I really enjoyed our breakfast at Solvang Restaurant. It was supposed to be a small breakfast, but once we added in the aebleskivers (must try) we had a couple of big breakfasts. It is really a cute family restaurant and known for the aebleskivers. Aebleskivers are sort of round pancake balls with a berry syrup on top. They kind of remind me of warm donut holes. They also have a vast menu of some traditional American and Danish food. There is lots of filling food on the menu. I had the veggie omelet which came with toast and hash browns. There were some great sounding lunch and dinner options. When we came, due to COVID, seating was at reduced capacity, but luckily, it was during the time when indoor seating was allowed, giving us a comfortable spot to enjoy our food. Service was great. My coffee and water were refilled regularly. It is not fancy, but definitely a place you must go when in Solvang. read more

We came here on a busy Sunday afternoon and it took us a lil more than an hour to get our food. Loved the old world charming interior and ambience. The staff is friendly, accommodating and really busy. We got the thin danish style pancakes for kids, combination entree with danish style meatballs and sausage, and croissant sandwich with meatball/cheese. All the dishes were great, and also the best one of-course was the yummy ebelskivers. They were genuinely warm, soft and divine. 10/31/2018 This place came highly recommended by the locals. After watching the school costume parade for Halloween we sat down to eat. This place is famous for their Danish Aebleskiver. Tried a bite from my boyfriends plate. Really loved the raspberry jam that came with it. So much so that I bought a jar of the jam to take home. Needless to say it did not last long on my morning toast. During our stay we visited three times. Upon each visit everyone was always very welcoming and provided great service! Think my favorite dish was the Danish three egg omelette with Tilsit cheese and Danish sausage. Eggs were cooked to perfection, smooth, mild cheese combined with the flavorful sausage tasted so good I ate the whole thing. Which I don't usually do. The Danish pancakes were thin, fluffy, nicely spiced. I put raspberry jam on one and syrup on the other. They went well with my one egg over easy and Danish sausage. The fried chicken came out crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Just what I want in my fried chicken. The waffle went well with the chicken. I like to make my perfect bite include a small piece of chicken, sliver of waffle with plenty of butter and syrup. Definitely will be back here on the next trip to Solvang. read more

