Over one year and a half! My new dentist told me that the pain will very likely persists for years and nothing can be done at this point. Dr. skinner told me that I am sensitive to fillings. He tried to explain that different teeth respond differently to dental work at different ages, because my another dental filling done many years ago never sensitive. But, I recently got fillings done in China and NONE of them are sensitive and painful. ALL the fillings done here were sensitive and painful! So, it is HIS fillings that are sensitive and painful but NOT I am sensitive to dental work! After his fillings, I have seen a couple dentists for pain and even flied 18 hours to the other side of the world to seek solutions. Jesus, nobody can stay calm with such annoying pain and sensitivity for over one year and a half, very likely two, three or more years. Well, I will definitely give them zero if can.

I showed up for a routine cleaning to find that they no longer accepted Delta Insurance (they did not inform me of this change ahead of time). I chose to cancel my appointment and my wife's, which was scheduled soon after. The business manager met with me, and said that because they hoped to keep us as customers (and hoped to resume taking Delta by our next appointments), they would waive the charge for both my appointment and wife's if we did not cancel them. All went well until they were unable to resume taking Delta, and we had to change to another dentist (which provided superior care AND covered 100% of our dental expenses under Delta). Then, we suddenly began receiving bills for the appointments the business manager had waived. It seems that if they couldn't get us to pay cash for future appointments, rather than use our insurance (a cost of well over $1000 a year just for cleanings and exams), then they were going to do their best to squeeze what they could out of us, and were not going to let ethics or integrity get in the the way of a little money. I've talked to them on the phone, in person, and written to them. At first, they confirmed that the cost should have been waived. But they just keep sending bills for the amount they previously waived. I don't even know if that office manager still works there, and there's likely no one who now remembers a conversation from that long ago. It's a pain to deal with them constantly trying to collect less than $300 they are not owed. I think it's been two years of harassment from them. But they did me a favor too, and I hope it's one for you too if you're looking for a dentist in Merced. There are so many dishonest dentists preying on patients. I thought I'd found an honest one in El Portal. As stressful as this is, it likely saved me far more money in the long run by forcing me to leave them before getting taking advantage of by their unscrupulous business practices. Steer clear! I know it can be hard to find a new dentist in Merced, but don't settle for a practice you can't trust.

