Of course, I would not have continued their treatments if I'd had to pay that amount of money for services that didn't make a huge difference. (YouTube videos were what got me better in the end) They can't bill my insurance all this time later because insurance long ago closed the incident that sent me to PT in the first place. But this is their responsibility. I'm curious how many other patients they are pulling this with. Feel free to message me here. They won't win this case, their behavior is indefensible and I have a lawyer on hand, but I worry for more vulnerable people. I'm reporting them to the BBB and the California Dept of Consumer Affairs so there is a record in case they're messing with others in the same way. Before coming to Pro+Kinetix, I waited longer than I should have--probably a few months. Like a lot…read moreof active people, I thought I could just "run through it" and that it would resolve on its own. The main obstacle was honestly a mix of stubbornness and not wanting to slow down my training. I came in with a sports hernia and ongoing hip flexor issues. At my baseline, I was running about 60 miles a week and playing soccer twice weekly. By the time I sought help, I was down to ~20 miles a week and had completely stopped playing soccer. It was frustrating and honestly a bit concerning given how central activity is to my routine. Before PT, I tried the usual things--rest, stretching, some generic strengthening exercises, and modifying my running--but nothing really addressed the root problem. I'd improve slightly and then regress again. I chose Pro+Kinetix because of their reputation for working with athletes and their focus on performance-based rehab rather than just symptom management. I wanted someone who understood not just how to get me out of pain, but how to get me back to a high level of activity. Working with Dr. Jose Gonzalez Mejia was a game changer. What stood out was the specificity--everything was tailored: targeted strength work, movement pattern corrections, and a very intentional, progressive return-to-load plan. This wasn't a cookie-cutter program. He also did a great job explaining the why behind each exercise, which made it easier to stay consistent and confident in the process. As a patient, the experience was extremely professional and focused. Sessions were efficient, hands-on, and goal-oriented. It felt like a true partnership in getting back to performance, not just passive treatment. The impact has been huge. I'm now back up to ~50 miles per week and have started playing soccer again--something that felt pretty far off when I first came in. More importantly, I feel stronger and more resilient than before the injury, with a much better understanding of how to manage load and prevent recurrence.

I can't recommend Pro+Kinetix Physical Therapy, and specifically Dr. Lorraine, enough. After a hip…read moreinjury, I worked with Dr. Lorraine over 10-15 sessions and saw dramatic improvements in my strength and mobility, ultimately returning to all of my pre-injury athletic hobbies without pain. What sets Pro+Kinetix apart: you get a full hour with your therapist (not the rushed 30-minute sessions I've experienced elsewhere), and you always work with the same person. That consistency made a world of difference. Dr. Lorraine not only built a structured, effective recovery plan, but she genuinely listened to my concerns and gave me the confidence that I'd get back to my normal, and I did. She also sent me home with a toolkit for both ongoing hip strength/mobility maintenance and to manage any future flareups, should they occur. My insurance didn't cover the cost, but I can say without hesitation that it was worth every penny.

Then I found Valerie Loo, and wow--she's incredible! Instead of just treating the pain, she finds what's out of alignment and teaches me how to correct it using Counter-shapes tailored to my body's unique movement patterns (quirks really). I don't think I've ever worked with a PT who truly understands how everything is connected. One time, my shoulder was hurting, and she had me do a foot exercise--not touching my shoulder at all-- the pain went away. So wild! What she teaches is like self-massage that actually gets to the knot--not just by pressing on it, but by using movements to retrain my body. Now, the pain stays away for days! And when it sneaks back in, I know exactly what to do to reset and feel good again! Valerie doesn't just "hand me the fish" so to speak--she teaches me how to fish, so I can take care of my body (at home) instead of relying on constant treatments. So grateful for this woman and her work. If you've noticed limits in your movement or want to move better while improving your posture and alignment, this is for you. She calls her method "prehab" (preventative rehab)-- it's a game-changer!

I feel a lot of PTs focus on exercises and current or unresolved injuries. I questioned what I would do if the PT sessions no longer became effective. For example, I am given exercises for a particular injury but what if that injury has improved but you need something preventative. Something that most of the time gradually "adds to your back account". I have only worked one on one with Valerie but the sessions work almost instantaneously, and I feel like the issue I came in with gets resolved. My work with her has been incredibly effective. She works on alignment, form, etc. She is a PT who thinks about what you do after you've seen a PT. She's like a post-injury PT. She also looks at the whole you. She always has additional resources if you want them. She explains and educates you on what's going on with your body, goals and plans. She wants you to take charge of your own body. I expect I will get a lot out of her classes as well. Valerie you are awesome. I'm so glad you are part of my treatment team. Thank you.

Lastly, she went through her pricing and packages. I appreciated that she didn't pressure me at all to pay then and there for a package. I have multiple systemic chronic injuries, and the approach here over focused on isolated issues rather than treating the body as an interconnected system. First off: I was a physical therapy aide for years and I was not qualified to treat patients without a physical therapist present or if they were not within close ear shot. I have worked in and have been treated by many clinics and what they are doing in that place is illegal, and they know it. I recently had a revision hip surgery and since this place was close to my home, I booked an evaluation for 7 days post-op. When I called a week or so before my evaluation, I spoke to the front desk staff to book subsequent appointments as my protocol called for 1-2 times per week. The woman I spoke to told me that my following appointments would be with an aide. I kept asking if I would see the physical therapist before the aide and she kept saying, yes, but only the first appointment, then just with the aide. I honestly thought it was a language barrier issue, and I know how physical therapy is supposed to work, so I just made the appointments. On the day I showed up for my evaluation, the clinic was packed. At least a dozen patients at 7:30am (they opened at 7am), and it seemed very chaotic. Most of the tables had patients on them and they were clearly unsupervised. I just assumed that they had several PTs (or Physical Therapy Assistants; which are very different than aides) on staff, which was NOT the case, as I've come to find out. Twenty minutes into my appointment time, I was taken to a table to wait for the PT. Simon came out of his back office and spent at maximum 1-2 minutes with me. He never checked my incisions, did no physical evaluation of any kind, and after a few unsavory comments, he went back to his office (never saw him again). The aide then attempted to help me get on the bike, but she had no idea what she was doing and I wound up hoisting myself up on the bike, which put me at risk for a fall (fortunately, I did not). She left me there unattended and I had to get someone's attention to get me off after just sitting there for at least 5 minutes after the timer went off. When I got back to the table, the same girl told me she was going to go in back to check out my protocol. She returned and said that she was now going to put me through some exercises. This is when I truly knew that something was REALLY wrong with this place. I asked if she was an aide, assistant, or PT, and she answered she was an aide. I asked her if Simon was going to continue with the evaluation and she said no, and that she was going to do it. She said that this was how they do it and I could feel that even she knew that this was wrong. That's when I told her that this was not okay and I discontinued my session and left. Shortly after I arrived back home, I called them and canceled my appointments. The physical therapists on their website have not worked for them since 2021. Simon has lied on my medical record since the visit and has made a false claim with my insurance company. Luckily, I was able to find another clinic that could see me on short notice and I know that I am getting the real care that I need after surgery.
