food was o.k., service was terrible. Italian really hasnt worked for me in Wheaton. The problem was not the server, it was the Mngr./Owner.

Rosaria & Tiffany compliments to you and your restaurant it is very nice and clean modern and chic. Rosaria you are a magnificent host and a hard worker. The food is very delicious. The drinks and coffee very refreshing. I came to your restaurant and left very happy with the service and the delicious home cooking it made me feel like I had gone to Italy right at wheaton. I will definitely be bringing my family here to for dinner. Yummy. The pasta was done al dente. The fry calamary was tender and juicy. The brushchetta was crusty and tasty. The chicken was so delicious and the beef melted in your mouth. Compliments to Fonzy the food was appetizing . I love the fact there is plenty of parking and inside the restaurant has elevators. It is handicapped accesible. Stop by and taste good home Italian food read more

Went for date night with the wife First time Made reservations, which I highly recommend, and then had a lovely table on the rooftop next to the window with a cute view of the roofs of downtown Wheaton, a nice romantic setting. It was lively and one could feel a comfortable soft breeze flowing through the seating area which is covered with high wooden trellis. The food was amazing, best I have had in a long time. So we like to cook, and are very critical when we go out to eat. For and appetizer we had the Misto Griglia, an assortment of grilled Lobster, squid and Calamari, bedded on Arugula with a light balsamic dressing. It was absolutely a delicious. For the main course I had the Amatriciana Nero Pasta, squid infused black/purple spaghetti with pieces of lobster on it. It an absolute delicious delight to one's taste buds, which I took my time to savor and enjoy the meal every fork at a time. We had a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio which was a delight with the meal. My wife had a large Caesar Salad with grilled shrimp. The service was friendly, attentive and very professional in a warming way. Money well spent and we will definitely be back to try other dishes. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this restaurant earlier! We came here for their NYE dinner with a prix fixe menu. I had been looking at this restaurant for a while prior to going and loved the look of the outside dining on the roof. While we did not dine outside, we were able to sit by the window which offered a great view of Wheaton. However, I ended up being highly disappointed with this restaurant. We made our reservation for relatively late since it was NYE and we were planning on staying up til midnight. That was mistake #1. Since we were in the last crowd everything was picked over. Out of 4 options for an appetizer they had three which wasn't too bad. It was a shame the best option was picked over, but that was to be expected... it happens. I got the Gamberi Francese which was egg battered shrimp in lemon butter sauce. It ended up being pretty good. For our entrees, there were only 2/4 options available and both contained shellfish (luckily we weren't allergic) and one was very spicy (luckily we were early enough to get TWO options). I ended up getting the crab encrusted grouper which was ok, but not worth the prices. The part that irritated us the most was dessert. EVERYTHING was picked over for dessert so they gave us pudding in a champagne glass. It wasn't decadent rich pudding, but instant pudding with cool whip. Did we get a discount for our food?.. no. We paid what everyone else paid which was $79 a person. It would have been better spending that money on one of those bars with a champagne toast and a buffet. I know this wasn't our waiter's fault. He was really good and very apologetic. I feel he genuinely cared about our experience. The ok food with the good service earned them two stars. Even though I didn't try the full menu, I won't be back since moving out of the area. I had such high hopes and was very disappointed. read more

Omg my first dining experience since this whole catastrophe. All the servers were so friendly and were on top of it. As soon as my drink was done another server that wasn't our original asked if I want another one and immediately brought it. The food was delicious and the outdoor dining on Hale street was really nice. Wheaton should consider making this a permanent feature. Everyone wore masks and were so polite and courteous. Great for all, food and atmosphere and service . It's a great location, just loud at times

I was here on a Saturday night wit my boyfriend celebrating my birthday. We arrived around 7 and did not have a reservation since we wanted to sit outside and that seating is first come first serve. We were told 45 min to an hour. No problem, there was plenty of seats at the bar. At the bar I ordered a Pomegranate Swirl and my boyfriend got a Blood O'Man, boy oh boy, those drinks were OUTSTANDING! My drink was refreshing, sweet, and had the right amount of alcohol. After 2 rounds of yummy and delicious cocktails we were told our table was ready. We go upstairs and at the very top they have a gorgeous rooftop. I was immediately happy and was so glad that we waited to be seated outside. I posted a pic of the rooftop and check it out, it is worth the wait to be able to sit outside on a nice day. So after being seated we get water and bread to munch on. We had a great server, a dark haired Italian girl, can't remember her name but I blame it on the yummy, delicious cocktails. Our server was professional, fun, friendly, she gets an A+. I ordered the Misto Pesce, it was spaghetti with lobster, shrimp, scallops and cherry tomatoes, and my boyfriend had the slow roasted rib eye. Both dishes were terrific, full of flavor, fresh, the amount was perfect. I have nothing but great things to say about this establishment. I was happy with the ambiance, decor, the staff, the food, everything was on point. When the server found out I was celebrating my bday she brought over shots for me and my boyfriend and she took one with us as well. I could have not asked for a better birthday dinner. Thank you Il Sogno for making it a great night. We will be back for sure! read more

