Lucas is great and has helped me find consistent schedules and workouts to meet my goals. I had an overuse injury from running and Lucas navigated it well building strength while not overdoing it. read more

Lucas is the best! I started seeing him after doing PT for a frayed biceps tendon and he has been great. We've progressed doing full body training but he is always careful not to move too fast on the shoulder, which I appreciate. Lucas is a great motivator and easy to be around. He also instills confidence because he clearly has a great depth of knowledge about exercise and explains everything he's doing. He's worked hard to customize workouts for me that complement my cycling schedule and build the right kind of strength. Couldn't recommend him more highly. read more

I first came to SOL for physical therapy (in the other office upstairs), which was a great experience. As I got back into being active I wanted some guidance to help me avoid injuries. I started training downstairs in the Performance Training office with Allie a couple years ago and am so glad that I did. Allie has tailored our training sessions and my home workouts to whatever I've needed, which has varied a lot since I started working with her. I've dealt with medical conditions and new injuries that have required us to make adjustments, and she has never had a problem coming up with ways to continue working toward my goals. She is perceptive, thoughtful, and always a pleasure to work with. I'm now back to running and playing soccer, and even though I'm several years older than when I last did those things regularly, I feel more confident in my ability to avoid major injuries and recover from the inevitable small ones thanks to the work I've been doing with Allie. The other trainers and staff seem great as well, and everyone here seems to have good attitudes and senses of humor. I think they all have different specialties and I would gladly work with any of them, though Allie is the best. It's a great place to train, the atmosphere is fun and they will push you and guide you in all the right ways. read more

The physical therapists and assistants did a great job in helping me with 2 big problems, a rotator cuff/frozen shoulder and back pain. Kat Mananquil and Lawrence Zhou did a superb job as my primary therapists. They were very attentive and responded to my feedback. Additionally, other therapists and the assistants did a great job as well. I could not have been happier with the experience. read more

This review is about my experience with their personal training program. I'm in my mid-50s with very little athletic experience. After experiencing continuous lower back pain and leg pain issues from working remotely in front of a laptop for over 7 years, I decided to try one of SOL's personal trainers since I had a good experience with their physical therapy program and strength training at home was confusing and didn't feel productive. I signed up for some introductory sessions last Fall to check it out and have continued with them ever since. My initial goal was to strengthen the muscles supporting my lower back so that I can mitigate future lower back pain. Now, my goal has been to maintain and build muscle as much as possible as I age and get stronger overall. Since signing up for personal training and working with Lucas Fraga as my personal trainer twice a month, I have increased my lean mass from 9th percentile to 16th percentile (Jan to April) for my age group per my last 2 Dexa scans. In addition, I have not experienced any lower back pain like I used to and feel the strongest I've ever felt! I still have a ways to go but feel confident that I can reach my goals in the near future with Lucas' help. Although this is my first time working with a personal trainer, Lucas has been very patient in answering all my questions and putting together a personalized strength training program that I can perform consistently and steadily see results. He is very knowledgeable and fun to work with. I recommend Lucas and SOL's personal training program wholeheartedly! read more

Lucas Fraga has been my personal trainer since July 2024, working with my knee and shoulder issues related to aging. He is knowledgeable, conscientious, resourceful in teaching, respectful, always keeps safety in mind. Skilled with all ages. Energy and his positive outlook make workouts fun! read more

I can not speak more highly of Allie, a trainer at SOL. After a major injury and surgery, she has supported putting me back together every step of the way with expert knowledge, kindness, support, and motivation. Each of my sessions with Allie is tailored to my exact needs that week. Allie is able to target whatever physical need or problem I might have and hone in on how to not only recover from injury but also to prevent injury in the future. On top of it all, Allie is a pleasure to be around. There is no individual I can imagine providing the quality physical training I have received from Allie. Thank you! read more

I started coming to SOL for Physical Therapy over a year ago and still do as needed. Recently I added Personal Training with Lucas Fraga. He has been the most inspiring and helpful person in my journey through a long list of injuries. He teaches not just what to do, but how do work safely, how to use pain as a guide rather than a thing to be pushed through, and his deep knowledge of how the body works has allowed me to strengthen muscles in ways I never thought I could. read more

