They want all money up front before you even get the service done. I don't have thousands of dollars just sitting around to pay in full even before service has been done. They are NOT flexible at all with creating a dental payment plan. They just expect me to whip out a credit card and charge it. Like most working people I work paycheck to paycheck. Today was a great example of why I will continue to recommend and be a patient at this office. I broke an old filling while on vacation last week. I called and Terry fit me right in on the schedule. I arrived on time for my appointment and they promptly called me back. I am 6 months pregnant and getting dental work is a scary thought. They were entirely prepared and up to date on my chart, I was given also extra protection during x-ray and they explained risk associated with pregnancy and dental work. Start to finish, forty minutes and two fillings later I was on my way home. I felt no pain or discomfort in the initial exam, novocaine injection, or drilling/filling. Five hours later I am still pain free. Dr. McAdams and his awesome staff makes visiting the dentist a joy, I could fall asleep in his dental chair. My troublesome tooth feels great and my bite is perfect. I had no wait or delay in treatment and no pain at all. Not sure what would make a dental experience any better.

I recently visited his office for a one-time second opinion after my corporate dental provider--where the staff changes frequently--told me I had a cavity. I was skeptical, as I've never had a cavity before, and something didn't sit right. Dr. Lernor took my concerns seriously. He reviewed my records and took the time to perform a full evaluation, including new X-rays that had been missing from my file. It turned out that what was diagnosed as a cavity was simply an area of dental coloration--completely harmless. His honest, thorough approach saved me from unnecessary treatment and gave me real peace of mind. Although my dental insurance unfortunately doesn't cover his practice--otherwise I would switch to him in a heartbeat--I plan to return to Dr. Lernor for any future second opinions, especially if I'm ever told something concerning again. After taking a few months away due to personal circumstances, I returned about five months later for a routine cleaning with tooth pain, hoping for the same level of care. Unfortunately, this visit was overshadowed by a very negative interaction with the office manager, Tania. While I understood and was not upset about an outstanding balance caused by an insurance issue, I was disappointed that it took several months for this to be brought to my attention. More concerning, however, was how the situation was handled. During our conversation, Tania asked my age and then began speaking to me in a noticeably condescending tone, repeatedly addressing me as "girl" rather than maintaining a professional manner. The discussion about the insurance matter became increasingly uncomfortable, as she then decided to bring my mother into the situation due to her being the policy holder. In every professional way, I expressed that she does not know me or my mother, nor does she understand the nature of our relationship. Despite this, she continued making assumptions and stated that although she is close with her own daughter, she would still cash a check without telling her. At one point, I asked if I could step away to speak with my mother directly. When I returned, I explained that I was willing to pay the balance and was simply waiting for my mother to send me the funds. In response, she made an additional remark stating "oh girl yea your mom definitely cashed that check and doesn't want to tell you" which I found inappropriate and unprofessional. When I ultimately asked to cancel my appointment due to both the unresolved insurance issue and discomfort with the interaction, I was met with further unprofessional comments, including suggestions that I should simply pay out of pocket or just ask my mother for money. As someone who works in healthcare, I found this experience particularly disappointing. Patients should be treated with respect, professionalism, and without personal assumptions. While I still believe the dentist and hygienist provide excellent care, this interaction has made me uncomfortable returning to the office. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as no patient should feel diminished during what should be a supportive healthcare experience.
