve wracking, he gives you a full day of practice on the last day so you have plenty of time to figure it out. If you fail, Jeremy will work with you and gives you the option to come back and retake a many times as you like, for free!

Feeling very proud!!

GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! Went into this course not knowing anything about drinks, alcohol, bottles, etc.. I had no idea what to expect, but I went in with the thought of some of my co-workers speaking very highly of this place. THEY WERE RIGHT!!! To me, this was an amazing experience, it wasn't just about learning but also having fun at the same time. Jeremy: IS THE MAN!! I was blowing away with his knowledge in alcohol, cocktails, and bar business in general. I loved the fact that he will think about the smallest detail to the biggest factor to prepare you for any kind of scenerio. I was also impressed with how engaged he was with everyone in the class, he made each day very fun but also he was very dedicated when it came down to business. He wants nothing but the best and prepare you if you want to pursue a career as a bartender. One of my favorite quotes from him was "I want you to be better than I was", to me that's something very remarkable coming from him!!! To be very good at what he does but at the same time very humble when it comes to teaching!! Truly a great individual!! I truly recommend this course to anyone who wants to be a bartender, it would be a lot of fun, you would learn a lot, and it's reasonable price!! Now, I've learned how to make 100 plus drinks, expanded my knowledge in alcohol, met new friends, tasted delicious cocktails, and all of this will help me a lot with my next step in my career as a F&B manager. Last thing, if you want to have extra fun, wear t-shirts with cool designs such as superheroes, Jeremy will love it!! I'LL BE BACK FOR HIS MIXEOLOGY CLASS.

The course adds up to a very fun and informative week! After one week I felt very comfortable with bar tools and accurate pours. During the training, all of the drinks are made with dyed water so it is easy to practice as much as you want. I came out of the course with the knowledge to make dozens of popular drinks and that has changed my life. I used to order beers or shots but now I know cocktails I can order and will often practice making them at home. Even if you don't become a bartender, making cocktails is a wonderful party trick and will forever spice up your own drinking palette! As it happens, completing the course was a good way to enter the bartending trade. Jeremy has a number of connections in the region and I was able to find employment with two of them! Also, Jeremy is simply a stand-up guy. He and my class all had a lot of fun just kicking it in between drink making. I still visit Bar Basic to say hello and make cocktails. On that subject, after you complete the course, you can build up volunteer experience on Mondays.

I recently completed Jeremy's week-long certification course and it was such a fun time! Not only is he highly entertaining, he provided us with great study materials and taught us clever mnemonics to remember the cocktail recipes. After the class one of my friends who is a seasoned bartender, quizzed me on how to make popular cocktails at his bar, and I knew all of them! For anyone interested in this class for fun or for professional preparation, I highly recommend Soma Bartending!

This is one of those times that I'd love to give a business more than 5 stars because they deserve it. I'll give you five reasons for that: First: Jeremy. He's one of the most energetic, dynamic, funny and clever instructors I've met. He will make you feel like you're making drinks at home while doing them in a real setup. I remember the last class, we were making a drink every 30seconds or so, and he only told us he changed the timer only after we were done (sneaky way to push your potential!). Trust me, he'll make sure you burn over 100 drinks in your brain + other important topics (legal, customer service, etc.) within a week while having too much fun at the same time. Second: The setup. I mean come on, you can't get more real than this--unless you are actually working in a bar already. The fact that everything is setup in a real bar, with real bottles (but colored water though) makes all the difference in the world. They also provide you with every single tool, in fact (believe me when I say this), you just need to show up. Third: The added value. After graduating you can show up every Monday night for what they call student nights, and yes it's basically the real deal. For an hour, you're the bartender of the place. Talking about keeping it real? Fourth: The certificate looks so nice it even looks even nicer than my Master's one. The test to get the certificate isn't the easiest one but will definitely set you up for a lucrative career as a bartender. Fifth: The price is super reasonable and for all that you get, it's a no-brainer. Gracias Jeremy!

This is an awesome place with even more awesome people! I took the weekday class and learned to be a bartender! I did not have any bartending experience but after this class I can be one and I don't even work in the bar / restaurant industry. The classes are fun, with lots of time for practice. I was so impressed that all teaching notes are ready on an app so that you can study on your phone. There is all sort of supporting material on the website and they even help you find a job as a barternder. Last but not least, the team here are awesome people! Jeremy keeps it real but makes sure that everyone learn everything. Don't doubt a second and sign up for his class!

