Today was my first time at Lifetime and it was a great experience! I came on a friend's guest pass for the 9:30am AMP Cycle class taught by MaryBeth M. Overall, the facility was large and clean from the small portion of it I saw. It seemed like everyone on the weight floors had plenty of personal space. We were in the cycle studio downstairs, and it was beautiful and clean with probably about 50-100 bikes. Before I review the class, I'll put my fitness level here: I workout 6 days a week, 4 of those days are strength training/lifting paired with cardio or walking. I take one Orangetheory class a week, and normally add in a pilates/full body day. I'd say I'm in great shape, but am not very coordinated. Today's workout replaced my normal pilates. The AMP Cycle class was a great time, and it definitely has to do with the amazing instructor, MaryBeth. You could tell that the 9:30am Saturday class was full of regulars by the way she greeted and chatted with everyone. My friends introduced me and she was eager to help if I needed anything. My friends helped me adjust my bike and get me into position since I had never taken a spin class before. The class itself was the perfect level of endurance cardio challenge for me! I was able to take little to no breaks and keep up pretty well. Since I'm very uncoordinated and not great with rhythm, some of the moves on the bike were hard but easy to modify so I didn't go flying off the bike (I did have a couple of close calls lol). The music choice was a super fun mix of pop, hip hop, and EDM - all super upbeat and awesome to workout to. There were fun lights as well, which kept me motivated and having fun. Again, what took the class to the next level was MaryBeth. She's a fun motivator and easy to follow - one thing I appreciated is she never made references to pushing harder to look better - she always made it very self-fulfilling and about your heart and mind, without getting too soul-cycle-y. She even said an amazing heartfelt thank you at the end, which you could tell she meant - especially in a room full of regulars. On my way out, I also stopped at the Lifetime Cafe for a protein shake. I ordered the body builder (protein & creatine) with vanilla powder, strawberry & banana. It was a great little smoothie, but the protein was a little chalky. It also felt a little overpriced being $10 - but I got the vibe that Lifetime is a little more upscale so I understood the price. Overall, I would definitely come back for one of these spin classes or try another class if my friend has a guest pass! I personally do not need a full Lifetime membership at this stage in my life, but it's definitely something I would consider in the future. read more

Huge open gym area for the machines (for anyone is claustrophobic), nice pool area that LTF shares with the Maple Grove Community Center. In order to visit the pool, you get a wrist band from the LTF staff just before the door to the pool. The staff who work this area are awesome! In between folding towels and banding/removing bands, they have a friendly word and smile to offer members. I like the cafe area-the strawberry smoothie was wonderful after a swim! read more

We moved from California about four months ago and Minnesota winters can be brutal. After having a great relationship with our local YMCA we were a little bummed we didn't have one in our immediate area. Most people we talked to kept telling us Lifetime was the place to go to connect with folks and escape the winter blues. The staff made membership pretty easy and it's month to month so there is no long term contract. Things I love: Good classes for my wife (spin, cardio, burn etc) Amazing courts for basketball and volleyball Indoor track Great machines and free weights Access to trainers Childcare included up to 2 hours a day Free towel service Incredible indoor and outdoor pools Parents night out activities Things that are frustrating: It gets busy - really busy Locker rooms are often really wet and feel dirty With spa and cafe it feels like they are trying to hard to make it a one stop shop Each Lifetime has different activities and since Maple Grove is an older community it isn't as solid as Plymouth for kids activities and that is too far a drive (all Minnesotans say everything's i20 minutes away, I call BS) Staff needs to remember they are customer service Fees are highest I have seen for a non tennis club gym. In Maple Grove it likely is the best option and our family has enjoyed the pools but I'm not sure it is worth the $. read more

The check in people were very nice and helpful when I went. I took a Zumba class there and it was fun. This lifetime is pretty spacious and there's a lot of machines to use. They have a good size parking lot and the location is great! In the summer you can go to lifetime and then you can go for a walk outside or vice versa. There are pickle ball courts outside about a minute a way if you're a pickleball fan. So if you don't want to pay and play inside you could always walk/drive and play on the courts near there. read more

This is a nice location. I had no idea that it was attached to the Maple Grove Community Center. We were on the community center side and then pulled out the GPS and realized Lifetime was on the other side. Always looking for locations with an outdoor pool in the summer. This location has a large indoor pool area with a rope swing, slides and swimming area. The outside when hot is quite packed. The zero depth part is not deep at all, a very small lazy river where you have to hang on to a noodle and a smaller play area with a slide and a rope to climb across for kids. A fair amount of lawn chairs, tables, snack bar. The family locker room at this location is amazing and quite nice and large. Our location is so small, but it makes sense since it connects to the outdoor pool. They give you a band that differs from the community center. Front desk was lovely and very helpful. Overall this is a nice and clean location. read more

