So the first time I used this company we had no problems. Not one but this time around I'm really unhappy with the professionalism. First off I was extremely clear to the company as to what was needed and when it came time to send pictures of the items, it was a surprise to them that I needed an additional room moved. Again I was clear in my email to the owner so when he gave me his pricing I was extremely happy. No need to look elsewhere. Right? He straight out played me. Hit me with an additional $200 charge with no time to look elsewhere. Then when we went back and forth and I resent the email I originally sent him when we were discussing pricing, he tried to justify his mistake because his "answer" specifically said "stop" and not additional room. You're a scammer who made a mistake and left me no choice to choose you because I couldn't get another moving company in a days notice. Oh and to top it off an hour late without notice. After having to repeat my pick up and drop off address multiple times over Yelp and text I mentioned to him how I did not appreciate having to repeat myself - I was told that i was being disrespectful and to use someone else. I ended up not using this company, but after the last message I received from them, I'm sure glad I didn't. I ran into some scheduling issues with the moving company I initially booked. I put out a request for quotes on Thumbtack and Great Service was among the companies that responded. I used the thumbtack messaging tool to stay in touch with them and ask any questions I had -- I was stuck in meetings at work and didn't have a chance to get away and make a call. At the end of the day, after reviewing the many quotes I received, I chose to go with a different company. When I sent a courtesy note to Great Service, this was their exact response: "That's good, you were making this complicated. May God bless the other company. " I'm not going to apologize for asking questions and doing my due diligence as opposed to blindly throwing my money at movers. In any case, this is no way to speak to a potential client. Just used these guys to help move me into my new apartment: A+ The mover I had scheduled for today bailed on me last minute, literally cancelled at 9pm last night, reached out to a few people that had good ratings on Yelp and these guys came through big time! Last minute booking, the guy called me 3 minutes after j messaged him. Asked me about the job, set a time, gave me a VERY reasonable price and no other nonsense They met me at my apartment in Bay Ridge, 3 guys with 2 cargo vans. The 3 guys that came were all nice guys, worked hard, no complaints no wasting time. Got the job done in the time I had hoped and didn't try to throw in any extra fees or BS. None of my stuff was broken, missing, or f'ed up in any way. Great service. Would 100% recommend them to family or a close friend for move. Good job ! read more

TLDR: Do not hire this service. They subcontracted our 3 man job to a 2-man team, who then caused extensive damage. Jaja agreed to refund the delivery fee, but never actually sent the refund: he gave excuses for a month and has since stopped responding to phone calls and texts. I asked for a quote for 3 men to wrap and transport a large 350 lb Subzero refrigerator and was given a flat rate of $175, which seemed like a very good price. The day of the delivery, only two men showed up with the refrigerator balanced on a small dolly. The refrigerator was poorly wrapped with only one moving blanket taped around it (insufficient for its large size) and delivered with giant gouges in the back and dents on almost all corners. The electrical plug was crushed in the move. The movers said that they don't work for Jaja - they were subcontracted for the job, and were never told that 3 men were required for the job. To be clear, I think they were a bit sloppy, but I don't completely blame them because it was a very unwieldy and heavy refrigerator. It really required 3 people to move it safely - which is why I specified that I needed 3 people to move it when booking. We replaced the power cord, only to find that the refrigerator compartment doesn't cool. We call a refrigerator repair service and are told that the evaporator coils were damaged and must be replaced, which is a very expensive repair. I contacted Jaja, who after some back and forth said he would refund us the original $175. The initial job was in May, and he agreed to the refund May 25 but never paid it. I followed up for a couple of weeks, but no refund came. When I finally heard back, he told me his father had passed away and he would send a refund the following week. I told him I was sorry for his loss, and that the following week would be fine. The refund never came. I continued to follow up. In total, I followed up 8 times throughout June and July via text and calls and the past few times I've gotten no response. I've since given up and decided to post a review. I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere and paying more if you have anything that needs to be moved with care. I deeply regret booking the job with them. read more

