I started coming to the Center originally due to health concerns. My doctor told me I needed to…read morestart eating healthy and getting more exercise. He suggested I check out the Center which I knew as the old YMCA in downtown Waco. I went to check it out and the hook was set. That was just over five years ago. I have done the Aqua aerobics and then found that I loved the Silver Sneakers program offered three times a week in the morning and in the afternoon. I soon became one of the regulars that attends not only for the health benefits but because I love the people and our Silver Sneakers Cardio aerobics instructor. The staff at the Center are wholesome and caring compassionate people. Especially Rebecca, the interim facility Director. She goes above and beyond to assist and help you out with concerns seeing you are well taken care of when you take in the pool, weight room or holding an activity. There are so many activities anyone can be a part of and I can't say enough about how I feel a part of wanting to be a part of the various health programs anyone can do. I even like the Tai Chi which helps me in my breathing and stability. I haven't tried the YOGA yet, but might one day. If your into Pickle Ball or Hand Ball, they have two courts for that. They offer memberships of every kind and the "Price Is Right" being covered by insurance and there are some membership levels. There is so much more to the Center, but I have to close saying I love the in door walking track and second floor workout area. They offer it all without breaking the bank... You gotta try it!

My 3-year-old David loved going to the Saturday free play times, and I personally enjoyed his enthusiasm for the gym as a former cheerleader myself. I know that tumbling, gymnastics, and cheer are sports that teach foundational and fundamentals of movement that are applicable across so many other sports, and it is all very important to balance, coordination, and confidence in children to learn these types of movements. My child was very attached to my wife who is an amazing stay-at-home mom, and we feared putting him in a class where we thought he would not do well being apart from mom, yet we knew it was best for him. That was when we went to a Saturday where Madison Higdon entered my family's life, and what a blessing she has been. My son was instantly drawn to Madison as she came over to show him some trampoline movements, and then she stopped to take the time to speak with my wife and I. We both expressed our trepidation with putting him into a class, however Madison was confident that she could make it a place that David would love. Madison was professional and provided answers to every question we had as parents. Madison then got us connected with all the information to get David enrolled, and after we left, we signed him up that day. We were so impressed with Madison that we did not use the free class, but instead bought fully into her confidence as a couch for the toddler class that we booked David for TWO classes a week. We made sure that Madison was the coach for the class, and from that moment on my son was hooked! Madison engaged with our son, taught him the foundations of movement, and made it fun. Our son took to coach Madison immediately and began to learn the days of the week just so he knew when Tuesday and Thursday were coming since those were his days with Madison at the gym. The treasure of finding a young adult who is so fantastic with the most precious human in our life is unquantifiable, and we were so impressed with how Madison presented much older than her actual age. The value of this class Madison provided was manifestly present in my child's physical evaluation when entering school. The school he attends is a private school that evaluates children for physical movement since there is a trend in child development where children are lacking basic physical movements from being on devices more than ever instead of outside playing. David shined, and the school asked what we had specifically done to prepare David. The thanks is largely in part to Madison at Texas Dynasty Cheer for teaching David how to jump with two feet and land, tumble, coordination of stepping, and the confidence to try new physical challenges. Madison has become a cherished member of our family, and my son still speaks of Madison weekly. Every day we came to Texas Dynasty, David was greeted by name and the staff looked forward to seeing David which of course makes a child feel special and cared for. David and Madison bonded in a way that would make any parent so thankful to experience, and a value can't be placed on a compassionate, caring, skilled, and professional young adult such as Madison. This is a young adult who is contributing to society in an age group that seldom shines as bright as Madison does. Since this experience, my wife and I have pointed countless people to Texas Dynasty and we can say confidently that is only due to Madison. The family of coaches are all great, but for us Madison was the coach my son, wife, and I adored and grew to trust. Bottom line: Get involved at Texas Dynasty and experience a family who loves, values, and leads your child to skills that will last a lifetime! One of the things I love most is the opportunity for kids to try new sports and explore different programs, all while working around a schedule that makes it possible to do more than one thing they love. People often joke that their kids practically live at the gym, but the truth is they want to be there. They show up during their free time because they're excited to learn, improve, and level up. And the people? Calling them friends would be a disservice. They become family. It's a community without the cliques and drama, a group of people who genuinely show up for each other, both inside and outside the gym. If you're looking for a place that helps your child grow as an athlete, as a person, and in their faith, I would choose DA every single time.

