    16 oz ribeye
    James T.

Looking for some Italian food in Old San Juan, we stumbled upon Sofia's. Glad we did, it was just what my group was looking for! I got a ribeye (16 oz) with a side of fettuccine Alfredo. I didn't care too much for the Alfredo sauce, but my steak was good. The ciabatta bread with the cinnamon butter was also delicious! Service was great. Outdoor and indoor seating was available immediately without a reservation.

Best Italian restaurant in the Old San Juan area do not leave this part of the island without trying the spaghetti bolognese and cream brûlée. Ect.....

We were happy that we had made a reservation, as tables appeared full. Our server, Pedro, was excellent and made great recommendations. We shared empanadas, then each enjoyed a shrimp entree. Our bottle of wine was very reasonably priced. Great evening.

I know you see the pizza, for Puerto Rico is was valid. Edible, sauce was very good, I don't normally like tomatoes as a topping but they are so fresh and flavorful here theres nothing to argue about. That Old Fashioned though. Everything. I love Barralito rum as is, but rum converted into an old fashioned is a win every time. Feels like a side plug, but this as a rum alone, one of the best you can get on the island! The ribeye had me eating from the bone in public. Theres no way around it, I don't care, I did not want to miss a single piece it was prepared so well and comes to the table SIZZLING. Don't be the table watching the sizzle walk someplace else. The stroganoff was ok, not as remembered, in which, just ok. There was a creamier element in the past that was no longer present. This felt more like a wine, a marsala sauce pasta than a stroganoff. Ok in itself, but not what we wanted. Overall, staff walked us in, they were extremely hospitable all throughout. The ambience was on point and food was great. 1st review, but likely my third time here. Will return again in the future!

This was a great visit! Dined in on a Sunday at 1pm when they opened. We had a reservation for 6pm but were able to change it. Service was a bit slow from our waiter especially being the only ones there for the first 45 mins. We were a party of 10 but our waiter was slow clearing our table so we had a lot of dishes from apps and empty drinks. We ordered a variety of apps. Champagne shrimp, the mushrooms, mussels, meatballs, cheese sticks! All of it was soooooo good! The garlic butter mussels and the meatballs were my favorite! I was full off of apps! For my entree i just got the chicken Alfredo -i wound give it a 7/10. It was good but just ok. The portions were huge! I barely took 5 bites because i was so full off apps! But would def be back because the food was great!!! FYI-they could only split checks into two and they do charge for water which was odd.

On the busy corner of the Old San Juan. So it was packed and can get really loud. But the food was delicious! Pedro our server gave us excellent service and my family and I love the food. Lobster and Shrimp ravioli were so creamy and perfectly made. Fettuccine was awesome sauce! Husband had the porter house steak medium rare and it was so juicy. Highly recommended. Also had the Sophia's appetizer which we could have done without. Margaritas pizza was perfectly thin and extra cheesy. I highly recommend this restaurant and my family will definitely return when visiting Puerto Rico.

It took us a couple of tries, but we finally got to eat at Sofia's. My daughter loves Italian food so we have to try the spot that was across from our Airbnb. We had to sit at the bar which I'm usually not a fan of, but the two bartenders were very entertaining and conversational. They suggested I order the champagne spaghetti. My daughter had scallops, probably with fettuccine. Instantly, we were enjoying the artwork on the walls of various gangsters from different movies. The Sopranos on one side and Goodfellas on the other. It wasn't until I walked to the ladies room that I see a large portrait of Sofia Loren that I realized it was named after her. I highly recommend this place for the food and the friendly staff. I had a really nice time there, even if it was at the bar.

Here on vacation and came across this authentic Italian restaurant in a old San Juan, as soon as you walk in your greeted by the staff, our waitress name was Ariana one of the Best waitress I had since visiting this beautiful place. My order was the Parmagiana was to die for!! The entire meal was super fresh made to perfection. I'm so sad this restaurant isn't back home I would be here weekly. The restaurant is super spacious for all. If your looking for the best Italian food in Puerto Rico make sure to stop at this location your be amazed! If you live here make sure to stop you won't regret it and will make this restaurant your favorites. Thank you to the chefs and Ariana for such amazing experience.

I love this place!! I ate here back in 2019 just before covid and it was my first time trying Margherita Pizza Ever since then Margherita Pizza has been my go-to pizza. I have been a few times since then including last night. I was a little worried I wouldn't like the pizza as much since I have tried several other Margherita Pizzas now but it still was delicious The people I walked with to here all loved their food as well. The ambiance was good too. I prefer outdoor seating and was disappointed we had to sit indoors but I got over it.

Great location, great service, and great food! We were traveling with 5 adults and a tween and were looking for something we could all agree to. Sofia's came highly rated online and did not disappoint. We did have to split tables to side indoors but that was fine because the tables were adjacent but not pushed together. I tasted the mozzarella sticks, cheese pizza, spaghetti and meatballs (which are beef), the chocolate soufflé and vanilla ice cream. I enjoyed all of it! Overall the place was great with amazing service and food!