My husband, Lief Sorbye, had great results at SOL Performance Training Center! In his words: "Braxton, Sherman, and crew are highly skilled, and they guided me through exercises that greatly improved my conditions (brought on by an accident last Fall.) Now, after 4 months of PT I'm happy to say I have my strength and mobility back, and I'm pain-free. All done in a friendly, fun, and professional environment!" read more

I hate to leave a bad review for SOL but I just can not move past the way they handled my billing. This review is not for the therapists. I saw Maxim for years for different incidents, most recently a shoulder injury. He is amazing and my favorite PT I have ever worked with. 5 stars for Max. However, I had a few sessions left on my package but decided to pause my treatment due to surgery on the affected area. I asked front desk if I could resume my sessions after surgery and they said yes. I went back to PT after given clearance. Did my two remaining sessions and then was billed $400 because I was outside of the one month period of usage from purchase. When I spoke with management, they said it was up to the billing department and there was nothing they could do besides email billing. They got back to me and said they were able to get me one session covered. I, still perturbed, decided to call billing myself to see if something could be done. The billing company sympathized and assured me it was absolutely not up to them; SOL was able to make their own decisions around how to bill me. Alas, I was still not granted my remaining sessions and got stuck paying for something I had already paid for. I want to add that in a five month period, I spent over $3000 out of pocket at this place as a student and a self employed individual. I have sent clients and friends here for years. On principle, I can not return to SOL nor recommend any of my people go there either, which is a bummer because I have built a lot of rapport with Maxim and appreciate his approach to therapy. Good therapists, but bad business. They have lost a loyal customer. read more

Ive been to a few physical therapists, have had all kinds of MRIs, and have utilized a number of different avenues(cryotherapy, acupuncture, etc). My L4 - S1 was out of whack after a bad powerlifting(deadlifting) accident back in 2016. Maxim, almost within 5 minutes, dispelled all of my diagnoses after 5 minutes of just speaking to him. Not only has he had me on the right path, but the massages i received made me feel and recover in ways I have yet to experience from all my previous therapy. His wealth of knowledge is incredible and speaking to him, you can tell he thoroughly enjoys what he does. Not to mention, has an awesome attitude and just a great person to talk to. I'm going to do whatever it takes to keep going to Maxim, short of jumping in front of an oncoming bus. read more

I first came to SOL in 2016 to treat a knee injury. I've returned each time I hurt myself trying to be Super Dad. Dan was great then and great now. He takes his time to explain what exactly is wrong and doesn't sugar coat recovery. The Physical Therapists, especially Nolan, and staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and really care about your long term recovery. read more

Thirteen months ago I sprained my ankle so badly that I almost needed surgery. After several weeks in a walking boot I began physical therapy with Nolan. It was still swollen 6 months after I injured it and was often tender. By working together we were able to reduce the swelling, increase flexibility, and finally gain strength. I talked to Nolan about the possibility of starting to run again and he offered some advice and important ways I could protect my ankle to prevent a re-injury. Thanks to my physical therapy work and my patience with the healing process, the ankle healed completely; and I've started running! It actually healed so well that I'll soon be participating in my first long distance run: the Ragnar del Sol relay next month in Arizona! (https://www.ragnarrelay.com/race/delsol) For initially having such a debilitating injury, I was more than pleased with the results I achieved with Nolan's help. read more

This. Place. Rocks. I've been taking kettlebells with Tom twice a week for the past month and boot camp with Lance once a week and I've already seen a marked improvement in my strength, endurance, and the way my jeans fit (which, let's be clear, is the MOST important metric). They push you to perform at your highest level without being jerks about it, and are super encouraging and passionate about what they do. They switch up the classes every time so you never get bored, and I'm usually wrecked by the end of the workout, but it feels so good! I've never had more than 6 people in one of the large group classes (and it's usually more like 3 people), so you still get tons of one on one attention even in a group class. I feel like I'm getting a personal trainer 3 days a week for a fraction of the price, and at the rate my body is changing I think it will look like I've had a personal trainer by the end of the summer. :) The studio is great, and I love that they have a lot so some of the classes are outdoors and there's PARKING. I hate gyms, but I love this place. For serious. read more

I have enjoyed many classes at SOL and hope to continue many more. I have taken Ara's TRX bootcamp classes, with a mix of misc group classes as my schedule permits with other instructors. But Ara sticks out from the rest. I faithfully scan all promotions for more opportunities to take classes. I hope to some day pay for 1:1 personal training - I hear they are awesome and would greatly improve performance. Facility is clean, and there is free parking by the entrance. Although there always seem to be parking on the street. I started classes April 2012, through a Groupon. After just 1 class, it trumped any other classes I've taken elsewhere. The instructors are happy, they are knowledgeable and their drive to help you get the best out of each and every workout - is unmatched (to my standards). I highly recommend this place! read more

