I was so excited to purchase a Solé bicycle, especially as a local. Everything is great until something on your bike malfunctions. I reached out for support within 14 days of purchase and received no response. I called and the gentlemen to spoke with was cold, unhelpful, and frankly -- rude. I had their electric bike in my cart ready to purchase after a 30-day trial of the all terrain bike I purchased, and I'm so glad I waited. Disappointed... I purchased a 3-speed from the Venice flagship store 2 days ago and was super excited to take my new bike to work. On the first day of riding, a lug nut on the real wheel fell off while I was riding in rush hour traffic!! There was a loud clanging, I suddenly lost control and almost fell over. I subsequently called their customer support number and was greeted by an answering machine. Left a message with my concerns, but never heard back. I really wanted to like this bike, but the post purchase experience has been lacking to say the least. I'll try calling again another day, but so far, I would not recommend buying a bike from here. read more

We picked up a couple new whips from Sole at one of their sample sales and are beyond happy with our rides! Every now and then, Sole does a sample sale for gear that was used for photoshoots and whatnot, giving you discounts on what they have - clothes, bikes, and whatever they have going on inside. Just a note, when they do these sample sales, they sell out quick! We were lucky enough to get two bikes that we really love at the sample sale. The guys at Sole' were really cool about switching wheel colors and swapping the bikes from fixie to flywheel for us. While we took a lot of their time, the guys were really laid back and cool about making sure that we could get the best bike combo possible with what was available at the sale. I really appreciated that! The bikes ride great on the beach bike path - smooth with much better speed than your average beach cruiser. They're also really light! Despite how they look, the seats are decently comfortable and my bony butt was able to ride for an hour the other day without a problem. Our bikes do put you in a more bent over, bike messenger type position, which is significantly different than riding a beach cruiser. For me, it's totally comfortable, but it can take some getting used to if you've never had a hipster or road bike. We really love our bikes and will take them from Venice to Torrance on the bike path soon. Since we're local, I'm happy that I can bring my bike down to Sole' anytime if I have any issues with it and know that the crew there will be happy to help out. read more

What an amazing Experience ! I brought both my bikes thinking I need new tires and tubes. Ian inspected the tires, pressurized them with the correct air pressure and save me a lot of money !! Solé bikes are real pieces of shit. Don't buy one, not worth the money. They look clean but this company are manufacturing these bikes at 50 bucks tops and charging as if they are sending a premium product. I have extensive experience with bikes and purchased this to see just how shitty their bikes are for the good of consumers everywhere, and let me tell you... first four days of riding something new broke each day! I bought a Solé bike for Christmas. Nightmare. The bike came damaged and it took weeks to get a response. It's like there's only one employee even though they give off a legitimate business vibe. Before sharing my experience, let me just speak to the functionality of the bike: The kickstand was not designed with the bike in mind as it doesn't support the weight or height of the bike - you have to balance it meticulously if you want the kickstand to do its job. The wheel is way too big for the frame and grinds against the front of your foot when turning at no more than a 30 degree angle. This was disappointing considering I waited about 2 months total to finally build this bike. This is my experience with the company: The bike arrived missing a key part to lock the handlebars in, the front fender was warped beyond repair, and a wheel spoke was snapped off rendering what I had at my disposal useless. No problem, these places usually have awesome customer service... Nope - I had to call 3 times over the course of 2 weeks and then document the damages and submit for review. They encouraged me to go to a hardware store to find the replacement parts myself which I actually did, only to find out the part was a specialty item that even the bike store I ultimately tried couldn't provide me. They completely ignored my request for a replacement fender and sent the handlebar part 5 weeks later. The wheel? Oh, they sent me a tire which is not the same thing and not going to help me ride this bike. So in the end, I went to a bike store and had them fix the wheel for another $35. Put it together and it looks 8/10 but rides 4/10. Never heard from these guys again and it's probably just as well because there's nothing positive about my experience. My recommendation to Sole? Either have a good product or a good system to support your bad product. Either one would have kept me off Yelp. read more