I tried Sofia's for dinner with my friends after our excursion. It is beautiful on the inside and the server we had was very friendly. They specialize in Italian dishes and they had an impressive wine selection. I was not in the mood for pasta, but obliged to try something different after many Latin meals. I did not know what to order and relied on the waiter's recommendation of butternut squash ravioli and a side Caesar salad. BIG mistake. The ravioli needed salt. The sauce was delicious but the pasta was bland. I LOVED the freshly baked bread so much, that I ordered extra. I also enjoyed my salad. One of my friend's ordered a pasta with beef and seemed to like it, I think it was the the bolognese, but don't quote me on that. My other friend only ordered the appetizer of steamed mussels and bread and I wished that I would have gotten that! Her sauce tasted great and she really enjoyed her dish. For the price, I wish I would have opted for another dish. Overall, it was a nice experience and good service, but nothing I'd make a special trip to come back for.

Situated in an old, historic hotel, you're immediately greeted by a special vibe as you enter under a tall arched gate into a balcony-esq dining area overlooking the hotel corridors on one side and a bar with turquoise sponge-painted wall on the other. We were informed that they had a seat for two but somehow the young man at the entryway tried to sit us at the bar, but speaking to the waitress, we were able to grab a seat in the main dining area. I mean, it wasn't even full - but we were told that reservations are going to be coming in. We had the burrata salad (a running theme by now in P.R. - we were gasping for non-deep fried and fresh vegetables since the whole island seemed to have come deep-fried), tuna tartare, and a grilled pulpo over potato with tomato sauce appetizers. One note: Since Puerto Rico is a US territory, it does share a lot in common with US, such as portion sizes. We learned the hard way during lunch that portions are HUGE and priced high so that tourists cough up more money. That's why we ordered 3 appetizers here for dinner. Burrata was a welcome change with some greens that we sorely needed, but unfortunately there were many wilted red leaf lettuce leaves in there so we had to send it back to have it re-made. Once back though, we enjoyed the lightly creamy burrata on a bed of bitter arugula, sweet cherry tomatoes and balsamic glaze. It reminded me of the salad I make everyday at home, LOL, minus the burrata. Tuna tartare was nothing to write home about and the toasted mini baguettes were a bit too brittle and old. Rosemary sprigs on top really didn't add anything to the taste and were old as well, so ended up being more of a nuisance. The octopus was pretty juicy and good, though nothing like the real leg of grilled octopus. I enjoyed the combination of flavorful potato mash, sharp vinegary red onion slices, and the briny bites of octopus. As we were eating, the place became comfortably packed and people seemed to be enjoying themselves here. It definitely had that underground hideout / secret bar vibe - a lady just needed to wear a feathered hat and smoked long pipe cigarette to complete that 1940s movie look. But overall, we were not too impressed with the food - there were definitely better options available in the area. Don't get me wrong - it wasn't BAD and I think it might still be worth it if you want a good vibe and decent food in San Juan... but if you had other choices that are open, look there first.

We were a group of 12, hence finding a restaurant that would accommodate us was difficult. Thankfully, Bayside was able to do so. Since we were interested in seeing the ships and see if we could board some of them, we skipped the appetizers and went straight to the main course... and drinks of course. Unfortunately, our food took about an hour and a half to arrive, maybe more. When it finally arrived, I noticed they left off the bacon from my bacon cheeseburger. I was too hungry so I let it go. I thought I'd just ask the waitress to take it off the bill. Coincidentally, my wife's order also had mistakes. She ordered sautéed onion for her burger. Instead, she got onion rings. She did let the waitress know, who went and got the onions. When the bill arrived, I noticed the bacon was not on it. It seems she forgot to write it down. However, she did include the onion rings my wife never ordered. We decided not to complain because the group was ready to leave and it was already dark out. When we reached the ships, they had already closed the gates. Bummer. The burgers were good, not great, and they did accommodate our large group, so I'll give them that. They also had a very good IPA from Definitive Brewing Co. (Portland,OR).

We were dragged here by family who live in San Juan because it's "kid friendly" and on the marina. The view of the marina was, I'll admit, spectacular- but the view from the bridge is the same and you don't risk contracting a serious disease like you do at sizzler. The view is the 1 star on this review. Where to start? Well, the buffet for adults is $18 off the rip. The place is. Absolutely. Completely. Unbelievably FILTHY. Wet floors. Dirty utensils. Sticky tables. Filthy "sneeze guards." The bathrooms- listen I've spent time in a literal JAIL with a cleaner place to relieve myself. On top of that- there are bugs (both flying and crawling) throughout this hell hole. The food was what may be described as "summer camp run by sadists with a mission statement to cause the spread of food borne illnesses and a non-zero chance at death." Food left for hours (days?) under the lamps so that everything that didn't look like diarrhea covered in vomit simply looked like various kinds of roadkill jerky. Anything that was in a mostly liquid state of matter had a tough skin over it from the "gravy" to what I believe was supposed to be broccoli cheese soup but bore a concerning resemblance to stadium nacho cheese that had been left on the sidewalk for a week or two. The salad bar items, "desserts" and "hot foods" were all the same temperature- somewhere between room temp and Petri dish incubator. I'm frankly shocked that this place is able to operate and hasn't been shut down. The only bright spot is I think I made a new friend or two- I think I have a tape worm.