I have been a member of WRS since 2006 and would not think of going anywhere else. I love the idea…read moreof a smaller gym opposed to the chain gyms out there. The equipment is well maintained, and they are opting for a newer, more relaxing look and feel. WRS not only hosts several group classes, but they also have other businesses within the building which are very beneficial health-wise. The trainers are friendly and excellent as well as the staff who are very focused on you as a member.

Try to get one on one when possible. I was there for 8 months and one of the owners, that I'd been talking to for the last 8 months (every month), about losing sign in privileges during the month and never fixed it, didn't even ask why I was leaving. The reason was because he wasn't fixing the problem. Didn't care? Didn't know what he was doing? Anyway, wasn't for me.

The Bledsoe Miller Park has an overdue tribute statue of Doris Miller-but the city has erased Moore High School, Jefferson Moore High School, the late Indian Springs Middle School-leaving no where for the black community to access, heritage.., and the be active, and be a part integral to Waco pride. The Bledsoe Miller park located on Bridge Street-Elm/Washington Avenue was where black families had Easter Egg Hunts, played baseball and softball. It was where my dad pushed me high in the swing where I tried to touch the trees that grew upward seemingly enabling me to touch the sky. There are fewer park benches-no pits to roast hotdogs, grill burgers, or heat s'mores 'till the marshmallows almost melted away and burned ! .., There are the no public outdoor swimming pools on the East Side of the mighty Brazos-part of the Red River and the -Colorado River. Our Brazos River has 7 tributaries.. home of the historic Chisholm Trail, the route used in the post-Civil War era to drive cattle overland from ranches in southern Texas, across the Red River into Indian Territory, and ending at Kansas rail stops. A little further south was the great Cotton Palace that was erased also. The Cotton Palace was an exhibition ground in the area of Clay Avenue, Dutton Avenue and South Sixteenth Street in Waco, Texas, from 1895 to 1930. Waco was central to amazing history with Waco Connally Airforce Base has only remnants that still exist today. Along with the Waco Veteran's Hospital that has diminished where as the Olin E. Teague Veteran's Medical Center located in Temple,Texas; 40-45 miles south of WACO has grown and is basically replaced the Waco VA as an essential government based medical facility. Walker's Auditorium where WACO, Texas (a report done by FOX 44 NEWS) - When looking back at East Waco there are few things more iconic than Walker's Auditorium. However, the venue has been forgotten - there is not one picture of the famed building that seems to exist. On a street in East Waco stands the daughter of a trailblazer. Charlotte Floyd-Love, the only child of Herbert Walker - the legendary Black -Waco businessman who opened up the iconic Walker's Auditorium in 1945. Even though there are no pictures of it, remnants of the famed building is like time has passed on and remains only in the mind's eye of their grandchildren born in the late 1940's and 50's.. Behind the old bricks echoed the music of legends. "Ike and Tina" and "Little Stevie" rocked East Waco with their immense talent, but Charlotte shares there were so many more. *My mother, who worked for Mr. Charlie DeVall at the best restaurant in Waco-the Chicken Shack favored Walker's Auditorium, was fortunate to go there and swoon over her favorite, the incomparable Billy Eckstein. WE NEED MORE WALKING PATHS LIKE THE MCC OUTDOOR WALKING TRACK- and the nice and adequate Baylor University Outdoor track named for the recently passed great Track Coach -Coach Clyde Heart whom I met and engaged with twice in the last year. He Coached my classmates Michael Beck, and Larry M. Davis-as well as several Gold Medalist Olympians, including Dallas,Texas native Michael Johnson, along with Jeremy Wariner, and Darold Williamson. We need a weatherized-cushioned walking path for all Wacoans: Extending from the Highway 77L and MLK Jr. Boulevard along to pass magnificent Baylor's McLane Stadium to extend pass Franklin Avenue near Indian Spring Park to down along the Brazos River Walk winding down past the Herring Bridge to Brazos Park East!! Make us all a safe, pertinent, durable walking path/ track to walk, build health, hope, and dream for the future, execute the present, and reminisce and improve upon the past. Why Not ? Because we surely do need it.., ...Why, because there is no insulated mapped out walking trail for us like the awesome McLennan Community College outdoor walking track located at 1400 College Drive 76708. Indian Spring Park seems to be only a place for a few people to picnic.
