This office seems to be all about running up a huge insurance bill and draining your beginning of the year dental coverage benefits! They put more focus on financial profit than patient care or patient satisfaction. My visit was my first, and will also be my last. Scheduled cleaning weeks prior to appointment & was told that's what I'd get; instead I was put in a chair for over an hour & faced a full set of exrays and afterwards a separate second set of exrays, different from the first (that are only allowed by insurance maybe once every 3-5 years). Eventually wondering if I had been misled, I began to inquire as to what stage of my appointment would I get my cleaning. I was then told I would NOR get one because they don't do traditional cleanings (but only laser cleanings) and for those a prior authorization would need to be done. Why wasn't that revealed to me when I made my appointment? Initially I provided plenty of data when making my appointment that should have prompted them to be up front and completely transparent! I even discussed my current treatment plan with my previous dentist and cleaning schedule based on my ongoing dental health. They had ample time to disclose their office info and/or processes, even after my insurance benefits were confirmed, which was way in advance of my scheduled appointment! Now, I'm in a strange predicament because if I go to another dentist my exrays allowances have already been exhausted by this money motivated office (they're very sneaky). It appears that they had no plans on providing a cleaning from the start, yet they took full advantage of exhausting my exray coverages, one of which won't be allowed for at least another 3 to 5 years! One more FYI; amid a so called pending prior authorization, they haven't attempted to make any contact with me since my visit - another example of poor customer service!!! Stay away . . . Made an appointment over a month out, but leading up to the appointment received a notification that they moved it to a new day a week later without consulting me. I asked off work a month in advance for this and was not consulted in any way for this appointment change. This is unacceptable, I will be going to a dentist that will *at least* communicate with me if a change in appointment date/time is necessary. I haven't been to the dentist in a really long time and had such a stressful and traumatic experience at Western Dental prior to here. I was over charged and scammed and never even got any work done. If you're planning to come in for a consultation and quote for the "$99 Healthy Smile Cleaning," be aware that this fee does not actually include the cleaning. After the exam and X-rays, they may suggest a more specific cleaning or mention there isn't enough time for the one you booked. When I asked if I could just get the "Healthy Smile Cleaning" as part of my $99 consultation and cleaning appointment, they told me they couldn't do that, which says a lot about their agenda. The staff was generally pleasant, but the doctor took only a quick look at my teeth before recommending several treatments. Absolutely amazing people. I have a deep rooted fear of the dentist and I felt completely safe and content with the staff of desert smiles. They will try everything they can to save your teeth as well as making you comfortable while doing so. I had a different office tell me I needed a root canal a year prior to my appointment and their amazing team was able to get away with a crown. While doing the crown they were very reassuring and took as many breaks as I needed. Update:. When I asked you to seal the route that was exposed you did not know what I was talking about, and automatically referred me to an endodontist. I did find a dentist that knew exactly what I'm talking about and is willing to seal the root and prevent me from having a root canal. As far as the fees no one mentioned anything about $491 in fees. No one said that they were going to charge me extra to apply antibiotics to a tooth and a few other extra charges read more

People there were friendly the work done was good ,paid 15 hundred something for a front tooth due to having no insurance which is excellent only problem is they assured me that I can reschedule the appointment the day I came back to phoenix because I notified them beforehand it's disappointing but they get busy so it's understandable read more

Update- this practice is extremely rude. I had bonding done to fix a recently chipped tooth. I have white teeth and brush twice a day. They made the bonding color yellow and is clearly visible that it doesn't match. When brought to their attention, the owner and dentist was condescending and said maybe I should brush my teeth to make them "less yellow." The only tooth that's yellow is the bonding they did- as a dentist he should know that you can't change bonding color. Very unprofessional. read more

if i could give a zero i would. i came in about 2 years prior got an exam and x-ray was told i had a cavity. got a root canel done the next week and a fake tooth put in. was not told of anyyyy other cavities. now after 2 years i have a tooth deteriorating and another one in constant pain. after trying to schedule an emergency appointment was told they would not see me. i paid 3k originally and then they sent another double charge to collections and did not contact me whatsoever. this place is soley out to get your money they do not care about the customers i do nottt recommend this place to anyone. i highly recommend you go anywhere else away from here. 0 customer service and 0 interest in trying to help resolve the issue. i will be seeking legal actions as i do have all receipts from this visit!!!! read more

I am not generally afraid of the dentist, but it is an inconvenience to make an appointment and go, so like many I put it off until I know there is an issue. Also, back story, I chipped my front teeth when I was a kid, so dentists always have a range of recommendations on how to make it look good. Desert Smiles Dentistry is absolutely amazing with scheduling. I missed my appointment a few times and they had no issues rescheduling and did not charge me any fees. Then, at the actual dentist appointment, it was better than expected. They ask you how you think your teeth are from 1 to 10, which is interesting. They seem to care about you. For me, they started work on fixing my tooth that is in pain right away, the same day, rather then scheduling another appointment. That is good service! Ariel is awesome! Regarding my front chipped teeth, they asked me about them, but bai ally told me they would not really even care about it until everything else was 100% good. That is a bit different from other dentists who go immediately to grinding or pricing out veneers right away. Lastly, location, location, location. Due to previous experiences (at a dentist in Flagstaff) which involved lots of crying and absolutely no compassion, I put off going to the dentist for a few years. So, after I moved from Flagstaff to Phoenix I had the inkling suspicion that I had a dreaded cavity, and sucked it up and made an appointment here (it's my families dentist). First of all, ABSOLUTLY WONDERFUL customer service! I told them about my previous experience and they took the best care of me. I've been coming here with my dad and sister for probably 6 years and they're all so nice each time. Brittany was so adorable and we chitchatted the whole time and she made sure to keep the scraping on my teeth at a minimum which I really appreciated. They were also really accommodating with scheduling a second appointment before leaving town. I also like that I can now make appointments less than like 6 months in advance. As a new patient, I waited over a week for an appointment because of the great reviews. I received a voice mail at 4:20 the day before my appointment saying they could not verify my insurance. I was told I needed to give new information.. but there was no new information to give. They even had my social security number, which I was informed she didn't know what was done with it. She said they MIGHT try to get my insurance info before my appointment in the morning, but they don't open till 10. I told the gatekeeper I would have an appointment before 730 in the morning with a more efficient office. And I do. They verified my insurance coverage after hours in about 20 minutes. read more