Despite the "basic" location, this course is by no means basic. I participated in the bartending course in January 2017 and went from not even knowing what went in a martini to being able to make 50+ different types of cocktails. Jeremy is seriously a top-shelf instructor. As an engaging storyteller and humble expert, he led the class of mostly noobs to confidently and quickly concoct cocktails with style - teaching us fancy yet simple technique and basic bartending flair. The course took place Monday thru Friday from 10AM to 3PM with a quick lunch break in the middle. The morning generally began with review of the drinks we learned the prior day and we just built muscle memory behind the counter. We covered some fun drinks, as well as the classics; he taught us fun mnemonics to help us remember the main ingredients that went in popular drinks. In the afternoons, we made and tasted some of our drinks and learned the history of the spirits. I'd highly recommend this course for any cocktail enthusiasts and current bartenders who want to brush up on their skills. I'm a certified bartender now! Check out the Instagram page - SOMA Bartending and you might be able to find me tagged somewhere.

Soma Bartending is a very special place! I was at a crossroads in life and was toying with the idea of becoming a bartender. I called Sifu Jeremy (that's what I call him) on the phone and within in minutes of talking to him I was more than sure I had found the right place! I showed up to class Monday morning i walked in and the Bar looked like a place you would see in a movie! We all met each other and Jeremy gave us some insight into the world of bartending / the history of alcohol from the beginning up until present day / and some insight into his journey as a master bartender (he would never call himself that but that's what he is) and teacher. After that I believed he cranked up some Tupac and we began to pour drinks!!! Hundreds of drinks everyday we were there!! Jeremy is a total pro he has so much to offer anybody interested in bartending as a career or just a side passion. He always keeps the information moving and the vibes are fun and positive! I consider him a mentor and friend. I have been working as a bartender for the last year and a half and i could not have done it without Soma Bartending school! They even have a guest bartending night on Monday's where you can get more real-time experience! Really can't say enough about the place and the man who runs it. Mike is super cool as well. If you have any interest in training as a bartender this is the place to go! I left with a certificate of achievement and I'm super proud to have been a student there! Cheers and Thanks! Bj

WE DID IT. Oh... and that's Jeremy

First and for most I rarely drink. I'm the person who orders an alcoholic drink and I have no idea what's in it. For example I would always buy mojitos only because I thought tequila was in it -___- no tequila , it's rum lol. I was quite skeptical on entering this class due to the fact that it was not cheap and that it's not technically required for a Bartending job. BUT I am so happy I made the risk on Soma Bartending w/ Jeremy. This is what you get in the program: 1. Getting behind a real bar 2. Tricks (flare bottles) 3. Learning more than 80+ recipes by heart 4. Drinks(sometimes, if you pressure him lol) 5. Knowledge on alcohol 6. Student night 7. Job opportunities Student night is on a Monday when students get certified by Soma Bartending and work at the bar. You do not get paid, but the experience is waaaay worth it. What I mean by job opportunities is when you work your first shift at student night you can put Jeremy on your resume that you worked there. Cool huh? I traveled from Vallejo to SF ferry building and walked 25- 30 mins every morning to get to class. If you have access to the ferry or Bart, use it!!!! Only because the times for school (weekly) are 10am -3pm. I'm very very happy I chose this school. After I got certified (made 14? Drinks in 8 mins I believe could be wrong lol) I ended up creating my own personal bar at home and it's a hit. I will be looking for jobs soon. Even at student night I met some job opportunities by customers. If your just looking to have fun or a job in the industry this is a good stepping stone and things will only get brighter with Jeremy's expertise.

Learning to make the five deadly drinks. Long Island Iced Tea, Long Beach Iced Tea, Tokyo Tea, Purple Rain, AMF (my fave).

I signed up for the Satuday Bartending class in August. A coworker who had previously taken the Soma Bartending Class talked very highly of the instructor Mr. Jeremy Vassey. The class size was quite small which made it perfect for a more personal experience. The instructor was very attentive and considerate of each individual's learning needs. With a combination of PowerPoint slides and sharing of personal experiences, when the time came for the hands on part, making the cocktails was a piece of cake! After I completed the class, I was invited to attend Student Night, hosted every Monday at Bar Basic. Student Night gives SomaBartending Alumn the opportunity to practice their Bartending skills and make real drinks to real customers. This opportunity definitely makes my Monday's more bearable at work. I have something to look forward to in the afternoon! Kind of makes me wish College was as easy as Jeremy made getting a Bartending certificate at SomaBartending School!! Not that the class was easy, oh no! He just made learning fun and the class enjoyable!! Learning over 100 drinks in 3 weeks with Jeremy Vassey, totally worth giving a shot to! (Get it?)

