Last time I came by they were closed early. They close at 2pm daily til the evening. Today, I walked in and saw some people behind the counter. I waited to be seated but they eventually told me to order at the front and then sit after asking where I should sit. They could use a sign to let patrons know that's the process for table service. I guess I'm used to being seated and paying after the meal, but this is fine. I went with the ropa vieja because it's one of my favorite Cuban foods. I asked for the spiciest salsa and they gave me the brava. Food came out quickly. I was expecting tostones but got maduros which was fine. I liked the ropa vieja but the habichuelas were bland and wasn't expecting uncle Ben's rice. It was a decent portion for the price. Would I come back.. sure. It wasn't my favorite but has potential. The lady did come and check on me and was friendly. I will note the bathroom wasn't very clean. It's clearly been neglected as evidenced by the toilet stains, dust, and old contact lenses on the sink itself. There was no paper towels but they replaced it as soon as I told them

    Cuban sandwich with yucca fries

Picked up a fantastic dinner from Sofrito's Latin Innovation Kitchen last night. Been there several times before, and always have a delicious and satisfying meal. Last night we got the ACP and the Cuban Sandwich with a side of yucca fries. The ACP had two thin cuts of chicken, along with the rice and cheese as expected, but also had a nice spread of veggies; zucchini, broccoli, and onions. It was great, and a little more than we could eat and one sitting, which left a little extra for lunch today. The Cuban sandwich was one of the best I've been able to find in the Triad. It's got everything you want in a Cuban, flavorful pork, and ham, with meaty cheese and crispy dill pickles. The yucca fries are also great, perfectly crisp outside, but a mushy inside. They are my go to side whenever I dine here, and the creamy salsa they come with is the perfect dipping sauce for not only the yucca fries, but real adds some extra flavor to the Cuban as well!! I've recommend Sofrito's to others in the past, and will continue to suggest it to other looking for some new flavors. It's always fresh and delicious, check it out!

Baja fish tacos with tostones and churrasco sandwich with maduros

(3.75 stars) Formerly housed in the Four Seasons Mall food court, a stand-alone Sofrito opened in Oak Hollow Square (between GNC and Dragon Wok) shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. That timing may have caused Sofrito to slip under everyone's food radar, unfortunate given that it is one of the few pan-Latin eateries in the area. Sofrito's menu offers sandwiches and entrees from California to South America. Some (burritos, tortas, street tacos, and arroz con pollo) will be familiar to anyone accustomed to Mexican/Tex-Mex cuisine while others represent the flavors of the Caribbean (Cuban sandwiches, churrasco sandwiches, ropa vieja) and Colombia (arepas). Gluten-free options and a veggie plate further enhance Sofrito's menu diversity. After two visits, the food rates as good with some dishes clearly stronger than others. On the low end of the spectrum, the Cuban sandwich was dry, and the tostones were both dry and overly salty. Neither holds a candle to what you'll find at La Palma or a decent food truck. On the other hand, the churrasco sandwich featured some well-seasoned meats, the accompanying maduros were wonderfully sweet, and Sofrito's take on fish tacos may be the best version I've had: plenty of fish, flavorful batter, nice textural balance with the cabbage, pico, and sauce. Speaking of sauces, they offer several salsas made in-house, and the pink sauce makes for a versatile complement to many dishes. Most of Sofrito's offerings can be found in the reasonable $7-9 range with a side included. Portions aren't huge, but they are adequate for the money spent. The owners, an Army veteran and a second-generation restaurateur, are friendly and patient. Given its affordability and appealing concept, Sofrito is well worth investigating as a lunch option. Some trial and error may be involved in finding a favorite dish, but if ever you've posed a "Where can I get...." question about Latin American food in the triad, Sofrito may very well be the answer.

Very disappointed in this restaurant. Where the owner was pleasant and attentive, the food didn't measure up. Ordered the Cuban and as you will see it wasn't full of meat and sadly didn't go down well. I've had better Cubans at non-Latin establishments. Very disappointed once again. I expected much more.

Just say NOfritos, nasty nasty nasty!! Ordered street tacos with ground beef. Definitely wasn't ground beef. Also they never gave me my salsa for my side. My lunch companion Ordered a Cuban. They said they had a better Cuban at an Italian restaurant. JUST SAY NO!

    Bandeja Paisa, very authentic

FINALLY!!!! I found a little slice of authentic South Florida Heaven. A 25 minute drive for Bandeja Paisa take out was more than worth it. I've had this at various Miami Colombian restaurants like Rinconcito De Alex El Paisa, Los Arrieros, Rinconcito Paisa, and is spot on!!! If you're in the Greensboro/High Point/Winston Salem area and are homesick for some authentic Miami Latin fare, this is the real deal!!!