I owe Nolan a really expensive bottle of scotch. His massages and stretching exercises helped me to walk again after a month of fear and plantar fasciitis pain. I'm a 30-year-old active woman who goes backpacking and does yoga on the regular. One day I couldn't make it home from Bart because my feet were in such pain. The pain continued for a month and I feared I'd never be able to walk comfortably again. Nolan was kind and positive. He educated me about my foot and how it relates to the rest of my leg. He helped me understand what was going on and taught me exercises to help me heal my foot and to manage my flat feet in the future. He made me laugh and really listened. I feel grateful to have met Nolan and to have had the chance to work with him. He's pretty much the best. read more

After my previous physical therapy place closed shop I was referred to Sol PT. I'd been secretly hoping to find a PT experienced in working w/athletes even though I'm just an aging active person; it was an unexpected bonus to have my appointments at their other facility (the newer Sol Performance) with its emphasis on training and conditioning. Serendipity! Tammara and staff have been helping me rehab hip pain due to muscle overuse as well as regain my health after 2 years of acute stress. I've been able to contiguously do some training with Lance and now have transitioned to the group classes (TRX with Luis and kettlebells with Tammara and Tom; FMR with Jasmine). Great workouts - my alignment and strength are improving and I'm starting to bring it all into my other activities. Classes are still small so you receive a lot of attention and correction, all positive and non-judgemental. If I took away half a star, it'd be because there's no shower, but they'd get it back for the free parking in their lot. I'm still just an aging active person who's not training for a marathon or the Olympics, but I feel stronger than I've felt in years, and don't mind getting my a*s kicked (common theme in these reviews) by the Sol Performance team. read more

Tom, Aracelly, Ada & Jason thank you guys for giving me the motivation to get this workout routine back in my life. Wish I didn't have to move to Fairfield :( This won't be the last you'll see of me though. I'll be back soon! I totally recommend this place to any level of fitness from Beginners to Advanced! All the trainers are wonderful at what they do, each in there own way! Wish I could put more then just 5 stars! I never had the pleasure to work with any of the other trainers due to my schedule of working out in the evenings but I'm sure they're just as good. read more

I don't usually do a lot of reviews, but I had to for my experience at SOL. I had a cervical sprain about 3 weeks ago and couldn't turn my head to the left, couldn't sleep very well, and I was getting headaches. I called SOL to setup an appointment about a week after my initial injury. Unfortunately they didn't have anything open for about 20 days so I had them put me on a wait list. I got a call this morning that they had a last minute cancel and had an opening in about 45 minutes so I accepted and took a drive to Oakland. I met with Amy and I'm convinced that if there were Angels that she came down from the heavens to fix my neck. Probably an exaggeration. She explained everything she was doing (some....ok maybe a lot went over my head) which is always great. I know she did some sort of myofascial release, she did some stuff with my ears, and forehead as well. I didn't even know all of that was in any way connected to my neck.....well besides skin. Basically it was like some sort of magic and when she was done I could look to my left with almost no pain. It's literally the best my neck has felt in 3 weeks. She gave me some exercises to do at home as well. I couldn't be more satisfied. Look forward to going back. read more

Worked with the trainer/coach Jason 1:1 to help with my rehab after multiple knee surgeries. Jason is super knowledgable, and not only works you hard, but teaches you how to work out smart and set you on the right path for your personal goals. He definitely knows his stuff, and always spent as much time needed to go into detail in his explanations. Some of the most challenging and motivating workouts I've had here. Loved learning new ways to do my rehab with kettlebells and core work. And its great that Jason worked in conjunction with my therapist at SOL to program the workouts to my specific rehab needs. Thanks SOL. read more

Resting on their laurels now. The place is always over-crowded, noisy and they don't listen, rather force their goals and timelines on you. May be fine for funded, sponsored professional athletes who get to work with their handful of top trainers. Working people with an injury, who stil have to work everyday- not good. They are way too aggressive, hurt you so you can't even work, tell you it's good for you to be in that much pain even when you complain, then they call your physician behind your back, saying you are worse than originally thought, and double or triple the number of appts you originally were prescribed. Stay away! Just a manufacturing line so they can squeeze in as many people as possible, then hand you off to poorly trained techs. read more

