I am a medical practitioner who also happens to have had a long history of insomnia, punctuated by mild apnea. I am also a Kaiser member, and have had sleep studies, taken medications, and have been evaluated by psychological people to figure out why I wasn't getting a good night's rest. After trying the standard C - Pap machine without any luck due to how cumbersome and uncomfortable it was, out of desperation, my wife called Dr. Brodwin's office to see if his services would be of help to me. I'm not a big Yelp reviewer, but after only 24 hours, I feel compelled to leave a review for him. He immediately got back to myself and my wife, calling from his cell phone on his day off, and driving in from Lafayette in order to evaluate me and give me a temporary solution until Kaiser would come around to referring me to him, which they still have yet to do. He made a temporary device for me that I am trying out, and after driving in and spending an hour and a half with us on his day off, we were charged much less than we expected. The following morning, after trying the device out and getting a much better night's sleep than I had hoped for, Dr. Brodwin called me up on a Saturday to check in on me and give me suggestions. He suggested an ancillary thing that might help, and offered to drop it off at my office, as I was working that day. There are a lot of other things that I could say about the doctor and his great bedside manner, but what strikes me the most is his kindness and understanding of how horrible it can be to not be able to sleep, and the fact that he has gone so far out of his way to help me. That alone deserves a five star review. I would go on and say more, and perhaps I will, but I'm writing this on an iPad, and if I had to give a yelp review for the iPad keyboard and voice recognition, it would get one star. Later... By the way, though he is a dentist with a few decades of experience, his practice is no exclusively around sleep medicine, and his yelp page should somehow indicate that.

With the tests saying there would be a benefit, Dr. Brodwin meticulously took molds of my upper and lower teeth and explained the rest of the process. A few short weeks later, the dental appliances were ready. In my second visit, we tried on the appliances - and amazingly they fit perfectly! I was astounded - but wait, it gets better. The first night I tried using the dental appliance, I slept soundly with no breathing problems - and most importantly, my wife slept soundly!! My Mom died of dementia and I was worried I was headed in the direction. My journey started with him in late 2018 and continued early in 2019. At that time my first consultation was $500 for 60 minutes, then a 25 minutes appointment was $300. He did raise those prices while I was still getting treated. He was wonderful, compassionate, and heard my issues like no doctor had ever done. I often got teary eyed when he would give me feedback because I was so desperate. Financially, it was a huge strain. He recommended I do the 5 day Brain Save Program, which was $4995.00, the MBCW 12 week treatment plan for $1,995.00. I did both programs and bought all the supplements that he recommended. I did an elimination date for 30 days right off the bat, which made a tremendous difference. My gut was a mess. The 12 week treatment included infrared light treatment, oxygen treatment and some kind of vibration therapy, and the sauna treatment. I loved everything about my time spent there. I definitely spent over $10,000 in the few months I saw him. The treatment dropped off after the conclusion of my MBCW 12 week SESSION. I don't know how I dropped off, because he said they would follow up with me to see how I was doing. At the end he got my results of my GI MAP test $525, and my SIBO test, $345, and gave me the print out of both tests, but I never got a explanation from him because honestly, his $500+ office visit was just more than I could afford for the test explanation. Sorry I didn't do that, but I can't imagine how much he charges now. He works mostly, I felt like, with concussion patients when I was there. Most of the people I spoke to while we were there together had some brain trauma. I found all of my issue cleared up once I cleared my gut issues up. He is also a chiropractor, and I saw him for a few sessions, which were wonderful. Initially we thought my occipital pain came from inflammation, so I had hoped me changing my diet would help, but I had an extreme painful neuralgia during my treatment with him. I have now found out that it's a posture issue, which I found out through process of elimination. It was a once in a lifetime treatment for me because of the cost, and fortunately, my brain fog and gut issues went away with my change of diet. For me, I probably could have seen just a function medicine doctor and had a similar result. Now that I have educated myself more on gut issues, brain fog is a very common symptom for gut issues.

Unfortunately, like with some other reviewers here, my experiences were disappointing and unhelpful. Here are some highlights of my experiences: - Being hooked up to the TENS machine and subsequently, left alone/ignored for most of the rest of the visit, even when I had questions/concerns about the machine. (I'm talking, 20-30 minutes/this took up the bulk of each appointment time, with the shortest appointment between 40 minutes). Also, every single visit, I was given a different set; seemed like Susan misplaced the one I had from a previous appointment each time. - Having ultrasound gel spread over my hand..maybe 5-10 minutes - At 2 appointments: a 2-3 minute hand massage My hand saw little improvement by even this clinic's own objective assessments/using their measurement tools. Despite the lack of improvement even after coming several times, I was never given any additional exercises/recommendations for at-home. (I thought I might have been misinformed/ignorant to expect more or different services, but even my referring doctor and her assistants expressed shock that I was never taught/encouraged to do much home exercises.
