I had a local company come out to bid on some furnace work after the company I had a service subscription with missed something big, but they gave me bad vibes, very sales-focused. Given my track record with service pros, I decided to just tackle it myself. Fast forward to last night: I woke up at 3am in a panic wondering if I'd done it all wrong and convinced we would die from carbon monoxide poisoning. This morning I called SOS Heating and Cooling, and honestly, this is the kind of service that reminds you good people still exist in this industry. Jake came out the same day. He actually listened to my concerns instead of talking over me. He walked me through everything, put my mind completely at ease, and (here's the kicker) he's the only HVAC professional I've ever met who didn't immediately try to upsell me on seven different things. Capable, honest, sympathetic, and straightforward. That's it. That's what good service looks like. SOS Heating and Cooling has earned a customer for life. They'll be my go-to for anything plumbing or HVAC from here on out. If you're in the SLC area and need someone you can actually trust, I can't recommend them enough.

This company at first seemed great, but unfortunately seemed to forget they had already told me they were scheduling me. This message is from Jim through Yelp "Great! We'll book it at 4:30pm then. I'll create an account for you to book the appointment. Can you please provide me with your complete name, address, phone number, and email address?" I received another email that said should we book this for a time between 4-6? when they had already said they were booking this slot for me. I provided all of the information they asked for and today when I wrote them to confirm, they said the appointment is not available. Very disappointing as I had called several companies to come out and give me a bid on this electrical project. Why promise an appointment and then go back on what you have already said? While they may have quite a bit of great reviews, if you say you are scheduling me and then do not actually do so, and try to schedule me for a different day other than what we discussed, then apparently this job was not that important to you.

I paid thousands of dollars based on this understanding. I trusted this company because the owner, Court, had previously done excellent work at my home before he owned RareBreed. Unfortunately, this experience was drastically different: **Professionalism Issues:** - Two plumbers argued with each other throughout the workday while in my home - What should have been a professional job turned into an all-day event - By the end of the day, 5-6 plumbers were in my house trying to finish the work - I had to speak with the crew leader about the unprofessional behavior **Incomplete Work:** - About a week after the original work, I had to call them back because the P-trap under my bathroom sink was leaking due to incorrect measurements - On Christmas Eve 2025, I discovered water on my bathroom floor - The source was a leaking shutoff valve connected to OLD, CORRODED, RUSTED galvanized steel pipes that were NEVER REPLACED during the "complete repipe" - I had to make multiple trips to Home Depot on Christmas Eve to purchase galvanized steel pipe and repair it myself - I sent them photos clearly showing painted galvanized steel pipes with old paint rings, proving they predate the April 2024 work - During the callback for the P-trap repair, workers were directly under this sink yet never addressed or replaced these corroded pipes **Company Response:** When I called to address the unreplaced galvanized steel pipes, I was told on the phone that only drainage pipes are under warranty. This completely misses the point - these galvanized steel water lines should have been replaced during the ORIGINAL work in April 2024 as part of the complete pipe replacement I paid for. I was told all pipes except copper would be replaced - that's why I agreed to spend thousands of dollars. I sent an email requesting a written explanation of why these pipes were not replaced as promised. The company has not responded to my email request. **Bottom Line:** I paid thousands of dollars for complete pipe replacement and received incomplete work. The corroded galvanized steel pipes I discovered on Christmas Eve should have been replaced when I paid for the job in April 2024. I cannot recommend this company based on this experience. If you hire RareBreed Plumbing, I strongly recommend: - Getting extremely detailed written quotes specifying exactly which pipes will be replaced - Taking before and after photos of ALL work areas - Inspecting all work thoroughly before final payment - Being prepared for potential professionalism issues during the work

The previous home owner had done a non-standard patch job to get the old one working without a C-wire and even after attempting to rewire it myself neither the old Smart Thermostat nor the new one would work. John helped me figure out what I'd done wrong and had me up and running in about 15 minutes. Everyone was polite, knowledgeable, and efficient. I'll definitely call them first the next time I need HVAC service.

To our recollection we have never posted a negative review, but our experience with Blue Best…read morewarrants one. We met with Blue Best late in 2024 to discuss our concern with air temps in our house, specifically temps in our living room and kitchen, which have high ceilings and southern exposure and become uncomfortably hot in summer. We were very clear about our concern, and the salesperson spent hours assessing our home and assured us his proposed system would solve the problem. We accepted the ~$14,000 bid to install a heat pump solution based on that assurance. By summer 2025, the living room and kitchen were still too hot on most sunny days. Despite many service visits and repeated adjustments (baffles, registers, fan speeds, etc.), the issue was never resolved. Blue Best ultimately stated the system was operating as designed and implied the problem was with our home, not their installation.  In our opinion, Blue Best is very good at selling a solution, but not so good at ensuring that solution meets what the customer needs. Two independent HVAC contractors opined: -Our ductwork is in good condition. -The thermostat, furnace, and compressor Blue Best installed were not properly matched. -Basic industry-standard load calculations (e.g., Manual J) were apparently not done, which would have shown the system was undersized for our home's layout, windows, and sun exposure. Blue Best has declined to remove the system or refund our payment, instead relying on fine print in the contract. We are now pursuing legal options. We have since spent ~$12,000 on a mini-split system from another contractor, which works as intended. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Blue Best and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere.

I received several responses from HVAC specialists knowing what the job entailed and providing a range of bids for the service. Manwill responded with a message refusing the service and telling me I need an electrician to do this installation. My electrician explicitly requested an HVAC specialist to run the new ductwork and connect the fans to the ventilation system. For being a longstanding business in the community, and a service that installs AC & heating systems requiring ductwork and ventilation, I was surprised they don't understand an electrician doesn't typically provide these HVAC services. I wouldn't have requested the service if I didn't know who I needed the service from. This indicated they most likely neglected to read the details of the request and assumed it was a small job they didn't want. Either way, with their lack of clarification prior to refusing the service, followed by their misinformation and misdirection to a different service altogether, I won't be requesting services from Manwill in the future. This isn't difficult because I've used them prior for annual maintenance calls and they're one of the most expensive HVAC providers in the state. Easy choice. Find another HVAC provider if you don't want to be dismissed or paying too much.
