However, when I looked at the schedule there are limited options. Unfortunately, only evenings (after 4pm) work for me and this location only has 3 options and those are basically full. If you work from home or not at all you will have lots of options. So sad. My mission is to try new things and go places i decided to try pilates reformer. I didn't know what to expect but I was excited because this was going to be different than floor pilates. I went to the 30min intro class to just try it out. We got some introduction and hopped on. The resistance was super easy, but what I didn't know is I would feel it later, lol. Dana was so great and because of her I'm considering the 8 pack/month pass. The manager was welcoming and they don't pressure you at the end of class to sign up. The class speaks for itself. If you've ever wanted to try reformer go to this location when Dana is teaching for the free (can't beat free) intro class. Even though it was only 30mins I still felt it the next day, in a good way.

I love how passionate the instructors are. I initially signed up for 4 classes per month then I ended up upgrading to 8. That is perfect for me to try different classes offered. I purchased a Groupon for 10 kettlebell classes based on a good review from a fellow coworker who…read moreraved about Christian's instruction and quality of the classes. I've been to four so far and really recommend this studio. He promotes safety by requiring everyone take a Foundations class where he teaches you the basic moves and things such as squat mechanics. It's way better than throwing you into a class with risky form. As a fellow movement professional, safety and form is high priority for me. He also puts together well balanced exercises. Many group fitness classes I've attended don't incorporate all muscle groups (just working the "beach body muscles" you can see in the mirror), and he goes through a wide range of muscle groups in each class. Christian is a very good spirited and fun person. He will kick your butt with good instruction. 30 minutes is perfect for this high intensity interval training type class. It's the perfect length, too. I can just pop over and not feel like I've had to sacrifice my entire evening exercising/bored on a treadmill. I bought a Groupon to save money and will buy some full priced classes afterwards. I'm thrift oriented, so that says something about the quality!

I've been going to Alota Pilates on and off for quite a few years. Starting at their old location…read morein one small room, I attended a variety of mat classes taught by Caryn and really enjoyed them. I have some body issues stemming from injury and flat feet (thanks dad) and caryn not only was respectful of them but also showed me how to modify certain stretches and sequences so as not to hurt myself or cause discomfort and also get the maximum stretch and strengthening. This morning I went to my first mat class (we had a private "family" class with my mom, me, our friend and her daughter) in probably 3 years and it was wonderful. Their new (well, new to me!) space is light, airy and just beautiful. Caryn is a fantastic teacher and is extremely attentive to all in her classes. I will admit, Pilates can be a bit expensive but the effect it has on your body...and really your mind, can be well worth the expense.

Without these two things you could do a lot of Pilates and have nothing to show for it. The classes feel close to having a personal trainer - I haven't ever had one though - who gives you exercises to do at home and helps you stretch afterward. This is based entirely on my experience with Tia. You can buy 10-class packs for $300 (no credit cards). After being reformed, you can venture on to the chair and mat classes.

Definitely beginner friendly class since we were all first timers. I feel like I did not get much of a workout this day but it was more of an intro to Pilates. I get much of my exercise in my home gym and outside when it's nice, but MN winters are not nice. It's hell out there. If you feel the same, you should checkout this place. I was browsing Groupon fitness deals and found Shape Me Group Fitness and went on their site to find out what classes they offer. There's a good variety from Zumba, Turbo Kick, Latin Hip Hop, Mat Pilates, Yoga etc. I went through with my purchase. I was nervous my first time, I went with a Zumba class. All of the instructors are really nice and don't make you feel like a beginner. They make it a point to let you know that no one cares what you look like doing it as long as you're doing it correctly and not injuring yourself. They want to make sure you're getting a good workout, and you're having fun. Which was great because I totally thought I had the moves down, then looked at myself in the mirror and I'm pretty sure I was just running in place and flailing my arms around. It doesn't matter though because everyone else is too busy keeping up, they're not watching you. The classes are always filled with a decent amount of people. You always have room, but you're never looking around like "dang I'm the only person in the mirror." The studio is a good size and you have clear views of the instructor. It's very clean, and there are bins for your personal belongings. My favorite classes so far have been Zumba in the Circuit with Ritzy. It's one minute of Zumba and one minute of machine for 50 minutes. Good stuff. Ritzy is super energetic and motivating, take one of her classes! Turbo Kick with Bao it really good too. I've learned I need to practice kicking higher. I'd never win in a kick off. Dani also works you hard in Zumba, but you feel great about your workout afterwards. All in all you won't be disappointed with any of the instructors here! P.S. For my male friends, there are men there too. Don't be shy!

Rather than being part of a chain, it's a family business, with owner Ritzy teaching many of the classes. If you have a question or a suggestion, she is always available to talk. The instructors always invite you to talk with them after class. The instructors really set the tone for relations among the customers. Their kindness and equal treatment of all means that there's no snobby competition among the students. I've seen everyone from slim, toned model types to plenty of chunky gals like me to people who are badly out of shape and only able to participate for a few minutes at a time. There is a lot of ethnic diversity, too. The studio is clean and comfortable, the cost is reasonable, and there is ample parking. The only downside is that there is not a dressing room, although there is a bathroom where you can change if you need to.
