I attended the Taylor Swift's Birthday class, having attended other barre classes before I figured I wouldn't have a difficult time with the class. The coach was energetic and provided adjustments. What I was missing was modifications for some of the moves. Some of them were hard and I wasn't sure on my own how to change the move to still get something out of it, but change it for my skill level. Yes, barre is based off of ballet, but I felt it was a much more prominent feature of this class compared to other studios. The worst part of the class was the music. Instead of playing Taylor Swift's music remixes of Taylor's music was played. It wasn't the same. You'll want to arrive early for your class for a variety of reasons. One of those reasons is to give yourself time to fine the studio. The building is confusing. read more

Great workout studio! This exclusive studio has excellent teachers who participate and take care of the participants. You will get in shape here, just show up! read more

I've been to two classes so far out of the pack of 15 that I bought during their Black Friday sale. The Foundations class times were not convenient for me so I jumped right in with an Empower and then Classic. I think I would have gotten more out of the Classic if I would have been able to go to a Foundations class. I was able to follow along but not sure I'm doing the "tuck" thing correctly. My goals are to tone up before my wedding in August. I can definitely feel some muscles I've been neglecting. The studio is clean and well kept. The two instructors I have met have been very nice and helpful walking me through what equipment I need to get and what to expect from class. As a newbie that makes it a very welcoming environment. I don't feel like too much of an outsider other than my lack of coordination. read more

Pure Barre SLP is a wonderful community. Instructors are challenging and motivating, yet provide many modifications and hands on corrections as well. Barretenders are friendly and helpful. The workout is perfect for all fitness levels and bodies and is a low impact way to enjoy a workout. I'm grateful for PB SLP read more

I won a free month of Pure Barre from Fit fest and was admittedly resistant. My first real exposure was from Fit Fest and that class was a bit chaotic because of the sheer size of the class and logistics. But I decided I was going to give it a shot and not let that class give me the true flavor since I had the opportunity to do a month of classes. So now here I am half way through the month and I am sold. The first few classes are a little intimidating since there is a sense of community there and everyone seems to know what they are doing, but now I have gotten the hang* of it. Note the asterisk...that does not mean I am a master of the moves by any means, it means I understand what is going to be coming. Even the fitting of people (like people who are also teaching some classes) are shaking and showing that it is not easy. It is completely scale able from those of us just (re)starting our fitness journey to those who are in killer shape. They offer a free week of classes to everyone, so I personally would recommend to try the week, do a classic class 3-4 times and you will get a good flavor...I'm digging it. read more

Barre studios have been popping up like mad around Minneapolis & I am loving it. I tried Pure Barre for the first time last night & I really enjoyed the work out. It was different than previous classes I've taken at other studios so I'm eager to return this week hoping I really get the hang of it. Don't get me wrong, anyone can follow the class, it just might take time to make sure I've got the proper form down. The studio itself is fairly large so you don't feel cramped. There is one small changing room in the front and a bathroom in the back. No 'locker room' per se. There are about 20 cubbys in the back of the studio to place your stuff in. Come winter, not sure what they will do with people's boots and winter jackets? It's required that you wear socks so I recommend buying the sticky socks at the studio so you don't slip on the carpet. They also sell a lot of cute clothing in the lobby area; tempting! Parking is available both on the street in front of the studio & behind the studio in the private lot. However, you enter through the front and exit out the back, so in the future I might just park on the side of the apartment building. First time clients get quite the deal - unlimited classes for $99. You can also buy single classes if you want to give it a go without making a commitment. Today I woke up sore but not to the point I couldn't get out of bed. Great location, beautiful studio & friendly staff - give it a try! read more

I've been going to Pure Barre SLP for over 4 years now. It is the best workout and only one to keep me coming back consistently... which hey, it's hard to do these days, right?!? The low impact and small isometric movements work all muscles and continue to get harder as you get stronger. There are now three formats offered which are great and add good variety. Classic - pure barre at its finest. Reform- I have heard described as a more Pilates like - total body workout throughout the class. And Empower- more cardio and bigger movements throughout. The three balance each other very well and add good variety. I find myself excited for each class and like that I can try different ones each week. There are customers of all ages and fitness abilities. You will be sore - always. The studio is lovely with a caring staff and community. The 45-50 minute classes fly by. I highly recommend, Pure Barre! read more

Pure Barre is seriously the best self-care I've done since I've had my baby, and honestly before! I've struggled with sticking with a workout routine because I either hurt or get exhausted too quickly, and just stop. This has not only improved my self-confidence, but also my strength and attitude. I love coming to class. All of the instructors genuinely care for everyone and have a passion for the class, both of which shine throughout the entirety of the 50 minutes of class. Cheers to the SLP team who makes everyday worth coming back for more! Pure Barre truly raises the Barre ;) on exercise. I only wish I'd found it sooner! (I'd give more stars, but five is the limit.) read more