One of the better kept new secrets of Wheaton, Il Sogno was such a delightful surprise to discover when looking for something new and different to eat. Residing in the second floor of the strip on Hale street, Il sogno provides delicious Italian food and outrageously reasonable prices. (Seriously! $12 for a generous helping is typically what you'll find here). Not many places have veal on their menus, but Il Sogno has an entire section of it, and every dish is consistently awesome. Some nights they do have loud music, but on a typical night the ambiance almost gives you a little taste of Italy here in Wheaton. The staff is knowledgeable and inviting, and the service is present but not overbearing. Hopefully more people will discover this little slice of Italy hidden right in the downtown Wheaton area. read more

Whether you choose take out, dining room, patio (thank you Village of Wheaton) and best ever roof top solarium, the ambiance of Sogno is only topped by Mama Nancy's amazing dishes. Italian and Italian-inspired, every dish is a Amore. How to pick? Wines are top selections, craft cocktails are outstanding, apps are mini delights, sauces are out of this world, main dishes are delicious, and the service is friendly, consistent and top notch. Eating at Sogno is a wonderful experience, even when bringing food home to enjoy. Always ask about the specials. Rosa and Nancy never disappoint. read more

Il Sogno is a beautiful restaurant that seems to suffer from a consistency issue. They certainly have the ability and surroundings for an excellent dining experience, but are unable to successfully replicate said experience. The decor is muted and classic. Lots of dark colors and white table cloths. Conventional, sleek, and versatile. They also have a wonderful rooftop dining area which is perhaps the flagship feature of the establishment. It may be one of my favorite places to go on a summer night for a date or dinner with friends. The food is really what warrants the three star rating, where a pretty bad consistency problem resides. The Meatballs with Polenta and the Tortellini Proscuito are two stand outs that are very good and worth the price tag. They're fresh, and all the ingredients work well together. Yet others, like the Salmon Vesuvio and the Veal Parm are very hit or miss. Both of which usually suffer from over/under seasoning, the misuse of Garlic, or just the dish being poorly cooked. It's a shame that Sogno can't get all of the dishes up to the level of quality of the first two dishes I've mentioned, because then they'd be a hit! You may try Sogno and find that they do a good job with your specific Italian favorites. Alternatively, you may leave with a very sour taste in your mouth. Your mileage will vary here. I plan on going back soon to see if they've been able to get a better handle on things. read more

My wife and I came on a Friday night around 6:30PM - was not busy at all. The service was great, food was terrible. 1) Calamari was decent 2) Wife had the Chicken Parmesan, sauce was ketchup and poor quality chicken (very fatty) 3) I had the chicken vesuvio, the entire plate was drowned in olive oil (seriously like 1/4 inch dripping), no flavor, and again very poor quality chicken. Being pretty simple Italian dishes, you would imagine it would be difficult to screw them up. Way wrong with that thought. In summary, do not waste your time. Go for drinks and possibly an appetizer, but skip the dinner. There are plenty of better restaurants in the Wheaton / Glen Ellyn area to spend your money at. read more

Really nice Italian family restaurant. We've been there a few times and it never disappoints. They just opened up the rooftop deck and it's smallish so if it's peak time on a nice day it might be full. I got a salmon dish that was incredible. Cooked perfectly, with a nice sauce. 5 stars! read more

This is one of our favorite spots in Wheaton! I was shocked to read a bad review by a woman that had nothing to say about the service or food but slammed them for a fight she got Into outside on the street. How could this possibly be the fault of this wonderful establishment? They have never been xenophobic in my years of observing the staff and owners! In fact that's crazy. Just because another patron was acting out - again how is that their fault? And shame on Kathy for her choice of language out on that sidewalk! Wow. Kathy, hope NOT to see you next Tuesday!!! Clean up your act. read more