Chris and Paris went above and beyond to tackle the difficult job I hired them for. I needed a washing machine moved from my basement to the upstairs kitchen. Easy right...NOT. The washer had to come up through a basement opening which led to the front yard outside. I was very doubtful that just the two of them would be able to accomplish this task. Just moved from NYC to New Haven and these guys were awesome! It was last minute but I was able to book these guys just three days in advance and they definitely quoted the cheapest deal when I was shopping around. Although not far, it's still out of state so all the other places were quoting $1200+ to move just a small studio apartment. The owner was super quick to respond and did ask to send pictures of the items to be moved for reference which seems fair. Chris and Sean were the actual movers and they were super quick, professional and nice - even took the time to put my bed together for me. They were easy to communicate with via phone regarding their ETA and worked around not being able to use the freight elevator in my building. I cannot thank them enough! Rashim and Paris did a great job moving my roommate and I to our new apartment. They're boss was very quick to respond to our request when we gave them a day's notice. They were an hour late but that's to be expected with traffic in Brooklyn. They carried our large furniture 3 flights down very steep stairs and up another 3 flights at our new place and made sure to take care of all our belongings. Jaja was very quick to respond when setting up the move. He's quite relaxed and asks a few questions via e-mail. He is willing to negotiate on price and asked for a deposit before confirming. He even accommodated the fact that a friend of mine was also moving and allowed us to load up the same truck and drop off in two separate locations. The day before the move, he asked for pictures. I was happy to oblige; however, he said it was more than what I had initially disclosed (it wasn't) and increased the price. This is not what you want to hear the night before a move! While this is a keen business tactic, this was less than ideal from my point of view. On moving day, he sent a two-man team and they were fantastic! Both really nice guys and very efficient. My friend and I tipped them well. Jaja requested the final payment via cash or venmo to "avoid fees," so be ready for this. Two of my items were irreparably damaged during the move. Jaja was slow to respond when I asked for a refund, but ultimately refunded me what I thought was fair for the damaged items. Definitely great customer service in that regard! tl;dr: Great moving company that is cheaper than the mainstream ones, especially if you have unique situations since you are talking to a real person, not a corporation. Last-minute price change left a sour taste, but overall very happy with the movers and the refund for damaged items. I would give it a 4.5 if I could! read more

***DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS** Incredibly unprofessional and unreliable. I called 2 weeks before our move and they gave us a flat rate fee. We discussed all the furniture and items that needed to be moved. I even provided pictures when asked. 10pm, the night before the move, I texted to confirm our move. I also added that there were a few additional boxes that were not included in original pictures. The owner (i believe) got upset, stated that I was being dishonest, and told me he would have to charge us more (forgetting our agreement to the FLAT FEE). When I told him I had originally said we needed to move what was in the pictures + some additional boxes from the beginning, he said it was getting "too complicated" and canceled. Some extra boxes were too complicated?? Mind you that this was the night before we had to leave our apartment. In regards to my experience in the past, I would always have to wait a few hours for delivery, but this moving company exceeded my expectations. The two delivery men even had to wait 10 minutes for me to arrive to my new place - and they didn't mutter or complain but instead welcomed me with a great attitude! This person, Jaja, was the most disrespectful and condescending person I've ever hired. The first words out of his mouth were, "You better tip well because there are more stairs than you told me about." Despite my horror, I tried to remain calm and say I had no problem renegotiating the "flat fee" he gave me in order to get this job done. I gave him a chance to redeem himself, but he kept being rude. My goal was to just get my things upstairs. Little did he know, I actually am a very generous tipper. I did not intentionally withhold any information from him when hiring him for the move, but he seemed to think I did. I said I was a fair person and wanted to come into this new apartment with good energy. He kept battling with me, and after naming a new price to which I agreed, he wouldn't let me say my part but cut me off saying why do you keep talking when we could be moving things? He clearly is an alpha male who could care less about a single female trying to do her best. I hired this mover for an upload of a truck I drove up for an emergency move from out of state. He had no idea I had to pack my whole house in 2 days but then ventured to correct me multiple times about how things were not wrapped properly. A male customer would not have taken lightly the comments Jaja threw at me. I had enough and at one point just said I want this job done. On top of that, a friend who was with me even said he treated his helpers poorly. His movers were putting pieces of furniture on their sides scraping the sides, I saw it out of the window and had to call out to not do that. Previously, I lived in NYC for 16 years and have never experienced such rudeness in a supposedly professional person. I would not recommend him in the least, anyone considering his service should look elsewhere. You never know what someone is going through, and he has no idea what I've been through to get into this apartment. He should be ashamed at his behavior." -June 4th, 2016. As an update to this review I originally posted on Thumbtack,com where I hired him, he wrote a response saying he forgives me for my review, and that he hopes future clients will disregard my review as he only tried to relieve my distress. His response alone shows his disregard and unwillingness to take responsibility for his actions in the least. I was not in any distress upon driving up to my new apartment to unload, I was actually quite happy to be getting it done. His attitude and demeaning words completely ruined my experience of getting into this new apartment within the first five minutes of meeting him. In his response, he also mentioned he cannot control my being a single woman. Jaja is as rude as they come, but he clearly tries to hide it. I just got off the phone with Thumbtack, and their policy is to not remove vendor responses, but the representative spoke to her colleagues and they agreed his response to my review was absolutely snarky and they would address the situation with him directly.