I had my first ever barre class experience at Pure Barre and was throughly impressed. Katie at the front desk was beyond welcoming and helped prep and get me all set up for class. Instructor Ashley was awesome, so warm and friendly. Her class was super encouraging end uplifting while still kicking my butt and ensuring I'd be sore the next day. read more

I was really excited to check our Pure Barre, and when I heard they were offering a few days of free classes I signed up! The studio was easy enough to find, and the parking not a problem. I found the studio space a little bit awkward. Once inside the lobby you have to remove your shoes, walk through the practice studio and leave your bags/shoes on the other side. Then walk back into the studio. It's like one of those houses that are one room wide and like 7 deep- what are they called? Shotgun houses I think. I also wasn't crazy about the fact that there was no option to lock up your belongings. I'm used to most facilities at least having a bring your own lock system. Not here. The studio is carpeted, which I found odd. Oh, and no showers- what if you want to scoot to work after a 6am class? Then on to the class. Since it was one of the first few days they were open, I expected a big introduction from the teacher, welcoming us to Pure Barre, introducing herself etc. I don't even know if I ever got the instructor's name. The class itself was ok. I thought the instruction was a little flat, very disengaged from the students and not a whole ton of cueing about what's happening in the body: form, muscle fatigue etc. More just "lift, pulse, woo!" After we left I was anxious for the day after barre soreness, but nothing. The classes I've taken in the past have left me struggling to get in and out of the car, sit down, go up and down stairs, even laugh. Nothing here! I'll give them the benefit of the doubt- I'm guessing they are still working out some new studio kinks, and the instructors are new. I might be back- but only if my class is free again. read more

I usually prefer working out by myself at a gym. I don't really like the idea of people seeing me struggle, sweat, and do other unattractive things. However, I've tried a barre class before, and it was alright, so I decided to give it another try. I took advantage of the "Fab Abs Workshop" advertised online to try out a barre class at Pure Barre, it's very close to my house. The "Fab Abs Workshop" was advertised: "This 75 minute PB class will give you the same PB total body workout with additional intense abdominal work to burn away fat and leave you with toned, sculpted, sexy abs". Boy, was it ever intense!! To be honest, it was probably the most challenging workout I have ever done. For most of the hour and 15 minutes, my entire body was shaking. Overall, it was a really good workout, my abs are such a problem area, and it was great to do some really concentrated work on them. The instructor was also really helpful and stopped by to give individual help to those of us who needed a little guidance. The workout was really easy to follow, the instructor gave really good directions and I was able to follow along with everything even though I was new to it. I had a really good experience. A really nice thing about this particular studio is that they provide all the equipment. All you have to bring is yourself! They even provide the yoga mats and cleansing wipes to wipe down all the stuff at the end of the workout since it is all shared. The studio is small, but cute. They have clothing and accessories for sale in the front, and storage in the back for coats/bags/shoes. The staff was really nice and helpful and asked me how everything went since it was my first class there. I would definitely recommend Pure Barre and I've purchased more classes so I will be back for more! read more

For $22 a class, I would expect at least one of the following: - Beautiful studio space - Inspiring instructors and a sense of community - Something really unique about the offering that sets it apart from other fitness brands in the city Pure Barre has none of these. The studio is small, has no showers and only one bathroom. The instructor was friendly but the class feels very scripted/militaristic and the music is really obnoxious. The barre aspect of the class is unique, but other than that it felt like being at a yoga sculpt class without the sense of humor. It's a great workout and I'm definitely sore, but for that amount of money I'll stick to CorePower and Moksha. read more

I wanted to love this place. Im an Xtend Barre nut and really enjoy the focus on ballet technique and form. Pure Barre was boring to me because there was no cardio, no ballet, the music was obnoxious, and the tiny repetitive movements went on forever. But I will say that the ladies were nice. It just wasnt for me. read more

I was very skeptical before attending my first class, since I am not much of an exercise class person, but I am so glad I did it. I have been taking 3-4 classes a week for almost two months now and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! The teachers are fantastic, I love the location and I love how it makes me feel after 55 mins of shaking and burning! I've lost 7 punds and inches all over and I feel so much better. I never knew I would say this, but I am actually looking forward to attending each class! The music is great and we move through all the exercises so fast, that the 55 mins feels like 15 mins! Thank you Pure Barre for helping me get back in shape. read more

I got a groupon for this studio and it was worth it. the class is easy to follow and they correct you often when you do not have the correct form. Great workout for all types of people of different abilities read more

This is the best darn workout class I have ever done. I am sooo much stronger and more balanced. The place is super friendly and the workouts are always a challenge, never boring. Highly recommend. I am a better runner because of this. read more

Absolutely loved working out at Pure Barre in Minneapolis! I went here for my first PB class and am now hooked! The staff and instructors were so user-friendly and helpful every step of the way. I highly recommend this place if looking for a way to change your body. read more

I love this studio! The instructors are amazing and the classes continuously evolve so you're always being challenged.

