Pros: -Called around 5p and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day -Appointment window was reasonable (12-4) and they came when they said they would -Were able to remove and cart away a large sleeper sectional -Accepted credit cards Cons: -Person who took my call seemed like they were on a cell phone and were not very professional (barked "hello?!" a few times and didn't answer with name of company or any other reassuring details) -Once arrived, they quoted a new rate double what they quoted over the phone (based on nothing as far as I can tell, as I had been honest about what floor I was on and that the sofa was a sleeper when I booked) -Method of removal was chopping the sofa into pieces, bits of which I am still finding around my apartment days later In sum, after years of living in New York, I've come to expect services of this type to be a fiasco. So I wasn't too upset over the above, as I sort of figured as much after reading other Yelp reviews. Scheduled for an 11-3 window and... They never showed up. Not a peep from them and no answer. They disassembled the furniture and hauled it out of the apartment in an impressive amount of time. In the hauling and and cleaning industry, it's very rare that you get to deal with nice people. Awesome service and polite, nice guys. I was a little hesitant when seeing what was previously described as their "Geocities-inspired" website, but this company is the real deal. I had a 12 year old leather sofa that I couldn't donate (too worn to sell) and that no one would take for free let alone buy due to the fact that it was cosmetically damaged and located on a 3rd floor walk-up with narrow stairwells. I called Joe who quoted me a reasonable price and they showed up at a perfect time in the mid afternoon. These guys are great! Two men showed up, they were polite, they quickly disassembled my IKEA couch in half an hour, then removed the items down four flights of stairs into their truck. You have the choice to pay cash or credit (this option costs a little extra extra but I like to track my expenses). They deserve a nice tip for being nice and doing the job efficiently. They were fantastic! I had a large 3 seater and arm chair that needed to go. The sofa was just a bit too large for the elevator, so I knew I would need help. I was very impressed by the flat rate cost and by the efficiency of their service. I only had to call a couple of days before to set my appointment. Absolutely amazing. We had a big old sofa to get rid of. Called at 8:15 on a Friday night expecting to leave a message and hoping that maybe, maybe, we could get the sofa out on Saturday or Sunday. Joe answered right away and asked a few questions. When we said we wanted him to come in Saturday he said fine. Then he asked our address and said "do you want it gone today?" I had looked into several options and Sofa Removal looked almost too good to be true. I called on a Tuesday and they came on time, as scheduled on Saturday afternoon prior to delivery of the new couch. Since they work out of Brooklyn and I live in Washington Heights, they asked for more than the $95 listed on the website, but it was still completely reasonable pricing, asked for upfront (so no surprises later), and below what others are charging. I relied completely on this company's positive Yelp reviews when I hired them to remove two bookcases, a sofa, a dresser and two area rugs from my apartment. While I would usually shop around for a service I hadn't used before, my instinct was that I would get a better price and good service from this "mom and pop" operation, and I wasn't wrong. The proprietor Joe and his helper came on time, with excellent communication by text, and were very efficient. The price he gave me was the price he charged. I do think that texting him photos of what needed to go helped him to provide a firm price. All in all, highly recommended if you have stuff to get rid of that would be too much for you and your super to handle yourself. read more

Just had my sofa removed and it was an L-shaped sofa bed from Ikea that needed to be taken apart and taken down three flights of stairs in Chinatown. Everything was done in half an hour! Initially, I was given a window of 12-4 and it was shortened to 1-2 and they came at 1:04. It was a little more expensive than I had anticipated but that's the city for you.
