She helped me make a selection since I hadn't visited the location before. I chose the oatmeal cookie smoothie which was delicious (sweetened with dates). Because I was a new customer, she kindly offered to let me try an aloe drink, a tea sample and my smoothie....complimentary as a new customer. That was very kind. The Nauti Bowl (my selection) was a heaping bowl of açaí and pitaya topped generously with peanut butter, banana, granola, and cacao nibs. I got the second-smallest size, and even so, was very full. The peanut butter and banana really make this bowl filling! My partner built his own bowl, and was quite excited that the options were so open-ended. The staff were super helpful, especially once we told them we hadn't been in before. I really appreciated the flexibility of being able to choose between house specialty bowls (which you can adjust as desired) or building your own from scratch. I also liked the variety of sizes: four options, ranging from small to quite large. The shop is clean, bright, and comfortable, with boppy music playing. It was a welcoming spot to sit and eat. Note: I was initially going to give Nautical Bowls four stars because it's casual counter service, but here's the thing I realized: they should be compared against their immediate peers (not, for example, a fine dining restaurant), and in that realm, they knock it out of the park!

Nautical Bowls was a surprisingly fun treat for me, as I don't tend to gravitate towards places…read morethat serve açai bowls and the like. However, I knew I would like it when I found out that they have frozen, sorbet like bases, including chocolate. I sampled the chocolate, coconut, and a few fruit based flavors, and ultimately decided on the chocolate with just a small amount of coconut. For toppings, I went with some fresh strawberries, frozen shaved strawberries, their Tropical Harmony drizzle (which had passion fruit in it), and some matcha powder on top. The friendly staff at the counter built the bowl for me as I picked my bases and toppings. They scooped out the sorbet base and flattened it in the bowl. It made the sorbet become a little less frozen than I'd prefer by the end, but It was delicious nevertheless. This was really refreshing on a hot afternoon. I didn't notice the matcha very much, but the other parts were more prominent. Ultimately my favorite was the chocolate sorbet. Everything they serve is dairy- free, egg- free, gluten- free, and soy -free. They offer a coconut based whipped cream. I had a coupon, which reduced the price significantly. The price of $8.95 for the 8 oz Kayak Unlimited Toppings Bowl before applying my coupon seemed high for me personally but I do recognize that everything is house-made from good quality ingredients. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out!