I've been going here since it was a Northwest club years ago...sorry to say that not much has changed as far as updates go. This is a nice club as far as health clubs go and probably deserves an extra star but. They have a very good pool here, good gym area for playing basketball, good track for running and walking and a large workout area. When Lifetime bought it they did put a lot of new equipment in and fix the place up. The worst part is the change rooms. They are very crowded with small lockers, narrow isles and about half the room that other Lifetime's have. They have a good hot tub, sauna and steam room but really need to enforce club rules in these rooms (they do a better job than the Fridley club mind you, too many old, fat naked Russians). I will say the Salon here is great, $20 for a mens cut, wash and style. My other beef is the Fitness Trainers downstairs. I have been going here 5 days a week for the last 3 months solid and not one of the six of them have ever said hello. People upstairs are very nice but these people seem to have a stick or weight up their *ss! KT read more

This is not my home Lifetime. In fact, I've only used the cardio floor a couple of times. It was fine. The TVs aren't in a good place for the machines I like. Sad for me. However, I have used this pool at least 100 times. Have I ever swum laps? Nope. the schedule is a little confusing for my purposes. I swim with my kids, year round. If I was only grading the recreational pools, I might even give five stars. They share the building with the Maple Grove Rec Center. The staff here is cranky. Like when my husband checks us in while I'm holding the swim bag and a child and they make me get out my card and then tell me if I've ever been let in without showing my card (say, oh DOZENS OF TIMES) that first of all, I'm remembering wrong and IF it happened once, that employee was probably immediately FIRED. Thanks for the swimming buzz kill. Oh and to the front desk worker who said I must not come very often bc she doesn't recognize me? Really? My four year old recognized you. Also, I travel around a bit and I think the crowd here is cranky too. Yes, you should not use your smart phone on the stairs. The locker rooms are a bit small, but by no means is this the smallest LifeTime. Haha. They have a gym! HAHAHA. (Maybe some people are remembering the dearly departed Highway 100 location? That place was HUGE. No wonder they knocked it down) I expect bad locker room behavior in the main locker rooms, but the family locker room can be cut throat too. Everyone should stop using entire benches for all their stuff. We're in a LOCKER ROOM. There are LOCKERS for your bags. Back to the good stuff. Zero depth indoor and outdoor pools. I love that during summer we can go back and forth easily. Both pools have some of those little fountains kids love. You cannot bring anything inflatable, so leave the water wings at home and put your non swimming kids in life vests. Do bring a few small toys. Balls, cups, swimming dolls. Lifetime members, use your free towels. I use the MG Community side for bathroom trips and appreciate their typical pool snack bar. The snack bar upstairs is pretty good too. The Life Cafe kids meals are a shockingly good deal. There is a small slide in the indoor pool that my children adore. I have watched them as preschoolers use this slide again and again and again. That slide might get five stars from me if only I didn't have to deal with all the other typical LTF crap. read more

The staff at the Maple Grove Lifetime Fitness are awesome - from the Group Fitness Instructors to the maintenance crew. The entire club has a feel of "come as you are and welcome" and there is a general courtesy given to almost everyone arriving at the club - the person walking in just ahead of you will hold the door open for you! The club just went thru a main floor carpet restoration last week and they also put in a couple of new machines that you will notice if you are a regular. The parking at this club is pretty good, with ample overflow parking next door at the Maple Grove Library parking lot next door which comes in very handy on Saturday mornings - especially during the months of January and early February (until the newbies drop off). This club is a re-badged Northwest Swim and Fitness Club which means the lockers are very small and the entire locker room setting is sub-par for a Lifetime Fitness (at best). As evidence of this - just check out the family locker rooms which were built after Lifetime fitness took over and are Lifetime Fitness standard. Maybe one day soon the main locker rooms will get a much needed make-over? I have my fingers crossed and I have put all of my positive energies towards that when I talk to the club staff. read more

This is the second Life Time Fitness club I've visited, and once again, I was immensely impressed with the overall club experience this location delivered. Visiting Maple Grove for work, I came to this club twice last week to escape my hotel gym, and what an escape it was: huge, open, airy workout floor with treadmills and elliptical machines as far as the eye can see, new and clean weight equipment, an indoor track, and plenty of space to do individual workout/stretch exercises. Nate D., one of the club's managers, came out to greet me when I arrived, and he was as kind as could be - like meeting an old friend. He gave me the lay of the land, and he provided me with his card and contact info should I have any questions or feedback for him. In short, I would highly recommend this location to others - this club delivers on every level. read more