My Fiance' planned a surprise party at Il Sogno. The rooftop was the perfect setting for our private party! They had a bartender just for us and the wait staff was awesome and attentive to everyone's needs. She was friendly and made sure we were always taken care of. They had a table with amazing appetizers. Just when I thought that couldn't be topped, the awesome main courses came out and blew everyone away. Our friends are still raving about the food and service. Great Place Great Food Great People! So glad that he chose to have my party at Il Sogno!!! read more

First timers. Awesome. Paloma was sweet and very knowledgeable of the menu. We sat on the rooftop. The food was outstanding, Mama Nancy is quite the chef of this family owned gem. Best Arancini I've had. We have a variety of pasta dishes that were delish and generous portions. Def going back. read more

The rooftop is absolutely gorgeous. Apparently on Tuesday you get 20% off your meal in the dining room though. How odd. The craft beer selection is a bit small, with a few IPAs, a radler, and some Belgians. I wish they had more beers on tap, but oh well. They have quite a few wines, though perhaps their bartenders need a little bit more time to learn the products and make recommendations as he faltered when another patron asked. The dining staff was very professional, attentive and courteous. The gnocchi is made in house and very good, though the portion size is a bit small. I ordered their special which was a seafood risotto. Presentation is nice. It has mussels, clams, and shrimp over a bed of risotto with a light sauce. Most of the clams had fallen out of their shells, the mussels were falling apart, and the shrimp was just slightly overcooked. Flavor was good, but I think the seafood may have been just a little past prime. All in all, not bad, but not great. The price was a shocker too. I probably would have gone straight for one of the lobster dishes had I known the risotto was $28. I would come back, I might even bring a date. But I would probably order something else. read more

This place is amazing the food is amazing the service is amazing and the servers know every small detail about the food and wine menu. I have never been so impressed by the restaurant. Food seemed to be very expensive until I took my first bite and knew right away it worth every dollar. The people who gave less then 4 stars are the type of people that will always find something to complain about or think they are some type of celebrity food critic. I've been here half a dozen times and have had a flawless experience every time. 10/10 recommend. read more

The customer service in this restaurant is absolutely the best. I came here to get take out for some very picky eaters and Rose and Liz totally took care of everything. No garlic or pepper, done. Customizing dishes for a vegetarian. Boom. Then Rose even tried to help me make an appointment for a skin treatment with a local place that is always booked. My parents over the food here and find it a bit harder to get out of the house. How blessed are we here in Wheaton to have this family owned establishment? And the best food around. Thank you thank you. read more

Italian food at it's very best! We did carry out. We ordered a few items from the Fall menu. We had the Pumpkin Ravioli, Meatballs and Polenta, Tortellini Proscuitto, and Pacchieri Vodka. Everything was really good. The meatballs were excellent; not too salty and a lot of flavor. The tortellini were just right and the cream sauce was perfect. The pumpkin ravioli were a bit on the set/savory side and the Pacchieri vodka had just the right amount of tomato in the tomato cream sauce. Sometimes some restaurants add too much tomato to a vodka cream sauce, but the folks at Il Sogno know how to do right! Everything was packed very well and the meal was still hot when we got home some 25 minutes later. Awesome place! read more

We ordered curbside last night and everything was amazing. We had several dishes to share: PORK SHANK OSSOBUCO 16-18oz Shank, Celery, Carrots, Onion, Sweet Potato, Au jus, Parmesan Risotto MEATBALLS & MP Mascarpone Polenta, Raisins, Four cheese, Garlic, Tomato sauce TORTELLINI PROSCIUTTO Beef Filled Pasta, Mushrooms, Peas, Onions, Prosciutto, White Cream Sauce The pork shank melted like butter in your mouth! Some of the best Italian I've ever had! I came here with my girlfriend. It was still warm outside, with a bit of a breeze, but still nice enough for their rooftop dining. Service was friendly and prompt. Menu is quite simple. Misto Griglia and Arancini appetizers were awesome. Chicken Parm you taste so good (this is what I got). Tortellini Prosciutto was good as well (I had a large portion of my GF's). Dessert Cannoli and Chocolate Nutella... out of this world. Probably my new favorite downtown Wheaton spot. Can't wait to return. read more

We have now dined at two restaurants under the Hale Street tent. Frankly I do not like it, with ill fitting chairs, wobbly tables, and the challenges of getter hot food out to the tables. Covid sucks. BUT, we will continue to go and give the owners and workers the benefit of the doubt. They are trying. I sure hope they are being clean. The chicken cisuvio was good. Had to rapidly eat as it arrived hot but despite 85 degrees during the day, in the shade of the tent and with sun going down it was quite chilly. The servers were prompt and attentive. We will visit again but if the hot dog cart could serve beer, I would sit in the sun and have a dig and a brewski. read more