I love this place. I've taken some semi-private training sessions with Lance. He's terrific. He considers my fitness goals and the history of my injuries, then creates the perfect customized workout for me each time. The use of kettlebells, TRX, bands, ropes and balls makes it fun and challenging. I look forward to every workout. I'm much stronger now and better able to participate in my other activities. The rest of the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable too. read more

If you're looking for real training, go here. Callie and Lance are my favorite trainers. Both are thorough, precise, and challenging. This place is clean and creative. Highly recommend. read more

SOL is amazing. The entire staff is very warm, friendly, and accessible, and really makes you feel welcome in the space. I've had negative PT experiences in the past with rehabilitating my knee after an ACL reconstruction, and after training at SOL for my ACL I only have positive associations with PT. The DPT I worked with, Emily Malkin, is incredibly talented and really knows how to connect with her patients. She brought me into her thinking around my training as it progressed, such that I finished my PT with both greatly increased physical abilities and an understanding of the concepts involved. I feel more confident in my physical ability than I ever have in the past, and also feel a sense of discipline and commitment to maintaining an exercise schedule moving forward. I would absolutely recommend SOL, and in particular Emily, to anyone. read more

I'm getting so much out of my classes with Lance. His detailed explanations and total dedication to good technique are paying off in great results. He's got four of us women cyclists 2x per week and believe me...he's got his work cut out. Luckily, he can dish it out too so we are all having a blast. I've been looking for a class that compliments my cycling and this is perfect. I'm not really looking to be pampered and I'm just not a spiritual yoga kinda gal. I want to work out in a great environment with smart people and this is it. Lance is encouraging but not a cheerleader, he's motivating but not a drill sargeant. The progression of work is well thought out and Lance keeps it fresh with nice variations to each exercise, always explained and demonstrated. I feel very lucky to have this resource at my fingertips...so great!!!! read more

It's a bit misleading to call these classes: "Large Group Classes". Tom's Kettlebell classes never had more than 5-6 people in them, sometimes just 2-3. To be honest, I was intimidated to hold an 8kg bell over my head, but you progress quickly, by weight and reps. Tom's enthusiasm for the art is motivating and inspiring, makes you wanna push but focus on form. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed :) read more

I was sent to SOL for PT after a work injury. I saw Claire for my sessions. What a very educational experience. Not only was my lower back pain treated, I learned things about my muscle structures that I wish I had known after I had my kids and 2 abdominal surgeries. I saw my regular doctor today and he said, "wow, whatever they did, they certainly helped you move better." read more

This is hands down the best club I've been too. Tom's Kettlebell class is a amazing, Luis TRX is hard but fun, Lance boot camp harder but a blast, and the most life-changing Restoration classes were the hardest and most helpful. I have been on a weightless journey for the past 9 months and when I walked through the doors I was excepted with open arms. The functional restoration class gave me back my posture. I also became a Kettlebell goddess! The only reason I stopped going is because I moved to LA. You are crazy to not give this gym a try. Your body will do amazing things. read more

Last another yelper has lamented, I wish I wasn't moving because Sol was THAT kickass. Group classes range in size. I've experienced classes with 2 people (especially like working out with a personal trainer for an hour) to 12 people. I especially enjoyed Kettlebell Conditioning with Jason which was an INTENSE workout. As someone who prioritizes fitness and workouts everyday, this class kicked my butt! And also gave me ideas for future workouts at the gym. I also like Tom's Kettlebell Zen 510. he definitely challenged me to level up in weights while providing a safe and supportive environment. In terms of differences between Tom's Conditioning class and Jason's, Tom emphasizes number of reps and focuses on form while Jason delivers a timed hard, circuit workout. Sol tries hard to foster a community and has done an excellent job in doing so. Even though I only attended 10 classes there, I felt included and welcome since each instructor tried to remember my name and encouraged getting to know each other. read more

