We had a fabulous lunch here a couple days ago that fueled us for the rest of the afternoon. It's a cute, little shop tucked away in Soho and there's plenty of extra seating downstairs, which is also more quiet.
The halloumi salad is seriously one of the best and most inventive salads that we have ever had. Bravo. The grilled cheese pieces were so crisp and wonderfully salty and we loved the contrast with the soft mushrooms and mashed avocado. The dressing was out of this world. We would come back to London for that salad alone. Our poached egg on sourdough with pancetta and wilted spinach was also delightful (so much spinach!), but the chipotle sauce on top tasted off and didn't contribute much to the dish.
For sweets, we all shared the mud cake, a mazarin, and a cardamom bun. The mud cake was so oozy that it practically looked melted but tasted like delicious chocolate lava. The cardamom bun, alas, was a disappointment--dry and kind of boring (we have yet to replicate our experience of it at Fika in Minneapolis). The almond and pistachio mazarin was the best one: incredible! So chewy and sweet with each of the flavors shining through. Amen!
We didn't love our coffee or chai, but our daughter did finish her hot chocolate, so no complaints. The staff was pleasant. A wonderful meal and we'd be happy to encourage others to go. read more
