I didn't believe the reviews, but I was wrong. Korean BBQ cauliflower was delicious. A little on the sweet side, but I'd order it again. I got the Penne Carbonara and thought, "it's good". He added some Parmesan cheese and I asked for salt and pepper. Then we're were off to the races!! It was spectacular. My friends had pizza that they really liked. One wished there had been more sauce on her white pizza. My friend had the steak and said it was cooked just the way she asked. Limited drink and dessert menu. I'd definitely come back. Edit to add: After we paid, our waiter surprised me with small containers of salt and pepper for my carry out order. I ordered the chicken parm and the breading was so hard and though to eat, and my husband's bolognese pasta, literally looked and tasted as if I had made it myself at home. OMG. Fettuccini Carbonara with chicken is 'best in class'! Serving size feeds two. Wife ordered Guavanoli. The Chicken stuffed crepes topped with melted cheese and warm guava sauce was so good she didn't want to share (she did anyway). These two dishes will not disappoint. We will be back again. Horrible experience order the snapper on menu and the taste was too fishy. While eating a mice ran across under the table. The Tostadas were fried too hard like a brick. Horrible customer service brought to waiter Pamela attention and was offered a complimentary desert waiter never came out who did come out 40 minutes later was fake a accent French manager instead very prejudice and implied that the waiter was not authorized to comp a desert. By then I was so turfmen off. He said he was here to resolve any issues but instead made it worst with his horrible costumer service. I came here with a group of 8 people earlier this evening. We made a reservation in advance and were seated immediately. I wish we would've been seated at a booth so our entire party could've sat together, but the way our group was split up, we were able to do a kids table and adult table. The food was amazing and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I personally had the garlic mussels which came in a smaller portion than I expected, but the mussels were huge and flavorful. The sauce was A1 and paired well with the bread. I was very tired, so I didn't get to enjoy my Jack Mule. From the small amount that I tried, it tasted great. Overall, Sofia's provided us with a great dining experience, all of the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the food was amazing. When I return to Puerto Rico, I will definitely be returning. read more

I completely spaced on taking pictures because we were so hungry. I have a video but I cannot post that. We sat outside because it's just a gorgeous view to enjoy with you food. But inside is very nice too. Our server was very attentive and so friendly. But he over sold us on everything stating this is the best you'll ever have and stated that with every meal that was ordered. Everytime I am near the ocean I love to try a whole fried fish and this was amazing. It was crispy even with the sauce on top. The sauce they had with it had so much flavors. Wish there was more. We also started with the clams, but it actually was green mussels. Big confusion there. This was okay- the server sold us on this. But it was Italian white sauce on top of green mussels. Nothing really Italian about it. My other friends order steak and salmon that came with a red sauce that they were sold on and they honestly wasn't a fan. Maybe stay away from the red sauce? Oh where do I begin. The entire night was a disaster. After reading the reviews I was very surprised on the outcome of the evening. We ordered our drinks that were not made properly, so when we ordered another 2 we asked for a little adjustment, but they turned out worse than the first ones. (Once we finally got them) Our meatball appetizer never came. The person who served our dinner went to check and never came back. We addressed it to our waiter and he could have cared less. When we placed our meatball order we were told we should place our meals as well because he had a big party to wait on as well and ours would take awhile. We felt very rushed to make a decision. Anyway I ordered the filet that I had to scrape 3 slabs of butter of the top. Yuck. The fries were nothing special. Although my boyfriend's meal was very good except for the bland fettuccini Alfredo. Horrible experience. I made reservations 2 weeks in advance because I heard great things about this place. Arrived a little before our reservation. There were people at 5 tables in the inside. We were seated immediately and that was it. We sat there for 20 minutes as the 6-7 waiters walked all around us. Then another couple came in and guess what, they were helped immediately. I asked if we had a waiter and was told someone would be with us soon. At this point I was infuriated because we had been waiting 20 minutes and there were more than enough waiters but the people who came 15 minutes after us were helped immediately. I don't like to pull the race card but it really made me feel some kind of way. Then when my husband asked about it we were told they were on break but that's strange to me because everyone else was getting service but us and we were the only ones that looked like us in there. read more

Yes, the decor was a typical NYC starter pack for an Italian restaurant - photos from The Godfather and The Sopranos. But okay. I enjoyed the pasta with pesto, peas and cherry tomatoes, paired perfectly with a red wine sangria. My dinner partners had filets that they bragged about all night w steak frites and grilled asparagus. Plus a waiter held my hand as I walked down the steps from the bathroom. We had an excellent Italian meal at Sofia's for my love's birthday. I had the linguine Regina (scallops, shrimp, calamari, mussels, and asparagus in a spicy cream sauce.) which was one of the best pasta dishes I have had outside of my own home. I'm a very good Italian cook specializing in pastas so I am often disappointed when ordering pasta in a restaurant but Sofia's did not disappoint! We had to wait about 45 minutes for an outside table but we're kept entertained by chatting with other couples also waiting. We ended up sharing a table with another couple we meet standing in line. They also throughly enjoyed their food Would definitely go back if ever in Old San Juan again! read more

For starters the food was really good I had the tortellini Loren and it did not disappoint. Drinks were really good as well. This is more of an semi fancy restaurant so there is a dress code for eating inside. If not they do have outdoor seating. The location kind of reminds me of Italy in a way. The service was good. The only issue my friends and I had was there were flies bothering us while we ate outside. read more

Sofia's is located in a prime-located corner lot on the edge of Old San Juan. There is outside seating, as well as inside if you prefer AC or the weather isn't cooperating. I had a gin and tonic to drink. Better made than most in the city, but likely with well liquor. I would probably get one of their menu drinks instead next time. Ordered the filet mignon for dinner with steak fries as the side. Came on a hot cast iron fajita pan, still sizzling. I ordered the temperature Medium as I assumed they wouldn't cook it all the way, and I was right. It came a perfect Medium-Rare with the last bit of meat cooking to Medium on the pan as I finished. I would return if I was in the Old San Juan area and wanted a decent Italian meal while sitting outside. read more

This is the best restaurant in Old San Juan. No question of that. If you like your food to have taste in it, then go here! I feel as though this is one of a few restaurants in Old San Juan where the food tastes like food. Highly recommend the calamari with the Shrimp Fettucine Alfredo. I forget the waiters name - Spanish Gal with Starfish earrings - but she was SO KNOWLEDGEABLE of the menu and sweet. When the power went out (common for peurto Rico, ive learned) all the staff apologized for something out of their control. Overall, great restaurant to go and enjoy an amazing meal! read more
