Chris Wages (if that's even his real name) operates under multiple company names "Strictly Asphalt…read morePaving" and "C & E Paving" to skate around his bad reviews. I was working on a car in my driveway when Chris drove by and stopped to offer me seal coating services, which I did need. We agreed on a price after negotiating and he came back later that day to do the work. This company is full of false promises. Do not pay them a dime until all work is completed to your satisfaction. Chris is a scam artist and acts like a nice charming young man trying to help out his grandfather with his family business. They seal coated my driveway and there was a spot approximately 10 sqft that I requested they seal coat. Chris claims he ran out of material after I paid him and said he would be back in the morning to finish the job. Chris did not return nor did he contact me to let me know when he would be back. As soon as Chris didn't show up, I searched their company name to read reviews and was very surprised and concerned to see such bad reviews, the common theme is that he doesn't get back to you as soon as you pay him and that his '5-year guarantee' is a complete lie. I became very concerned that I would fall victim to his scam and called him immediately (in which he answered right away). I expressed my concerns about his reviews and gave him an opportunity to dismiss my concerns and finish the job that we agreed to. As soon as I mentioned his reviews, he became extremely defensive and combative, a true customer service nightmare and an unprofessional way to speak to your customer. He made ridiculous analogies that I was asking for more than what we agreed to (Again a 10sqft spot to be seal coated), suggesting that what I was asking him for was no different than going to a fast food restaurant and asking for free fries with my meal. Chris goes on to tell me that he still needs to get more material and that he didn't know when he would be back. I continued to press him to give me a date so I could hold him accountable to that, but he refused. Needless to say, he never came back, called back, or returned any of my voicemails.

The owner Chris seems to have amnesia when I call him and explain who I am and makes horrible excuses why he cannot come out to see the issue. Driveway now needs to be redone... makes me sick.

Glen Galis Concrete Contractor - Great job

Before the work…read morebegan, it was very dangerous especially in the winter only having two steps to the front door. This was not even code in Kane County. Glen's installers were very meticulous and timely in getting the work done this past spring. I am constantly getting compliments from neighbors !

I had Glen quote me on fixing my concrete issues. Another company came out, drilled down the uneven concrete and coated the cracks with matching concrete for $100. Is this a lifetime fix? No, cracks do re-open but even brand new concrete can crack over time. Then Glen said to repair walkway was $2500 (completely take up and replace so it sits at higher angle to front patio so the step up to the front concrete porch is not so high up. Another company put in a form and built me a concrete step that makes it possible to not replace the walkway, and then they filled in concrete imperfections and cracks in the sidewalk and left me extra concrete color, if it re-opens. My garage needed a new step (replace old wood one with concrete) and he quoted me $225.00 which is reasonable, and my side step had sunk and he quoted me $525 to replace it. The other company simply added a step to the side concrete, anchored the new form to the house, recoated original step and charged me $200. Their cost on the garage step was similar but they made it extra wide, so we can fully step out on it. I guess what I'm saying is there is more than one way to fix concrete, and Glen only does it the expensive way. If you have a large budget (I would have had to allot $8000.00), then yes, go for it. I also had concerns that all the drilling of the front patio would affect cracks in basement wall on that side and re-open them and queried Glen re that in the email (no response). Glen does not respond well (if at all) to emails, so remember to call. I think that he does great work, but remember it's only replacement work. He's not going to offer you any kind of "fixing" it work. I've learned through watching the other mason work, that concrete is fixable, also, by a home owner. It's fascinating watching him mix colours to match whatever imperfection needs patching. I now have fixed some low places and cracks in my garage floor myself!!