This restaurant fills up quick at the "normal" eating hours so get there early. The food is all fresh and made the way you would expect a grandma in the country to cook it. We ordered eggs and hash browns, pancakes, waffles, and abelskivers with extra jam. It was all hot and delicious. Lots of flavor and everyone walked away happy. Definitely wish we ate here earlier in the trip as we would have come here everyday. The inside is quaint and very cozy. We got the ableskiver a la mode and two wines. The ableskiver basically tasted like funnel cake balls topped with raspberry jam and powdered sugar. I actually liked the vanilla ice cream and raspberry jam together more! If you're torn between getting it with or without ice cream, I would say opt to go with- you can never go wrong with good old fashioned vanilla ice cream. The staff was great about finding seating for us and making sure to wipe down all the tables and chairs between parties. She had a very obvious process for making sure the pen, her hands and anything she and the customer touched were sanitized between each and every customer. This was not just a one-off - we saw her do this multiple times through the day as we passed the table several times. We heard her ask the customer after us if he had a face mask since he wasn't wearing one. She managed to balance great service with uncompromising, consistent standards, clear direction and customer expectations. Surprisingly good tourist trap place. Prices are reasonable given the insane rent costs, I'd say they work to be as competitive as they can. They are constantly trying to make room for people wanting a seat, a crowded restaurant is a good sign usually. Our LARGE party of 10 was seated (they are not a big place, we sat two at the bar and eight at a table, it worked out totally fine). The server was very quick and competent and saw to our every need. I tried the Danish sausage with my two-egg breakfast. I was concerned that I don't like sausage usually as I prefer it to be more well done, like carmelized a bit. The waitress immediately said "I'll have it butterflied for you", they did, it was perfect. But I might add, this is now my favorate sausage. My grandson kept begging me to give him pieces of it on his plate, I shared it with him, if it wasn't for me watching my diet, I'd have ordered a side of more. Spelling? Aabelskiver? You have to try them. They are a fantastic ball type pastery, doughy, a touch of buttermilk, served with jam. SO tasty. This was our first time in Solvang. I decided to stop here to try the aebleskivers a la mode because it seemed popular with the crowd nearby. It was also pretty convenient since you just need to get in line outside and order at the window. The line moved quickly and wasn't an issue. Ordering at the window is primarily for the aebleskivers and drinks, not the full restaurant menu. Staff was really nice and professional. We ate outside on the street patio, decent setup. The street was blocked off so it was nice not to have loud traffic whizzing by the tables. It would have been great if they cleaned the tables between customers, but it wasn't bad at all. This place is definitely a hot spot as it's smack in the middle of Solvang and always has a long line it seems. Decided to try it since my friends and I just finished lunch in the area and it was a perfect little desert spot with seatings outside. We wanted to fill our desert craving and it seemed like the best place in town to do so. That said, I would say after having tried it, it was pretty decent :) not anything super special however so can't say I'd have cravings for it again if I'm ever back in town. This review is for the takeout window where you can order coffee, soda, Medisterpølse (Danish pork sausage), and of course, the Æbleskivers! It's very touristy and the line can get long, but it moves fast since most people are just getting the dessert. Also, I like that you can watch them make the æbleskivers in the cast-iron pan from the window. We got one order of the æbleskivers. It's $3.75 and comes with 3 warm æbleskivers, topped with raspberry jam and powdered sugar. You can also upgrade to a la mode for $7.50. Texture is fluffy, like a really light doughnut hole, with the taste of a pancake. The jam is nice and not too sweet. It's good but not the best thing they have in Solvang. There's not a lot of seating around (the restaurant is crowded) to sit down and enjoy, but it is really easy to eat on the go. I think this place is a more of a one time thing, the novelty of trying æbleskivers in Solvang is what you're paying for, but I don't beleive it's worth a return visit. read more

It was very busy so I expected the food to be really good. The service was normal for a, you know, busy day... employees are stressed, people getting frustrated. I work at a restaurant so I ignored it. The food was a little bland and I expected a little more for the price. I was not a huge fan of the special soup but that's just a personal thing. As I was finishing the fish n' chips, I saw a string of lint which I know is just a piece of lint but that kind of just ruined it for me. I have been to Solvang a couple of time but have never stopped by here until recently. I don't regret it. What i regret is the fact that I hadn't been here before. I ordered their famous Aebleskiver and shared them with my friend. These were so delicious and very soft. The strawberry jam that it comes with is amazing. They were definitely freshly baked and they smelled so good. These are a must try dessert when in solvang so you can definitely expect a line at times. Especially during the weekends because families and various tour buses come to visit the town. It's worth the wait though and I would recommend trying it. First time trying aebleskever in Solvang and it was delightfully delicious. They're ball shape little Danish pancakes which looks almost like a beignet, but slightly denser. It's made fresh and served warm. They make them right next to take out window in front of the restaurant so it's really convenient. Each order comes with three pancakes and choice of with ($7) or without ($4) ice cream, then topped with powdered sugar and raspberry jelly. We got ours ala mode and pretty much stuffed ourselves. So-So Good! There are benches in front of the restaurant and surrounding shops so you can enjoy these luscious treat sitting down. Expect plenty of oohs and aahs from onlookers. Word on the street this spot got the best aebleskivers I got the simple aebleskivers with raspberry jam and powder sugar. It was piping hot when it came out covered with the jam and a very light sprinkle of powder sugar. To me, it tasted like a light fluffy pancake in a ball. I don't go out to breakfast often so I was really hoping this food would be great or at least fairly decent. What I was served was disappointing. The eggs benedict had overcooked eggs, which, minus the nice runny yolks made everything somewhat dry as there was not much hollandaise to help with that. The hashbrowns were way underdone. There were a lot but they just seemed to be barely browned on the top and the bottom and then everything in between was just steamed. There weren't many people dining there. At first I thought it was because there were two men in Trump hats but it turns out it was the food. Note to cook, poached egg yolks should be runny and potatoes need to be cooked.
