Our meals came and we were given the wrong food. "She had written it down wrong," said the other server. We got new plates in about 11 minutes. The chicken was a small portion and very dry. Some sort of sauce would have helped. The corn bread stuffing inside was good, however. The potato pancakes were overcooked to a crisp. My husband was given an ice cold cup of coffee. He flagged down another server. Our server had to brew some new coffee. Meanwhile, I'd ordered tea asking for the tea bag on the side. I was given a pot of hot water the same time as his cold coffee. But I was NOT given a cup!!! When I finally got a cup, I asked for regular tea not a flavored tea. Ten minutes of them searching the kitchen and they said sorry, no regular tea. The new manager forgot to order any! Did I mention that my husband's desert cake was served freezer cold, too? Oh dear. What more can I say?

At 7:30-ish, she came back to the table to tell us that they were out of Sesame bagels after we waited 1/2 hour for our meals. We told her just to bring the soups... forget the bagels. Another 5 - 10 minutes passed, and our soups were served. My daughter asked for some crackers to go with the soup. She left the table, and went over to another one. We assumed she would then go get the requested crackers. Poor assumption. She never came back to the table until we were done with the soups. Sidebar note: The soups were obviously microwaved. One matzo ball were hot in the center... the second one cold... and they both were (as best as I can describe it) dried out. She came back over only to bring the check. She had apologized for the bagels, saying they had a lot of "big parties" earlier in the day. I paid, leaving a 15% tip, which I considered generous all things considered, and we left. We ended up getting additional food elsewhere. It's interesting to note that the guy behind the deli counter didn't come over to help. I laughed on our way out when he told us to have a good night.

This was not even close to NY deli style corned beef and not at all anything like what I have been served while dining in at the restaurant in the past. The rye bread crust was completely soft, no crunch. The flavor redeemed it. All in all, this was such a disappointment and will likely never dine at a TooJay's locations when near one in the future if this is what they are passing off as NY style corned beef these days. I was delighted with the look of my plate when it arrived. Pastrami looked and tasted absolutely perfect on the light and fluffy croissant. When we got across town to my father's house, the problems appeared. They packaged the soup, which was in a plastic container, surrounded by cellophane, and put it on its side. It leaked all over, and made a big mess. My dad's meal was similarly poorly contained, and leaked. My dad did enjoy what was there of the meal itself. My liver and onions, which I ordered to be "medium," was raw. Blood red. And that package also leaked. The vegetables and potatoes were good, but I had to microwave it all to death to eat any of it. My husband's fish and chips were inedible. Dry as a bone. They didn't include anything to moisten it. No tartar sauce, no vinegar, nothing. And his salad had no dressing. He ordered blue cheese. No sign of it. He had what was left of Dad's soup, which wasn't much. My husband called first because he was still hungry and tired from our travels to get there. As he spoke with the woman on the phone, she wanted us to come back and they'd remake everything. Uh, no. Then the phone disconnected. I called back and talked to Aaron, the manager. I think he already knew some of the issue, but I recounted it nonetheless. He didn't hesitate. He said he'd refund us. That was the right thing to do. I couldn't check my credit cards until we returned home, and I don't even see the charge, so he must have been able to cancel the whole transaction. At least he recognized that they'd completely messed up. If he hadn't refunded us, I'd have given them 1 star. 3 seems fair. We were SO disappointed, as we don't even have delis like this where we live, and in the past, we'd had better experiences. It was a little overdone and took away from the simplicity of avocado toast. The eggs were also more like over easy instead of over medium. My dad's wrap was fine but he asked for regular eggs instead of egg whites and they used egg whites. They also forgot to bring the salsa that came with the wrap. I also ordered ice coffee, which was burnt and just not good. It also took about 30 minutes to get our food, which felt long given there was no one there. The restaurant also felt old and dated.
