I didnt ask for anything specific then but she was arrogant and obnoxious know it all. OK, Being that I didnt say specificaly waht I wanted I was happy and so was my friend that went with her. I didnt go back to her because her atidtude was always "I know what you want" before you even half way your sentence and then shes all like "of course you like it" because shes hair god. I found out she opened her new shop by my house which I was already going to an amazing hair salon in bensonhurst called "Delaqua" pricey but their craft is totally worth it. I just hated the commute so decided to give Lora a shot again. Background info I have my cosmetology license and do hair also, its just nice to be pampered from time to time. I colored my hair as a base color mahogany, and went to her for highlights and just a root touchup. I show her a pictyure because her accent is so strong its just impossible to understand her. And she tells me I know what you want" well ok then. Her shop is small and super cluttered, no where to comfortably sit. Her assistant speaks no english and i'm sure it hurt her to smile. I waited about 20 mins to get seated at her chair because she was on thephone, talking to a vendor and doing someone else's hair... I finally get seated I tell her again how I want it she obviously says she did my base color because its amazing... i correct her and say I did it myself actually. So she tells me to pick a color from her Magma color swatches so I show her the picture and again say 'I want these highlights those arent the color I want dont you have more tones?' and she said ' I don't use bleach'.. (clearly been using the same colors all these years maybe she should consider bleach or atleast expanding her hair products...) So we pick a color and I say I guess were going to have to go for a natural blended look, And she says I know what to do. She takes me to the shampoo bowl and gives me a shampoo cap... which is just washing your hair with shampoo and bleach she tried to say its a special lightneing way that wont damage the hair, again I remind her I know what it is.. I do hair. but this isnt my first choice ever for anyone. So again I just wanted my hair to be done and not think about it just let me relax so as I was waiting for this to be washed off which i thought was gonna be like 2 mins because again this is bleach on your whole head and scalp, a Russian woman obnoxiously comes in speaking loud and laughing over my head the place is a closet why would she be yelling ?! so im annoyed because I'm sick of being in the bowl and she yelling and i'm not getting exactly what I wanted. 30 mins went by i get washed by her troll face assistant, my hair has just been bleached for 30 mins you have to be gentle so it wont break,,, what does she do? she treats my hair as if its a brillo pad. I have thick straight silky hair. so i tell her be gentle please your 1. hurting me and 2. my hair has just been bleach what are you doing?? I go back on the chair and she decides its not light enough so again I go to the shampoo cap and I say your going to damage my hair. and now she says no no its gentler now and a russian man in his thick accent tells my bf that was patientlty waiting "very indecisive girl" and my bf says no she came in with a picture" and im in the bowl for 10 mins more now i feel my hair so dry and i ask for a conditioning treatment and says yes we will. (never did) finally 1.5 hours later, we get to the highlights in like a red color and lets me wait. so now my hair is patchy: the roots are yellow with my natural dark brown spots, the ends are orange and she says "after this i blowdry you. And I look at her like shes joking and I say what about my roots and the yellow? and she says no its blended only now its because its wet.... annoyed she puts a Violet color... how did she get violet from the mahagony color I came in with that I wanted to stay that color just add highlights and retouch the roots? finally its washed off so I get it blow dried and now my hair is engine red and no highlights to be found and im about to burst into tears because 4 hours later I look like a BAD Rihanna job- Im Olive skin tone I didn't go there to get a Hood rat makeover. she hands me over a 250. bill, I say I didnt ask for all this I just wanted my highlights why am I getting charged over 200?!?! no haircut just damage! I went home looked at my hair and scoped it. The back was patchy and brassy orange, hot roots, the highlights blended with the base color, my hair felt like hay. A month later I ahd to cut my waist long hair to shoulder length because how damaged it is, my scalp gets dry and itchy thanks to her "gentle special process of lightening" she doesnt listen to you and needs to update her products and knowledge. I went here a few years ago and I still have trouble with my hair. I have very fine hair, so when she used hot scissors on me the first time I didn't know any better. It looked fine at first but when my hair started growing it would just stick out in all directions, so I lost the ability to have super long hair. The second time I went to her I asked her not to use them, but she did it anyway. Her arrogance doesn't permit her to give her clients the haircut/style they want. My hair was further damaged by the hot scissors. It took me 3 years to grow out my hair to a semi decent length. I would always have to cut it because my hair was flat at the top and horizontal on the bottom. Definitely avoid this place!! read more

It's really odd reading all the bad reviews because I've been going to this salon for years and never had such severe problems. I initially tried this place because it advertised a punk style. I keep coming back because even though Loren has her flaws, she always manages to give me the look I desire. I remember in the beginning she'd do the "I know what you want," but I had a photo of the style I wanted so she didn't deviate by much. Over time she's learned what I actually want, and nowadays she's better about following the photo and doing whatever additional adjustments I ask for. The thing I like most about her haircuts is how she uses her layering scissors. My straight hair is very thick, thick enough that whenever I grow it out with my bangs it looks like I'm wearing a wig. So when I ask for pixie cuts, I don't want to look like I have a bowl on my head. Fortunately, Loren manages to remove a lot of the bulk, giving my hair a looser, more natural feel. She calls it "I make it choppy," and I think that's fitting for the way she chops into the thick mass of hair, giving me a nice layered look without it appearing overly deliberate. Additionally, when my short hair begins to grow out, it continues looking good. So, yeah, I really like this place. Though I only come here once or twice a year since I wait for my hair to grow back to my shoulders before scheduling another haircut. read more

I'd give 0 stars if I could, horrible cheap service, the lady is a scammer, she advertises hot scissors and then uses regular scissors. Extremely dirty tiny place, rude unprofessional, horrible looking haircuts, a blind teen apprentice can do a better job!!! Stay away from this s**y tiny place. read more

I am a customer of Sol Loren about three years. First I heard about Lora from my manicurist, she told me that there is a new place on the block and lady who own it makes a magic - she does hair cut by two hands. I am very curious and decided to try a new style and since than I am a customer of Lora and don't plan to change the hairstylist. She really does hair cuts by two hands, she learned this technique in some oriental country - Korea or Taiwan. Lora is open for new technique, styles, colors. You should see her scissors, I never see anything like that and I bet you too. For coloring she use Schwartzkoff mostly, and hair after this product always soft and not dry. I read the previous review and believe it was written by unsuccessful competitor. Very sad that people use yelp to spit out jealousy. Lora is very good master. Im going to Sol Loren since it was open. I never been disappointed. Ms. Lora very ,very professional and she has good taste. She can cut your hair with both hands on the same time. She finished a lot of different hair courses Malaziya, Ukraine, USA and Germany. She use organic haircolors.
