Gentleman said he can re-mount the piece no problem. I said, nah, that's okay, I don't really need it/want it. He pushed and said he'd fix it. So I said sure. Then I found out it would cost $45 to mount the piece. And since I originally didn't even want the piece, I didn't feel that $45 was worth it. No, that's okay, I said, just change the batteries and remove the piece. Later, I pick up the watch and it is no longer working. I showed him, and he said it was because I didn't want the piece mounted and that that was a part of the gears being stripped. I'm sorry, what? Never once in our original meeting did he say to me that if I had the piece removed that fell off (which I thought was decorative), that my watch wouldn't work. Why would I pay him to remove the piece and change the batteries if I thought it wouldn't work? So I said, "I'm sorry so I paid you for...." and he said "For the labor of removing the piece and changing the batteries." I said, "Oh, it just was not clear at all to me that removing the piece would cause the watch not to work." "The gears are stripped." Weird because it used to run fine before the batteries died, even after the decorative piece fell off. The hour and minute hands kept hitting the fallen piece, so clearly they worked fine. Why do I feel like I was being taught a lesson because I thought $45 for mounting a decorative piece wasn't necessary? Now it'll likely just be chalked up to a misunderstanding. Also, when I looked on my receipt, the line item I was charged for was "watch repair." If only!

Although they are 85 years old diamond rings from Tiffany but are very well kept. I cleaned once myself at home. It got quite sparkly. My friend told me I should get them professionally cleaned since the rings are beautifully designed. I was skeptical at first, wondering how much difference it would make. But today when I picked my rings up, I was surprised at how sparkly and shinny they look, the band color changed completely, they look completely brand new. I was so happy and cant get my eyes off of my rings because they are so sparkly. Plus the service is very affordable. The owner is so friendly. Better than diamonds district. Highly recommended.

This is a tiny jewelry store that I've probably walked by hundreds of times since living in this part of Astoria, but had never noticed it until I was in need of this service. You'll need to buzz the door in order to be let in, but no appointment necessary. Shopping wise the store has a nice selection of watches, costume jewelry and finer options if you're in the market for something really special. My watch was done within 10 minutes, and I handed over the $8 I had thought I'd heard the guy quote me at the start of our transaction. As I headed out, I heard him call me back and let me know it was actually $10. I apologized and told him I must have misheard, then we did an awkward back and forth where he said it was fine and I was like no it's okay (because who knows, I'm getting old and my hearing could totally be going). Not a bad option if you need a new battery in a pinch.

The ring was a gift from the staff of P.S. 151Q, when I retired over twenty years ago. Jay, the owner was kind and very professional and totally fastidious about cleanliness. He examined my ring and explained that what I thought was a missing stone was actually a "junction" space, but that there was a stone at one end of the design that was cracked and needed replacement and the one that I originally came in about. He took pictures, measured, took my information and told me he would need two weeks. I paid the very fair price, and was surprised to get a text on Wednesday that my ring was ready. The ring that my grandson picked up for me yesterday was absolutely gorgeous, shined and polished and sparkling with its two new diamonds. I highly recommend this shop for all repairs and purchases, he had truly unique and lovely pieces. Joan Introzzi