My wife and I joined Lifetime Fitness in Maple Grove when it was originally Northwest Athletic Club. Over the years we went to the club to maintain our weight but the exercise didn't have any structure. About 4-5 years ago, we decided to get serious. We joined in on the 90 day challenges and 60 day challenges which helped us both lose weight and added consistency in our workouts. Fast forward a couple years and our programs became somewhat boring and we both plateaud and we couldn't make additional improvements. Then we were convinced by one of the trainers to try their Boot Camp classes. 21 months later, we're still attending the 5:30 am class and wouldn't miss it for anything. This Lifetime looks like an older gym, but still has some decent amenities. There's plenty of cardio equipment, tvs, weights, etc. The indoor and outdoor pool are shared with the community center next door, so there are usually a lot of people using it. On busy days it can be tough finding lounge chairs. The indoor pool has a lap pool that they convert to a volleyball area. A rope swing and short climbing wall are in the pool next to it. The larger indoor pool has a zero entry area and play area for kids. The deeper end has a water slide. They keep the water fairly warm, or is that because all the kids pee in the pool? The outdoor pool also has a zero entry area and a larger play set for kids. There's a lazy river and a small bridge that kinda can play on. Noodles can be hard to come by for the lazy river. Some kids take four of them to float. For the bridge, kids have to be able to swim by themselves in case they fall in. If parents try to help their kids cross the bridge expect the lifeguards to yell at them. The gym isn't bad, but I've seen much nicer and cleaner Lifetime gyms. read more

I don't like this location. Not one bit. Why? First: It's small. Really small. I don't know if it's because it was originally a different workout chain or what, but it's got to be the smallest square footage of any LifeTime in the Twin Cities. Second: It lacks equipment. Especially in the free weight area. It's super small. Thirdly.... What irks me the most is that it has ridiculous hours. Went in at 6:30pm on a Sunday to do some lap swimming. Went at 7:15pm on a Monday. Both times: Pool is closed. Most of the other LT's are 24 hour gyms and the pool is always open. It struck me as super lame that the pool wasn't open. And it's not like it's closed for maintenance or cleaning or whatever. The pool closes at 6pm every Sunday, and 7 on weeknights. That is really, really, dumb. The cafe/store also doesn't appear to be open past 6pm on the weekends either. I usually grab a protein shake after working out - but not at this location. It's to the point now, when I'm in Maple Grove every Sunday and Monday, I don't even bother going to the gym anymore. I call those my days off. This location is just so disappointing. read more

I just moved to Maple Grove and I was looking for a great place to work out. I decided to check out Life Time Fitness because it's like 2 black from where I live. When I walk in the staff greeted me and was so nice and right then I was sold on signing up for Membership. I check in at the front deck and then one of the staff gave me a tour she did an excellent job on explaining the different classes they have and how to sign up for them on the Life Time Fitness app she was awesome. It's a decent facility. Pricier than an usual gym, life time fitness are generally known for their huge sizes and availability of awesome machines and facilities. This one is not so huge, but is the only one close to me. You can always pay a bit extra to go work out in the one in Plymouth, but the whole point of joining this one was that it's close to house and winter months, you cannot ask for anything more. They have a decent size pool, unfortunately shared by Community Center, nothing bad about it, but you still need to know the days you can't use it. The outside pool is pretty good though, but can only be used in the summer. Enough machinery and weights available, as long as you avoid the peak times 4-6pm, you should be able to workout in peace. They have some good personal trainers who can help you out with some advice. One free session always helps, as I have seen people use machines incorrectly. Enough parking and the staff is super nice as well. There is a day care, spa and healthy corner for your protein shakes and nutrition bars, inside the facility. read more

I personally love to workout at home and do so everyday. Lifetime fitness offers such an array of weights and classes that makes it an awesome addition for my lifestyle :) This is an excellent place for families because of the numerous things you can do. Im writing this review because I've worked in building maintenance for many years of my life. So I have a eye for problems and cleanliness. This building lacks in both these areas. First, for months I have told them about the BLACK mold in the family locker room showers. I have pictures. It appears they never change and clean air filters. The lates problem NO HOT WATER in the family locker room showers. They posted signs that said they are having pipe issues. Really! I didn't know pipes heated the water. The pressure is great. They know it's the hot water heater, but they said it will be fixed by MAY. Of what year? They will come up with the stupidest explanations for the problems they have. For the price they charge, they can do much better. I would like to close with a positive note. They have a employee named Leah. She is the only one that never stops cleaning. This lady works her tail off and It appears nobody appreciates all the hard work she puts in. Even when she is pushed to her limits, she has always had a great attitude. This is just another company looking to extract every dollar they possibly can from you, and could care less about you as an individual. The facility is nice enough, but the organization and employees push you to empty your wallet. Incredibly disappointing especially with the lack of visibility on their policies. They never mention you have to give 30 days notice to cancel but EXPLICITLY push that it's a "month to month" contract. Very deceptive and not a customer centered business. I love this place!! I go here all the time. The front desk staff is very nice and friendly, the childcare center is awesome, and the cardio equipment that I want to use is almost always free. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because of the classes, most of the classes are amazing but they're usually super-crowded and I don't think the offer enough for how popular the classes are. Also, I'm not crazy about the yoga choices, there is no hatha yoga or hot yoga offered. My old Lifetime had a lot more yoga classes. read more

