Had work done. They ran out of asphalt and wanted us to pay immediately so they could go get more. I was in my best friends funeral. They then went to cash my check at the bank ($2,000) and the bank had a $500 limit. They yelled and screamed at the staff to the point they were going to call the police. Instead. I had to leave the funeral. They didn't finish the job and did shitty work. We had a 5 year warranty and they never came back. Illinois attorney general ended up contacting me for a case they are working on them. C & e paving also goes by strictly asphalt. Ah yes. C&E, Driveway Solutions, et al., showed up on my doorstep offering "left over" gravel for about $190. I knew something was wrong when a dump truck showed up. Long story short, the $190 job turned into a $1700 job. I called the police, who had already dealt with this company. Before the police showed up five minutes after the call - they had fled. When the police cars left, they returned to collect. They didn't realize a sergeant had waited behind to entrap them. Yes, it was stupid and naive of me to hire them without a contract. But, this story shows you what type of people they are. When I was in South Carolina, I was told of two major traveller families: The Sherlocks and the Murphys. This experience made me wonder if SC hadn't tossed these folks out. read more

This company also goes by other company names "ABC Asphalt Paving" and "Strictly Asphalt Paving" further proving their deceptive tactics. I was working on a car in my driveway when Chris drove by and stopped to offer me seal coating services, which I did need. We agreed on a price after negotiating and he came back later that day to do the work. This company is full of false promises. Do not pay them a dime until all work is completed to your satisfaction. Chris is a scam artist and acts like a nice charming young man trying to help out his grandfather with his family business. They seal coated my driveway and there was a spot approximately 10 sqft that I requested they seal coat. Chris claims he ran out of material after I paid him and said he would be back in the morning to finish the job. Chris did not return nor did he contact me to let me know when he would be back. As soon as Chris didn't show up, I searched their company name to read reviews and was very surprised and concerned to see such bad reviews, the common theme is that he doesn't get back to you as soon as you pay him and that his '5-year guarantee' is a complete lie. I became very concerned that I would fall victim to his scam and called him immediately (in which he answered right away). I expressed my concerns about his reviews and gave him an opportunity to dismiss my concerns and finish the job that we agreed to. As soon as I mentioned his reviews, he became extremely defensive and combative, a true customer service nightmare and an unprofessional way to speak to your customer. He made ridiculous analogies that I was asking for more than what we agreed to (Again a 10sqft spot to be seal coated), suggesting that what I was asking him for was no different than going to a fast food restaurant and asking for free fries with my meal. Chris goes on to tell me that he still needs to get more material and that he didn't know when he would be back. I continued to press him to give me a date so I could hold him accountable to that, but he refused. Needless to say, he never came back, called back, or returned any of my voicemails. read more

I want to warn everyone to never deal with C&E Paving. Chris Wages (630-768-8254) stopped by at our house offering to fill out cracks and claiming they will be gone next morning. Of course cracks were still there in the morning. we kept calling him and he stated he will stop by to fix it, never came and stopped answering messages/calls. I really wish we did our homework, but its too late now. He uses white pick up truck ( I think it was saying Strictly Paved) or something claiming that driver is his grandpa. Hope you get this before and not after. If "Chris Wages" from C&E Paving aka: "Intelligent Paving" rings your bell, slam the door! This kid is super smooth! He offered to fill in the cracks and add material to a sunken spot of my driveway so to be level with the garage floor and seal coat the entire drive way for $150.00. After 30 minutes he had sprayed the drive way, over sprayed both sides of the adjacent lawn and public sidewalk without filling in the cracks or adding any material to the sunken area and instead of $150.00 said it would be $400.00. He's going to ask for cash. I don't think he's set up for credit card. Don't be afraid to send him away empty handed or stop payment on your check. B.B. is right. If you need to call the Cops do it! I live in Union Illinois and recently had a black top driveway installed by this C & E Paving. Within 3 months the asphalt started to crack, and shows tire marks from our vehicles. I have called Chris multiple times and left messages. When he did contact me back he stated he would come out and look at project, he never did. Very disappointed in this company. I also live in Naperville and had C and E (Chris and Larry Wages) resurface my drive way, they pitched the drive way the wrong way so when it rains the water comes in the garage big time. I called Chris about this and he said he would fix the drive, I have been unable to get a hold of him since for over two weeks he doesn't return my calls, Do Not use C and E Paving they do a bad job and don't stand behind their work. I recently had my driveway paved by this company. They added asphalt to the existing drive and then widened the drive by 6 inches or so. The area that was widened immediately began to sink with the weight of my car and began to erode. This began happening within three days of the work being done. I contacted Chris Hayes with C & E and left a message. They were supposed to return and seal coat the drive. Chris did not call me back. I kept calling and eventually got ahold of him. He said his phone was broken. He promised to come out and look at the drive the next Wednesday between 10 and 1 pm. He never showed up and never called. I called him two more times. He never returned any of my calls. I later looked them up on the BBB and saw they have two recent complaints. Shame on me for not doing that before I contracted with them. Beware of this guy. He comes off as being nice and reputable, but he does not stand by his work. I will have to pay someone else next season to fix his poor quality work. read more