We were having issues with my sisters sole beach cruiser (steering was off) so we called the sole shop in Venice. They were so friendly on the phone and told us to bring the bike in so they could take a look. We got there around 5:15pm on a Saturday (they close at 6) and they were able to fix the handle bars, gave her a new kick stand, and pretty much gave her a full tune up! They were also considerate enough to ask if we were in a hurry before doing all of that. There were 3 guys there (didn't catch their names) but all 3 of them were super nice and knowledgeable and they all helped with something on our bike. Such a pleasant experience and super nice guys. 10/10 would recommend for all your bike needs! read more

Tried to buy a bike online today with labor sale going on. Ad read $75 off all bikes. When I went to purchase the coastal cruiser my code was denied. I called customer service and they said that bike wasn't included in sale. The ad states all bikes. The guy said "I guess you're out of luck". Well then I tried to buy the cobain and the code worked but after thinking about the false ad I didn't but that bike. I'll be sure to tell as many people as possible about your deceptive ads. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in a stylish durable bike! The actual Solè bike itself is a great product, and the service that comes with it is impeccable. During Covid I struggled with finding a bike or even assistance to help me find the perfect bike for me. I went to Solè and all that changed. If I'm dropping a couple hundred bucks on a product, I value how I'm treated while doing so. I have bought multiple bikes from this bike shop solely because of the service I experienced. Johnny has gone above and beyond to make my experience, or anyone I recommend, superb! He's done nothing but exceed my expectation on matching me with the perfect bike that fits me & my personality. Great experience with Sole. Bought my boyfriend the single speed/fixie for Christmas and Spencer with customer service was very helpful to coordinate picking up the bike in store in lieu of shipping. He loved the bike so much that I decided to go and buy myself one. I went into the store and Walter was very helpful showing me the different options and explaining the differences. Unfortunately, I am updating my review today as Sole has been nearly impossible to buy another bike from. My original Sole was stolen (woo! Venice!) so I was on a mission to buy my same bike. Of course, it was sold out but that's not their fault as it was the best polka dot bike...ever. I called to ask about other options and the guy on the phone was completely unhelpful. I mentioned one of the cruisers I had in my cart online and he said "ah, no we're sold out of those. that's probably pre-order for the next few months" which didn't make sense because why would I be able to buy it online and it said delivery within a week? He asked for my number to give me a call back after he checked with the warehouse. After 3 days, I assume I'm not getting a call back and I'm not going to beg them to take my money. Bike Service is amazing here!!! My tire blew mid ride right down the street from Solé bicycle. So after riding up to the counter, Andrew, the employee working the counter, immediately helped us. Even though Andrew had his arm in a sling from an injury, and thus couldn't help us fix the flat himself like he normally would have been able to, he was beyond helpful. He told us we could bring it in the next day to be fixed, but we chose to fix it on the spot with his instruction. And what a great teacher! He sold us the parts we needed, let us borrow the tools they use, and even lent us some towels so my bike didn't get scuffed up on the sidewalk in front of the shop. Wow! I am on my second Solé bicycle. The first one was stolen. I have had my second one for 2 years now. I get a lot of good use out of my bike as it is my sole mode of transportation. A couple weeks ago, my bike had a malfunction while riding. Caused me to go down. It was a freak accident and is not representative of a Solé bicycle normally. How to sum up my all time favorite bike co? The aesthetic: A friend who recently moved to Venice had two problems: a big empty wall near his front door that needed decoration, and the lack of a bike -- he took my suggestion of buying and mounting a solé there as a functional art piece and now gets compliments on it from anyone that sees his apartment. Also my gf (another proud sole owner) and I are asked "what kind of bike is that??" most times we're out riding together. The construction: Growing up in Davis CA i had only owned mountain / road / hybrid bikes, all of which had too many breakable moving parts, were just clunkers, and had no real aesthetic. I had never considered a single speed with a single front brake until I rode one in Venice and it changed everything -- the perfectly balanced geometry and simplicity of minimal moving parts won me over. The service: Customer support has been top notch -- I've had two parts replaced over the last three years, both promptly and without charge. As a startup it's obvious that they truly value not just the quality of their product but their customer service too; someone always answers the phone. Think Walmart vs a local grocery store, just worlds different than a faceless multi-national. Looking forward to many more years riding solés! read more

I tried to order online on a Sunday to have it delivered to the shop, but didn't see the option on the website so I sent an email. It was promptly answered Monday morning by Spencer, with his personal cell phone so I could call and place the order with him directly. I was able to pick the bike up two days later fully assembled.
