I took my daughter to get acrylic nails for her first homecoming and they turned out so bad we went home and soaked them off! They were angled upwards and some were crooked. I finally found a place in the area who does good french dip manis! I moved here a year ago from Tampa, and have struggled to find a place. I am now a regular and get gel pedi+ my french nails here. worst pedicure I have ever had. literally lasted less than 20 minutes maybe even 15. Told the lady I had an ingrown toenail and she kept telling me to go see a doctor. I have had may of pedicures and they have always felt better after having a pedicure, mine hurts worse than I did when I went in. I literally walked out without any shoes on I was so pissed. My friend and I went to this salon for a pedicure. We both agreed that it is our least liked salon in The Villages shopping area for the following reasons: Cons: -poor customer service -Enid did my polish change & did a poor job on the nail trim and polish. Nails were cut crooked and not filed. A file was used but it barely touched any nails. 1 star -when I brought this to the attention of reception before paying, I got a blank stare, then was told by the lady at the computer that it'll get corrected immediately. 1 star - Enid corrected my polish by painting more on top instead of removing the polish & starting over on several toes. 1 star - My friend had a pedi and Alex left a few polishless spots on the toes and didn't clip the cuticles and hangnails very well-meaning, some got trimmed & others didn't. 1 star Pros: The facility is clean and most everyone who did not have a customer was cleaning something. Some places, the nail techs are sitting and playing on their smart phones while the facility looked like it could use some tidying up. 4 stars for cleanliness. read more

I decided to give Solar Nails a try due to their good reviews and I'm very happy with my decision. I enjoyed my pedicure so much that I booked another one 2 weeks later. I'm currently writing this review one week after my pedicure and I'm still happy with the way my toes look. Paint is still looking like day one. I liked the way they answered the phone and how easy it was to book the original appointment. They then sent me a confirmation text with time of appointment. That toe photo above is gross. Wish that would go away. I found Solar after I asked a check out clerk at the super market where she had her nail art done. Geez, I remember the only place I could get nail art used to be in Korea town in L.A. Times have definitely changed. Solar Nails is just as fine place as any to get your nails done. I liked my guy - he lived in L.A. so we had a lot to talk about. I have not yet found anywhere stellar to go in the area. We are spoiled in the North East getting massages with our manicures. Everything down here is so mechanical and lacking in special touches. Even if you go spend $40 on a manicure at Tuscany, you don't get anything special so why bother spending the extra $. Sadly, average nails and average food is the norm around The Villages so you make do to counter the positives of living in the bubble. I got a very good gel manicure today. I need to add that I almost walked out at first. I wasn't even acknowledge for the first 10 minutes. The woman at the front desk was one of the rudest people I've ever encountered. Big mistake putting her there. She was annoyed when I had trouble with the check in screen. I sat in a chair and no one said a word for 5-10 minutes. I was about to get up and leave when my manicurist approached me. She was very nice and talented. I will go back to see her. I've been here several times. Some of the nail techs are good, most not. But the biggest issue is the idiot at the front desk. Today was the latest debacle. I had an appt made 2 days ago and they texted me twice to remind me. When I got there, she said that I had a 'request', not an appt and that my requested person wasn't available. When I asked what good an appt was if I couldn't request a specific person, she started yelling at me that she wasn't working when the appt was made so it didn't count. Quality not there. Got polish on my flip flop and on my surrounding toes. Nail technician did not clean it off my toes. $30.00 for gel coat on my child's fingers and $22 for regular polish on her toes. Water in tubs did not move around due to plastic bags. Chair did not vibrate. At home, in Chicago, I can get $22 mani-pedi for a child. Next time I will ask kids prices...I just assumed it would be less...her nails are so tiny. read more

First and last time going here! Whatever you do don't use Anna! She is a con- artist. I went here to have my gel polish removed and then a regular pedicure. The girl they gave me spoke ZERO english. She had no idea what she was doing. She removed my gel polish with the drill! The girl drilled so hard that it went to my nail bed and made a red line across all my toenails. I tried to express to this girl she needed to wrap then with the tin foil and get the cotton pad. She just smiled at me. I then made a stink in the salon about it (everyone heard me) Little Miss Anna comes over and says let me make it up to you. This girl is new and doesn't know how to wrap the foot etc. That she was sorry etc... Anna then proceeded to tell me that since I had such an issue that she would give me a "free mani" or free gel for my finger nails. I said how much? Free, free, no charge. And she tells me that she wont charge me for the "gel removal" $5. I sit at Anna's station and she dipped my fingers in COLD water for less than a minute, tells me that my nails don't need cutting, I challenged her on that and made her trim all of them. She then proceed to buff the living daylights out of my nails to the point where they were burning from the friction! NO cuticle removal, nothing! That was it.. (7 minutes later I was shuffled to the cashier) The cashier who was completely clueless told me I have to pay $38. I was in disbelief? I asked her what for? She says a Mani & Pedi. I then told her that Anna told me it was going to be a free mani. She shook her head and said Anna just told me the price. I was taken advantage of. Coned out of my money by Anna who lied to me as the customer. Anna is a smooth talker and makes you believe that she is genuine and honest. I really thought that she wanted to please me so that I would maybe return in the future. I felt duped at the end. I went in to get my little sisters nails done and I just answered emails and such while I waited for her. She's 17 and able to speak for herself but they kept over looking her to ask me how to do her nails. I was on the phone with a client when she was trying to ask me something and the nail tech was snapping her fingers at me. Completely unprofessional and rude. At the end of the service, I noticed that her nails were crooked and really uneven. The nail tech had also cut her fingers multiple times and poured alcohol on them to stop the bleeding. My poor sister cried while leaving the salon because they were still stinging. I paid $55 for this. I overheard another nail tech being rude to an older lady that was trying to tell him he was putting the wrong color on her nails. Another customer that I saw was an older man that paid $65 for a pedicure that took 5 minutes. He just got his toe nails cut! Completely disrespectful. Due to back problems and being 85 years old I can no longer bend down to cut my toe nails. On my last of 5 visits to Solar Nails I politly explained to the receptioness the last time I was in I requested the my nails be cut short and they were left long. I explained it may have been the result of a lanquage problem. It was my unluck to be give the same pedicurist. She seemed angery that I complained about my last visit. On both visits I tiped $10. She seemed to attack my nails rather than cut them. The picture taken by my wife the next day shows the result of her work. My toes have become swollen and infected. I will go to the ER room tomorrow if the infection does not get better. read more