This is by far my favorite workout spot. I'm always leaving with a good sore, knowing I worked muscles. The location is great, right off of 7 or 100. The instructors are amazing. They are wicked friendly but also kick your behind. Don't be fooled, it is a much harder workout than it looks! So glad my friend introduced me to Pure Barre in St Louis Park! read more

I just started going about 2 weeks ago, but I love it. Some reviewers say that there isn't enough instruction for newcomers, but I've taken 6 classes with 6 different instructors and while they didn't explain the moves, they did come around to adjust and clarify to me personally knowing I was new, which was perfect for me! All of the instructors introduce themselves to you when you enter if they don't recognize you, which definitely makes you feel welcome when you're new and don't know anyone! I was hesitant to join here because the reviews aren't as good as some other barre places, but I'm so glad I did! read more

Clean studio; fun and fast workout class. I like that they have early-morning classes. It takes about 5-10 classes to get in the groove of class. I love the arm workouts. read more

I have been attending Pure Barre since April and I absolutely love it! I'm unable to commit to a regular night, so I have seen most instructors and have no complaints! The work out: If you push yourself and do it right, the results are amazing! I have seen transformation already! I suggest committing to at least 2 classes. The first one you really don't get the full effect, because it's so different and once you learn you really feel it the second time! The instructors: They push you to work hard, and help guide and correct you along the way, which I love! I'm not paying to come and do it the wrong way! They also care about the clients. They are there to help others and if you have any interaction with them, you will see that right away! It's like a culture of people helping people and it feels great to be apart of! Thanks ladies for making my experience great and for helping me achieve my goals of getting my pre baby body back!! read more

This was my second time at Pure Barre however I have been doing Barre classes for years. Maybe it was the teacher but there was no description or example of what a tuck, freeze or squeeze was and the teacher would just continue with her script providing zero direction for the students. We were all looking around at each other like how do we do this....I don't think I will return to these studios but they seem to have a great atmosphere! As an instructor myself, I would provide more examples/description between or during sets. Make the class less scripted. read more

Not good... don't waste your time. It's not worth the $22 per class. That's a bit pricey for one class. I will stick with Yoga Scuplt classes at Lifetime or Corepower. I wasn't impressed with Pure Barre and I will not return. read more

I have attended four classes now so I feel I have given it plenty of time to review. I find the classroom very clean and inviting. It has a small intimate feel to it which I prefer to a hard wooden floor with a cold sterile feeling. The small classes lends to helpful and constructive monitoring by the instructor. After four classes I feel I am mastering some of the exercises but I realize I have a long ways to go to get the full benefit. I am a runner so I am fairly fit but like most runners, I need to gain strength in my glutes and core if I want to continue to run. I feel these classes are just want I need. I look forward to the time I spend in the studio every Thursday morning. It's a very pleasant change to lifting weights in a loud studio or gym. So far I'll give the studio 5 stars!! read more

Just started a couple months ago and absolutely love it! Such a great work out and the instructors are the best!! Highly recommend!

I have been visiting pure Barre St. Louis Park since March. It takes five- ten classes to really get the flow, after that I was addicted. I go three to five times a week and look so forward to it. I love the positive ladies that run the studio. I highly recommend the free "breaking down the barre class" which shows you correct form more in depth. I like this method, for woman especially, because it is a full body work out that concentrates on micro movements using small resistance or your own body weight. Results are long lean muscle instead of the bulk. You do not just get leaner, you get stronger! If a person claims "they don't feel it" the next day or during class, they simply are not doing the movements correctly and/or pushing yourself. You should be shaking. There is an investment for the classes, but it is no more than core power. Plus I can't really put a price tag on being able to fit into my high school prom dress at 30. Go to there. read more

I went to Pure Barre with my Alumni Sorority group! This is a great place for a private event--very personal and a great workout. Here is my honest truth: With this being my first time (but someone who works out), I found it to be odd. I think it's a great workout but I definitely think you need to go quite a few times to start working those muscle groups. I work out and do Yoga but this was a whole different type of workout--so I think it's a great way to get your muscles tone. A plus is that they obviously have a great community--and they really make you feel like you are a part of a team! Their instructors seem very friendly, and it appeared that their staff genuinely cares about whether or not you found a benefit in the workout. I would love to go back--but they don't yet have locations near Apple Valley. Another thing--the price tag is high so the commitment almost requires that this is your only workout outlet. read more

I was a little skeptical of taking a class at Pure Barre given how poorly rated it is here on Yelp, but I thought with the amount of people elsewhere enjoying barre classes and with the unlimited $99/month new client special I figured I'd give it a try and not base my judgement purely on a couple bad reviews. And boy was I glad I tried it! I am a marathon runner (so very used to working my body hard with tough cardio) but this class was successful at not only working my muscles but also getting my heart rate up a few times. The class works all the trouble spots for for women - thighs, butt, arms, and core. I have only been to 3 classes, but I can tell that with a few more and being consistent with it about 3-4x a week, I will see my waist get smaller and my muscles more toned. I will continue to come keep coming. I think that the bad reviews were during a different choreography because I think it is extremely challenging! I shake on almost every move and I love that - means that its working! read more
