Okay so this is a location with many many hairdressers so I only can really speak for mine, and the location itself. Finding where to go was tricky, because there are two different sola salons in the same parking-lot! One is down two stores from the other. Kinda confusing, so make sure you contact your person to confirm where to go! I was late the first time, partly because I couldn't find it for a moment, but also because parking is tricky in McHenry village. Just a heads up. My hairdresser is trained as a barber too, which is essential for a good pixie or more masculine haircut, which is what I want as a nonbinary individual. Had the hardest time finding someone who knew their way around clippers, so I'm quite relieved and grateful to Courtney Nicole for being trustworthy and skilled. My anxiety (from a former bad experience getting my ear nicked at another place) finally disappeared! And my hair looks amazing. read more

It's a beautiful thing. A major collection of salons, all under one roof. The aesthetic is modern & chic, urban & sophisticated. The SSS are located all over Northern California. I was a client of the San Francisco studios, & always thought it was a cool concept. Each salon is independently owned. The design & layout of the studios is the same. Essentially, they're comprised of a long hall, w the salons running all the way down on both sides. Floor to ceiling windows. The entries are sliding glass doors. How many salons? Maybe 16...maybe more. Hair, nails, bridal...it's all here for you. In this (the Modesto) collection, there are more than 5 hair salons alone. Booking online is big here, but don't be afraid to do old school & call. An impressive operation. 5 stars. read more

My best friend went here yesterday. She had several pics of what she wanted. A long v cut with the longest point at mid back. Her hair was at waist length. She walked out of there with hair at her shoulders. She told the stylist throughout the time what she wanted and was ignored. She had over ten inches cut from her hair and when she told the stylist she was upset she got an "oh well". She was crying as she walked out of the salon. She cried the entire way home. She has been crying for two days. It took her years to grow her hair to her waist and she trusted this stylist with it. She won't let me post pics because she is so embarrassed. I tried calling the owner and got no call back. This ruined her birthday. read more

The stunt you pulled on me today was definitely a unforgettable experience! 8 months pregnant , new to the area and pre-booked with you FOUR WEEKS IN ADVANCE only to get to my 830am apt 820am and insult me , calling me a liar! You are a FRAUD and keeping clients money or charging them WHEN YOU CANCELLED the apt. You burned me with with your wax the first time and left so much hair during my Brazilian and was super painful the only reason why there was a pre-book is because I am new to the area. So I want to tell everyone about my first experience last night at Sola Salon Studios with "Hair by Kyle" in Modesto located in the Mchenry Village by a hair stylist who I'd found on Instagram who's bio said "blonde specialist" this is the result of my visit I have a "chemical burn" on my scalp.. these nasty yellowish bumps that are itchy and painful. I texted him right away with photos to let him know I was freaking out and he said "it's just irritated, apple aloe vera or Neosporin" which I did but when I woke this morning I had a some blood because "the wound" is open. I'd told him that it was burning my head very badly when I had the bleach and later the toner as well and he didn't wash it out until it was time. Later today I stopped by and he seemed pretty upset that I showed up as his client was being seated I showed him my scalp and he said he'd never seen something like this and that it'd "never happened to him before" I have my hair blonde for awhile now and the other two hair stylists I'd seen never burnt my scalp ever. I am not happy with the outcome. I am very sad that this happened to me and all he did was give me free samples of hair treatment, shampoo and conditioner.. as if I can wash my hair anytime soon. He was very unprofessional in the way he spoke to my father as well! read more

This review is for EBB Brazilian Speed Wax. I have been to several appointments with Barbara and never been a minute late, however I have waited to be seen for my appointment. Today I was scheduled for a 12 appointment and I was running less than ten mins late due to being at work. I called Barbara as I was driving to my appointment and she immediately refused my service telling me I would still be charged without even asking me when I would arrive. I was five mins away from her at that time and I informed her of that. She said she had to be prompt for her clients, which I understand. She had a 30 minute time slot booked for my appointment and I'm usually with her no longer than 20 minutes. There would have been plenty of time for her to still see me. This was terrible service. Rude. I would never expect anyone to throw their schedule off for me, but at least clarify that prior to denying your client their service. Her concern seemed to be informing me that I would still be charged as a "no show". read more