Delicious Latin food in a veteran owned cafe. Owner was pleasant and we plan to make a stop next time we are in the area!

I saw this lovely veteran owned restaurant after stopping by the UPS store and the name alone was a must try for me. I went early hoping to avoid the lunch rush and was glad I did. I was warmly greeted by owner/host. We chatted a little bit and then I sat down to wait for my food. I went basic because it was my first time and had Street Tacos with a side of rice and beans with House Salsa. The Street Tacos were good, but the house salsa brought happiness to my mouth. The fresh cilantro with vinegar and onion all melded together nicely. I didn't taste much habanero pepper, but I think too much would've distracted from the taste so it worked. I was stuffed, so I took my Tres Leches cake to go. I was disappointed by the cake. It was a bit dense where it's usually very light consistency. There was milk at the bottom of the container, but very little came with each forkful of cake. There wasn't much whipped cream on top of the cake, it was more decorative than actually part of the cake. If you're looking for great customer service from a family owned establishment and a nice yet quiet place for lunch, I highly recommend this restaurant. There were many Door Dash orders (probably because of the nearby office parks) so dining in is great. I would've given 5 stars, but the Tres Leches made me sad.

Fish tacos w/ plantains and passion fruit juice.

I'm always a big fan of Colombian food. After "Colombian cravings" closed in Burlington, we had to drive to Charlotte to get some Colombian food. However this little latin fusion place has many Colombian items. It is a good little place and everyone was inviting. The food came quickly and came out perfect. I would call this place casual dining as the food is delivered on disposable plates and utensils. This is also a place where you order up front and they bring it out to you. No wait staff at the tables, but they make sure to take care of you. Overall great food and friendly atmosphere.

    Flat tortilla Papusa

I went to visit a few weeks ago. While the food was phenomenal, it took almost an hour for my food which I ordered online and no one was in the restaurant to eat there either. The portions leave you hungry. The skinniest papusas, I thought they were tortillas (or arepas). The Carne Asada Papas Fritas were very good. I also ordered maduros (plantains), they were good but for 4.50 I was expecting more. It literally had to be just 1 plantain. Seeing they are a restaurant, I'm sure they're able to get plantains on the dollar. I basically paid $4 for them to just fry them. I make them all the time myself. I was expecting more. Also, I paid extra for extra cabbage which was $1. In the photos you will laugh because I received like 2 forks of the cabbage. I doubt they gave me extra. Lastly, after waiting forever I asked if there were forks and napkins inside because I was traveling and the owner said yes. When I got halfway to the car there was none and I had to go back inside. I felt lied too and even if it was a mistake, after an hour, everything should have been double checked. I would visit again and would have to order multiple. This is like Tapas style. Now that I know what to expect. Photos of food posted. Also, they put food in styrofoam and it melted. This is so unhealthy and contains cancer causing chemicals. There is no parchment paper underneath so it touched my food.

My chicken and Cheese Papusas were delicious! I tried all the salsas they had listed. My favorite was House (Colombian Aji). The Bandeja Platter is massive and super tasty. Definitely recommend this place as an introduction to Latin food.

What an incredible lunch was had at Sofrito on Cinco de Mayo. I knew better than to go to a Mexican restaurant on that day because it's just too busy, but I was craving some sort of Spanish, Latin or Mexican flavors. I'm so glad I chose to come here. The place had several patrons, both seated, actively ordering and the waiting for takeout. The gentleman taking orders and running the food was so nice. He really had customer service down pat, we we like to say here in the south. You order at the front stand. They have several ways to look at the menu, both on the wall menu board, a specials board and on paper. We sampled a pulled chicken rice bowl, bistec con tostones and tres leches for dessert. We definitely treated ourselves! The rice bowl had a choice of protein and pick your own salsa. I tried the verde salsa and the house salsa. The house salsa was definitely the better of the two. So refreshing! The bistec con tostones took the cake too. So tasty, filling and worth every penny. And last but not least, the tres leches was probably the best I've ever had. There was a prominent cinnamon flavor in the cake itself and was so light and fluffy! I'm still dreaming about it! The dining room just opened back up about a month ago and they do an incredible job with Covid safety measures. Pre packaged salsa, bottled drinks and lots of hand sanitizer available. Masks were worn, apart from eating, and the tables are social distanced. Support this restaurant when you can. You won't regret it!

The birria tacos came a bit OVERstuffed for me and they fell apart immediately, and there was zero real flavor. My margarita was giving straight strawberry syrup with a splash of "hope." Wait time for initial service was 30+ minutes, and we were told they were short-staffed. Our server was on day 2, so no shade to him at all -- that was a management/setup issue. It just felt like no one was really helping control the chaos or wait times. After eating, we still waited another 30 minutes just to get our checks. Not to mention, there was an extra margarita on my tab that I didn't order.