2.5 and I will explain. Called to make a reservation ~ no problem. " Oh, we don't take reservations for the roof deck. First come, first served. " Pretty blanket statement . . . not entirely true. 100 Hale Street is a door. The restaurant is on the second floor, so be on the lookout for the door. I was dropped off while my husband went searching for parking. It was a bit like downtown Naperville on a Saturday evening, parking was not readily available. I check in at the hostess stand. " It is our policy to not seat until the entire party is here " Again, not quite true. So, I went back downstairs and caught my husband on his second drive around trying to find a place to park. Finally find a spot, it is a lovely evening, so we don't mind the walk. We manage to get a table on the roof deck. We ask if we can have a bigger table, sorry, those are for a party of 4. No problem. We sit down and take a look around. 2 tables over, at a table for 4, sit 2 people, with menus at all 4 places. So, why can they be seated to wait???? Then I notice the huge crack down the side of my water glass. It has to get better, right? Then, I notice behind us, they are starting to put tables together. A couple leaves, they move the table over. It ends up being set for 9 people. Now, are they THAT good that they can predict that on this particular Saturday evening a group of 9 people will walk in when there are not other people waiting for a table up here? First come, first served ~ remember? Not typical Italian. Portions are small, no one was taking home any leftovers. We had the pasta special. Sauce had a most unusual flavor, I didn't finish it all. There is the person who is your server, but there were at least 4 other people who served us drinks, our salads, and brought us our entrees, you did not have a moment to rest between courses. During our salad course, the other 2 people for that table of 4 arrived so they obviously had not driven together and did not have to wait to be seated. We had the lemon sorbet for dessert, it was very refreshing, but left you wanting for more. I was definitely not full when we were finished. The bill arrives and when our server, who was excellent (Rose was her name), brings over the receipt to sign, in comes a party of 9. SURPRISE, how lucky are they that there just happens to be a table for 9 all set and no one waiting to be seated. I wish I could explain that to all the people who were waiting to be seated on the roof, or better yet, why don't you explain how you pick and choose which customers will have policy cited and which will not? read more

The food mediocre at best along with the service. The diner should not have to go to the bar to get a second drink because the server was nowhere to be found. It was as bad enough that the drinks were very small, but when was the last time you went to an Italian restaurant and they charged you three dollars for olive oil for your bread. There a so many other good Italian restaurants in the western suburbs do yourself a favor and patronize them. You will have a much better experience. read more

We were not impressed with this restaurant. We came in for Mother's Day and the place wasn't busy - not a good sign. The menu is very limited, not much to choose from and nearly every dish had some kind of meat which I am not a fan of. The wine by the glass selection was also small and very pricey. Service was lackluster and slow. My husband's beer glass was taken away before he was done with it, which he didn't appreciate. Fair at best. Drink on the Rocks was poorly executed barely a shot pour with to much ice in a paltry kitchen table type glass. The seafood over the lousy pasta was poor and looked canned?. I've seen this place many times going through downtown Wheaton and never stopped. I finally made reservations for our 19th Anniversary. It was a rainy, dreary night but the rooftop was enclosed and had a great ambiance. The waiter was friendly but could have been a bit more attentive. Also we waited a bit longer than all the tables around us for our food. Something happened in the kitchen that was not fully disclosed. The other miss was that I entered it was our 19th Anniversary in the online reservations and there was NO mention of it. Most places that ask, as II Sogno did, if there is special reason for the reservation pay attention and at least acknowledge it. If you don't pay attention to it, don't ask. The wait for the food, was worth it because the food was spot on. I had the Zuppe Di Pesce and my wife had the Tortellini Prosciutto. The portions were huge but the seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. I was happy to have leftovers. Price point was high but not unexpected. Great place for a special night. First, I'll say the food was excellent. (Which really is the most important part, right:) I had chicken parm, which was clearly homemade and a huge portion. The reason for the 3 stars, is the service just rushed us. We went for my wife's birthday this past Saturday night--a rare night w/our kids where we did not have to rush. But the constant serving staff interruptions just made the meal feel rushed. We didn't get to enjoy our wine and bread as the food came so quickly. I know that sounds crazy, but the service was too quick and attentive! Sometimes on. Saturday night you just want a slow, intimate meal, this didn't happen for us at Sogno. read more
