The lineage & knowledge possessed at this organization is as good as there is in the country. Owner & Chief Instructor, Chuck Johnson, has as much knowledge about karate as anyone in Waco. His willingness to work with all students & his patience to help mentor younger students is top notch. There are smaller classes so more personalized training can occur. Belts are not given away at this school. If the material is not known & the students are proving that they are not practicing, they will not pass the test. However, if the student is showing they are giving effort, they will be happy with their progression. We participate in kata & kumite competitions with the AAU & other organizations so there is opportunity to compete. I originally put my son in karate because he was…read morebeing bullied by other kids at school and the school didn't think it was enough of "a concern". He was so scared of the punishment from the school if he tried to defend himself. Now he is building confidence no longer being bullied (we did leave that school district) and learning for himself right from wrong regardless of the fear of repercussions. We love the disciple and caring black belt instructors that lead this after school program.

I can't speak to progam or most of the instructors, but I will say that the owner of this location…read morehas been extremely rude, even to go as far as to even admit it was intentional to be rude and to call me incompetent because I disagree with how he spoke to me. It was uncalled for. Frustrated or not, for him to be rude to me was unprofessional. I am not his student and I was not unkind or disrespectful toward him. I was picking up my children from school and because of the program my daughter is in, she is dismissed in the same area the after school program is dismissed to but 5 to 10 minutes prior to the end of the day. Because I have a 2 year old as well, its easier to park at the curb to have less worry of having to chase a 2 and 3 year old than the back of a parking lot. I'd have moved sooner however I asked that they dismiss my 5 year old to me as well so waited an extra couple minutes which is apparently too much of an inconvenience despite the children Not having been dismissed to them yet. If this is how I am treated visibly taking care of 3 children, I will certainly not be sending my children to him to see how he treats them.