Awesome class!! Jeremy is kind of the man!! He's very knowledgeable, funny and patient. You won't find nobody else as a good teacher like him. Small group, easier to talk and ask. We've learnt the foundation stuff, tricks and different cocktail recipe. Of course, you gonna DRINK during the class too!! At the end of the course, there will be a exam for the students. Honestly, that's kinda stressful, feel like i m in school again haha but once you pass, you will get the certificate. Over all, I enjoyed it very much. No matter you are looking for a career change, side job or just for fun, soma bartending is the place to go! **Highly recommended**

I took the week long Bartending Certificate class. I had no idea what to expect but after comparing other schools and reading on Yelp that "Jeremy is the man!" I thought I would at least have fun. After the first class, I asked him if he had written his book yet. Jeremy is very charismatic but has no ego. Incredible! I learned so much about bartending. Yes, we practiced making drinks but his lectures (short) about the different spirits and their history were worth the money alone. Did I say there was a test? Yes, on the last day, Jeremy sits at the other side of the bar and you make random drinks for him. Very stressful. I failed the first time and I'm really happy about that because he is not a diploma mill. He let me retake the test about an hour later and I passed with flying colors! After every test, he sits down with the "bartender" and gives detailed notes about the drinks you made for him. I was really impressed at how engaging he is with everyone. Always positive, making jokes but also teaching the seriousness about cleanliness, organization and the biggest thing most bartenders don't understand - Customer Service. Last thing, every morning he teaches you how to flip bottles and do fancy pours. If you want to jump into bartending and make it your job, this school will teach you 10x what you need to know in the real world. If you are looking to just have a good time learning tricks to show to your friends, you won't be disappointed either.

The best Escape room in San Francisco! So immersive and fun!…read moreWe took the family and everyone enjoyed it (although not the most interesting for very young kids). I'd say the Edison room is my favorite so far. The thoughtfulness in clues and gags are amazing!! You really get what you pay for here- it is expensive for what it is but the level of detail has far surpassed other escape rooms I've seen. A+ for the props department!

Very concerning experience…read more (Understandable) We visited Palace Games recently and were instructed by staff to place all personal belongings in a designated basket area before entering the game. The basket was located outside of the game room and remained out of our sight for the entire duration (~2 hours). (Incident) After the game, we discovered that a wallet valued at $1000+ (including cash and multiple cards such as ID and credit cards) was missing. Based on the noticeable weight difference before and after, we were able to reasonably determine that the item went missing during the game time. (Their Action) We requested assistance immediately and asked to review surveillance footage. Initially, we were told that the footage would need to be "retrieved through a third-party vendor" and that we would be contacted later -- however, no one followed up. The following day, after multiple attempts to reach them, we were informed that the "vendor was unavailable (PTO) "and the footage could not be accessed at this point. Later, a manager called and stated that there is no recording at all (⁉), only live monitoring on site. When we asked for confirmation of this and whether we could document the conversation, the call was abruptly ended Subsequent attempts to follow up have gone unanswered. Additionally, on the game day, we felt rushed to leave immediately after the game ended, even though our scheduled end time was 4:00 PM and it was only around 3:45 PM at that point. This made it more difficult to properly check our belongings around the game area. We followed all instructions provided by staff, yet there appears to be no secure storage, no accessible review process, and no clear accountability when something goes wrong. Their responses were inconsistent and changed over time. the incident has NOT yet been addressed at this point. We are sharing this experience for transparency regarding how personal belongings are handled and how incidents are addressed. Update: The owner has reached out to us, apologized, and showed us the available surveillance footage. The footage only covers the lobby and hallway areas and does not include the room where personal belongings are placed, so it was not possible to determine what happened. We appreciate the follow-up and the owner's sincere attitude. However, this situation highlights that the designated storage area for customer belongings currently has no surveillance coverage or secure storage. We hope additional measures (such as lockers or better monitoring) can be implemented in the future to prevent similar incidents. While we acknowledge their efforts to address the situation, we are keeping our original rating to reflect our experience.