I really enjoy Lifetime Fitness... We technically belong to the Plymouth club, but frequent the Maple Grove club because we now live closer to it. It is a bit smaller than Plymouth, but I love the set up of the workout area they have to do your own mat excises and it's great that they have an indoor track, too. The women's locker room is completely filthy. Especially the steam room. I complained twice in a row and staff does not know how to maintain the faciility. I have visited the Eagan, Lakeville, Fridley and Coon Rapids location and their locker rooms were completely clean. The other facilities even close the steam room every night to clean for 2 hours. i don't think the Maple Grove locker room ever gets clean. read more

Me and two of my friends are club members at the Coon Rapids location and decided to pay the Maple Grove location a visit the other day and to our surprise our time at this location was far worse then we would have ever imagined it to be. The gentlemen who was at the front desk made a "joke" that made us all feel super uncomfortable, Im typically not a claustrophobic person but I have to admit that I felt claustrophobic in the tiny locker room, lockers are significantly smaller then the Coon Rapids location, the sauna is extremely small, the hottub in the locker room is not even remotely relaxing, we didn't even get to swim in the pool becuase it was closed by 8pm, the overall layout of the building is horrible...feels like a maze, and the entrance is extremely small and uninviting. Definitely not pleased with this location. read more

I brought my family to the adjacent community center. My daughter is a Lifetime member. The clerk told me that to use the cardio machines for 90 minutes I would have to pay $40! This is disgraceful corporate behavior. A reasonable pass would have introduced me to the facility-I'm in town often-and allowed me to exercise without charging an exploitative and exorbitant fee. read more

Lifetime fitness has many different aspects within the club -café, spa, personal training, child center, and group fitness. The Life Café is a great place to get food that is all natural, fresh, and good for you. The employees are friendly and enjoyable. The spa is a great place to relax after a long, stressful week. They do everything from haircuts to massages. The personal trainers are intense but understanding. The results that they get are impressive. The child center at Lifetime Fitness is fun and entertaining with options for all ages. It gives parents the opportunity to work out without having to worry about their children. Lifetime has fantastic group fitness classes that any member can take without fees. These things are all available only to Lifetime Fitness members. The building and workout equipment are amazing and are kept looking like new. I walked in they are greeted by the Front Desk employees. They are friendly and greeted me by name. Lifetime has a beautiful building. The counters are granite and the wood is a cherry color. Locker rooms are equipped with complementary lockers and towels along with a hot tub and sauna. There is a family locker room provided for those with young children. The pool, which Lifetime shares with the Maple Grove community center, has a waterslide, rock climbing wall, and fountains. There is a leisure pool and a lap pool in the indoor pool area as well as an outdoor pool. The workout floor has treadmills, ellipticals, and stair steppers along with traditional weight lifting machines. The walls are lined with TV's and upbeat music plays all the time. A Basketball court is located in the center of the club. Just above the basketball court is a walking/running track. Although Lifetime Fitness is not what I would call inexpensive, it is worth the cost because it provides so many services that other less expensive clubs can't offer would. The employees at Lifetime are friendly and helpful. They work to make lifetime a place that is fun and inviting for the whole family, with the goal of a healthy way of life for every member. read more

For those of you that have frequented other tc locations (SLP), you know that parking is a pretty hot commodity after work...sometimes so bad that you turn around and go home. There is a new parking ramp shared with the MG library that has made this much better. Also, the fitness classes & instructors are absolutely fantastic! Yes...a little crowded in the classes sometimes. However, overall the gym is great and a pretty good value for a gold location. read more

On January 1, 2013, I switched Lifetime locations from Moore Lake to Maple Grove. I have found the equipment to be very good, plentiful and pretty easy to have access to. Most members will share it if you ask them to. I like most of the employees because of their friendliness and if you extend yourself, introduce yourself, they will generally respond in a positive way. While a couple of trainers sometimes seem to have an agenda that isn't warm and friendly, most of them are helpful if you make contact with them. The locker rooms for me are clean & comfortable to change in. The cafe employees have been prompt and courteous when I order my protein shakes. I've held my hand out several times to other members and said "Hi, my name is------what's yours? Usually get a positive response. I've trained at Northwest/Lifetime for 19 years and find it to be the best of the clubs that I have trained at. My equipment of choice is usually free weights. read more
