Today was my first time at Lifetime and it was a great experience! I came on a friend's guest pass…read morefor the 9:30am AMP Cycle class taught by MaryBeth M. Overall, the facility was large and clean from the small portion of it I saw. It seemed like everyone on the weight floors had plenty of personal space. We were in the cycle studio downstairs, and it was beautiful and clean with probably about 50-100 bikes. Before I review the class, I'll put my fitness level here: I workout 6 days a week, 4 of those days are strength training/lifting paired with cardio or walking. I take one Orangetheory class a week, and normally add in a pilates/full body day. I'd say I'm in great shape, but am not very coordinated. Today's workout replaced my normal pilates. The AMP Cycle class was a great time, and it definitely has to do with the amazing instructor, MaryBeth. You could tell that the 9:30am Saturday class was full of regulars by the way she greeted and chatted with everyone. My friends introduced me and she was eager to help if I needed anything. My friends helped me adjust my bike and get me into position since I had never taken a spin class before. The class itself was the perfect level of endurance cardio challenge for me! I was able to take little to no breaks and keep up pretty well. Since I'm very uncoordinated and not great with rhythm, some of the moves on the bike were hard but easy to modify so I didn't go flying off the bike (I did have a couple of close calls lol). The music choice was a super fun mix of pop, hip hop, and EDM - all super upbeat and awesome to workout to. There were fun lights as well, which kept me motivated and having fun. Again, what took the class to the next level was MaryBeth. She's a fun motivator and easy to follow - one thing I appreciated is she never made references to pushing harder to look better - she always made it very self-fulfilling and about your heart and mind, without getting too soul-cycle-y. She even said an amazing heartfelt thank you at the end, which you could tell she meant - especially in a room full of regulars. On my way out, I also stopped at the Lifetime Cafe for a protein shake. I ordered the body builder (protein & creatine) with vanilla powder, strawberry & banana. It was a great little smoothie, but the protein was a little chalky. It also felt a little overpriced being $10 - but I got the vibe that Lifetime is a little more upscale so I understood the price. Overall, I would definitely come back for one of these spin classes or try another class if my friend has a guest pass! I personally do not need a full Lifetime membership at this stage in my life, but it's definitely something I would consider in the future.

In order to visit the pool, you get a wrist band from the LTF staff just before the door to the pool. The staff who work this area are awesome! In between folding towels and banding/removing bands, they have a friendly word and smile to offer members. I like the cafe area-the strawberry smoothie was wonderful after a swim!

When I first walked in, I wasn't sure. It's not the most lux gym out there (sorry, Josh!), but it's…read morenot about the look - it's about how you feel and what you get out of it. I started in August and I'm a big big fan. I was a bigger woman, 40, and couldn't run for more than 5 minutes without dying. Josh worked with me to build confidence first. It was great to know someone believed that I could. He has never asked me to do anything that he didn't believe I could do: which has changed my life. I'm working out three days a week with a group of people that are amazingly kind and diverse. I've kept at it - and it's not a pain. It's now just part of my life. I'm down some weight, feel better, and am more confident. I also have a brand new muscle crease in my bicep that's never been there before.

Josh is awesome, so supportive and encouraging. The gym is always clean and organized (not true of many I've been in). Classes are small and each person gets the attention they need. Girlfriends! Weight lifting might not seem like something you would consider, especially if you're older, but it's the best thing you can do for your bones. Josh will set up a program for you that fits your abilities. He loves working with older people to help them reach their goals, like building strength to help you manage everyday tasks. You're never too old to improve. Go for It! You'll feel so great to get stronger every day!

In the realm of small gyms, this Snap location is really really fantastic…read more One thing sets it apart from the others, and that's the very recent remodeling of the "studio" area they had to an open strength training area, complete with 3 Rogue power racks, boxes, rings, barbells, medicine balls, etc. There is turf as well and a sled push/pull, several rowers and a couple of those air bikes. Not to mention a coveted GHR machine (which I mostly see getting used as an ab machine somehow). If I recall correctly they bought this equipment from a local Crossfit box that closed up. The addition of this equipment made it an easy decision for me to make it my primary Snap for my lifting days (also it's only 8 minutes from my house). I have my own barbell and store it there with the rest (although mine has a lock on it ;)). The problem with a lot of small gyms like this is they either have 1 or no racks, the racks don't quite sit at the height you need them, and/or you're forced to stare yourself down in a mirror which is always a peeve of mine. The benefit of the Rogue racks is you can set the hooks facing towards the mirror or toward the far wall instead. Along with this equipment they also added in Crossfit style classes in the morning and evenings. It's a good group and I've never had issues sharing the space with them while a class was going on. There's a bluetooth speaker mounted in the corner and you can stream your own music to it if you desire. The rest of the gym is clean and spacious. Plenty of cardio equipment and targeted strength machines along with free weights. Like most Snaps there are no lockers just the cubbies by the front door, but I have not had issues with my stuff being taken/messed with. The employees and trainers are all super friendly, as is the clientele. Since I usually go in the evenings or early mornings, the parking lot is never full since the other businesses next to it are usually closed for the day/not open yet. The pricing is fair, and is even better if you happen to have a health insurance that gives you the whole "$20 discount if you go at least 12 times". If you're looking for a gym to get/keep fit and don't need the amenities of a larger gym (like a pool or basketball court), this place will meet all your needs!
