I confess....I love Bulgarian food. It really is the top cuisine of the Balkans. So I am really happy to have a couple of fine Bulgarian restaurants within walking distance of where I live. That's just how it is in Vienna's Margareten district. The menu here is large but if you are new to Bulgarian dining, I recommend going with the "K's." That means begin with a superb Katuk appetizer. The yogurt, sheep's cheese, roasted paprika, and dill concoctions are a great way to get your taste buds in tune with Southeastern Europe. For your entrée you cannot go wrong with a Kavarma cooked and served in the famous Bulgarian Gyuveche. I ordered the Chicken Kavarma and this slow-cooked stew was piping hot, tender and tasty.
Vienna is very fortunate in having Bulgarian restaurants. I mean how many Italian, Chinese, and Sushi restaurants does a city need? Now reward your taste buds and support these Bulgarian eateries! read more