I tried this place out on a Living Social deal with my friend. I am bummed that the schedule just does not work out for me..I am more of a late evening workout gal..so getting up at 6a.m. is a bit harsh because it's still dark. I love the variety of classes and my friend is now a fan. It may be hard to get assistance over the phone but once tended to, the receptionist is a doll. They are very accommodating to my requests and helped me out. Most of the classes are multi-level..I know for Kettle Bell the instructor requires you to take a few intro classes before advancing. Just a tip: It's probably good to familiarize yourself and come early before the classes if you are fairly new. My friend and I came to a class brand spankin' new and it did hold up the class... We didn't feel bad at that time, but now my friend is a regular and she did express that it is a bit discouraging when newbies come in and it cuts the class session time..especially if you are paying close to $20 bucks a session. You wanna get your full workout in right? Makes sense. Sol probably should have more intro classes to prevent this issue..but being a newbie..I really can't complain..but I would not want to affect others in their quest to fitness. Great place..a bit small but super clean..with small parking lot that can welcome a few cars. Friendly staff. Once day light savings kick in and the days are longer I will definitely be back!! read more

Kelly is amazing!!! I have had chronic back/neck pain for years and have seen multiple PTs. Kelly is the first PT to really help me and understand what is going on AND I am finally seeing progress! This is a great center for a whole host of physical training (pt) classes that symbiotically come together to form a great basis for improvements in endurance, physical strength, and agility. I have been coming here for just over a month and have seen great strides in all of the above. The instructors are great-Calle makes for a rigorous TRX class in the morning. It simply tests your agility, increases your endurance, works your core, and gets you energized before work. All her classes have quite a hefty cardio component while keeping to the tenets of TRX-upper,lower, and core. As for Tom-He is quite exacting to form and safety. He gives good guidance on technique and very knowledgeable on the subject matter. His classes are tough and he varies them so you never tire of the routine, but your body will be tired at the end! Once you become a regular in his classes, he understands your capabilities so that he can push you a little harder but not so hard as to hurt yourself in the process. The last class I have taken is Lance's bootcamp class. I have only been able to take one of his classes-It's a great transition between the TRX and Kettlebells. It consists of a pretty thorough warm-up, a modality on stretching, on to lifting, and then..some tough round robins that test endurance, stability, and strength. Not for the feint of heart-your body will be tired. I promise you that. read more

I'm a big fan of SOL. Tom's kettlebell classes are super challenging but he keeps it fun and the energy is positive. Callie's TRX classes are no joke, either... be prepared to sweat! The space is great, and the staff is top notch. read more

This place is great! So far I've taken Tom's kettle bell class and Lance's bootcamp. As a kettle bell beginner I can't recommend Tom's class enough. I had no idea lifting heavy objects could be so much fun. In both classes you end up working muscles you didn't even know you had. This place takes training seriously and I'm glad I discovered them! read more

This place is great! The first class I tried was boot camp with Lance. I had no idea what to expect, but was blown away by how fun a really hard workout could be. I've been to a few more of his classes and I'm still continuously challenged and definitely getting stronger. Being outside for most of the workout is also a big bonus. I've also been impressed with Ara's TRX boot camp class and Tom's Kettlebell class. The group setting really motivates me and the exercises are constantly changing so it never gets boring. I always feel like I get plenty of focused attention no matter what class I'm in or how many other people are there. I highly recommend checking SOL out! read more

I love this place! I've made the Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 pm TRX Boot Camp class with Ara part of my weekly fitness Regime. Just finished a four week (twice a week) semi-private personal training session with Lance and I can say that during this short time I am noticeably stronger throughout my core, legs, glutes and upper body. SOL is a good fit for me because all my classes are outside under the trees in the fresh air - somehow that makes a work out so much better. They also have all the latest training gizmos, kettlebells, TRX, ropes, etc . . . Lance listened to my specific goals and weekly developed a program to fit my needs. read more

Love this place! I'm returning back to sport from chronic plantar fasciitis; have been attending SOL performance classes for over a month now and I have seen very pleasant results! Overall I'm in less pain, feeling much more motivated to workout and am gaining back the strength and endurance I used to have. Thanks Sol! So far I have taken classes with Ara, Tom and Lance. They are all great! They are so encouraging and push you without being over the top. Likewise, I trust the instruction I receive at SOL- I know that each squat, pushup and lunge I do is being evaluated for correct biomechanics to prevent injury. This isn't like your typical class at a large gym- your form will be watched and exercises can be adjusted to fit your current physical needs. You can trust these instructors- they go above and beyond to make sure your experience at class is great and safe. The classes are always fun- never the same routine/workout is repeated which keeps it interesting if you are attending more than one class per week. Pretty much I can't get enough of this place! read more