And I found myself second guessing their opinion so I switched to MMD for a second opinion and sure enough I was right, the previous dentist was wrong. That said, MMD makes you feel like more than just another patient. Dr Gill is wonderful and genuinely I've never felt safer going to the dentist. She's honest but so non-judgmental. I struggled with brushing my teeth pretty consistently (like I'd miss a couple days in between) because as a kid I was never taught to at all so it was a habit I had to build as an adult. I was honest with her about this because genuinely I wanted to be better. She never judged me and she even took the time to go through each topic with me so I was well prepared to move forward. It's been a few months, I haven't missed a single day, and I do feel as though she was a huge part in me building that habit. Tajanae the hygienist, I absolutely adore her and she really does feel like you're just working with a friend. She's truly a safe space where you can really feel comfortable. I had a deep cleaning with her and some laser treatment and it was a breeze because of how comfortable she is. She has also been a big part in this journey. Jose is also really amazing, he will work with you on things that you might be struggling with and he's was very helpful in me being able to even afford the dental work I needed. My insurance barely paid for anything so the discounts this office provides is just incredible. It was even cheaper than when I was going to western dental. Lastly, Dr Justin Nassiri, he's wonderful. I went in today to get my wisdom teeth removed and he was honest with me that it was a bigger risk for me to get them out than to leave them in because I have a nerve right along my root and I'm a very high risk for losing feeling in my face. Genuinely, many doctors I've known wouldn't have cared about this and would have done it anyways. I am truly grateful for his honesty because this saved me a great deal of money and potential problems in the future. I say all of this with absolute gratitude for all workers at MMD. But first, I want to give a shoutout to my dental hygienist Tashame (sorry I'm not sure how to spell it). She really took her time with my deeper cleaning, very personable, and I felt so taken care of. Now I'll get into the front staff. Alexis is usually snooty and explains treatment plans way too fast. They approach you with treatment plans when you're in the chair to pressure you into agreeing and basically get the process started. Jose, the office manager, was rude to me on the phone when I asked for a refund for treatments I didn't even receive. He said in a short tone of voice, "first you wanted this, now you wanted that, well which is it??" I'M SORRY BUT WHEN YOUR DENTIST WHOM YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO TRUST RECOMMENDS AGGRESSIVE INVASIVE TREATMENT, I NEED A MOMENT TO THINK ABOUT IT. AND IM ENTITLED TO A REFUND YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ON TOP OF AND PROVIDE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Mario, the previous office manager, was great and very personable. I much preferred him. Okay, now this is the meat of the review, forget the rude front staff -- let me tell you about my experience here with the dentist. I've had two root canals done to my anterior front teeth 6 years ago without crowns done. The Playbook says that if a root canal is done and the tooth is still healthy, there is NO NEED to put crowns on the front teeth because they don't deal with as much pressure as molars. Dr. Avalpreet Dang was arrogant and insistent that all root canals need crowns and that my teeth should have been crowned in the first place. THAT IS CATEGORICALLY FALSE. MY TEETH WERE FINE. And even after doing my research and knowing that, I decided to trust him and get teeth crowned. Well, they convinced me that my permanent crowns were the right color (THEY WERE NOT), The crowns FAILED WITHIN 6 MONTHS. They did fix their mistake free of charge. I'll give them that. But I WHOLEHEARTEDLY REGRET LISTENING TO HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE. Fast forward, and my crown FAILED AGAIN FOR THE SECOND TIME. Of course he recommended I get an implant. He told me last time that if my crowns failed again, they would cover the cost of the implant. Well, he was lying. I would have to pay the majority out-of-pocket cost. $4200. I found a dentist in LA after moving, whom when looking at my broken crown, only suggested getting it crowned. SEE THAT'S AN ETHICAL DENTIST WITH PATIENT'S BEST INTEREST AT HEART. Borrowed x-rays from my last dentist, and only charged me $75 for a second opinion. I swear it has been so hard not to walk out of the dentist office these days without paying hundreds of dollars, for deeper cleanings, for crowns - all unnecessary except for the dentist that wants to bill insurance companies and meet their financial targets. When my new dentist recommended I only need a new crown and not a dental implant, I literally almost cried in the chair. It's very tough to find a dentist that provides conservative care and has your best interests at heart. Because it's been a lifetime of being preyed on by greedy dentists - like Dr. Dang - where I'm 29 years old and I've had six crowns, three root canals, and one dental implant. And Dr. Dang wanted to suggest giving me get another dental Implant when his crown failed for the second time - that I would have to pay for even though his work led to my (unnecessary) crowns failing twice. And even though he said he would cover the cost of implant.... when it came down to it -- he did not. He gave me this line about the cost of my crowns being deducted from the total of the implant. A measly $750 off the $5k total. Listen, I tried over and over to forgive and give them the benefit of the doubt - when they were rude and dismissive, when they dragged with the refund, when my (unnecessary) crowns failed -- but I'm writing this review because after a grueling 1.5 years of this, I've had enough, and I'm glad I moved far, far away from this business.

He was thorough in explaining and making sure I was numb before drilling into my teeth. He did well in making sure I was suction. He checked in to make sure I was doing okay often. I was offered and given ibuprofen to ease the pain afterward. One recommendation I would give to them is to make sure the patient is clean before stepping out of the office. Maybe ask the patient to check if they want to use the restroom too clean off excess white crumb from the procedure or have mirror and wet towel for patient to clean their mouth. I walk out of the office with white crumb around my mouth, neck and chest area. It would had been embarrassing to have went out to the community unaware. Other than that my experience was great. I would recommend Dr. Singh to others.
