Visited after seeing the price online for St. Aug Floratam, we only needed 30 pieces. I wish I had read reviews prior. The woman was not the most personable, that's fine but I said the price online was $1.95 and she said, yes that's the online price. Our price was 2.50. So if I would have ordered online and picked up I would have saved $20. I have never visited a company that doesn't honor a price seen online. Lots of crab grass in the sod but weren't willing to fight that battle. Update: we ended up removing that section of sod. So money lost but we didn't see any other way because of how infiltrated it was with weeds. read more

If I could give half a point that's what I would give them... especially the owner. I ordered 14 total pallets of sod with 2 deliveries. The first delivery was fine, the second one, I was told would arrive around noon or after lunch. My crew was waiting to lay the sod, but the truck didn't get here until 5pm. That's waaaay after lunch. I had called several times to try to get an estimated timeframe, but only was able to reach a person one time and she said she couldn't give me a time frame. That was at approximately 3 PM. I learned when the driver got here that he didn't even load my sod up until 2:30pm. So I think she could have found out that it was going to be much later. Meanwhile my crew sat around all afternoon with nothing to do, and of course, I had to pay them for that. Then, while laying the sod the next day, we found out that one of the pallets wasn't the same sod that I had ordered, so I had to get a replacement for it. But before I could get the replacement, they asked for pictures of it so they could identify it. Fine. They agreed it wasn't the same sod and and would send a replacement pallet. I decided to order another pallet of the sod as I had a number of bad/dead pieces, and asked they waive the delivery fee for all the hassle I had with the late delivery time and the wrong pallet, so my crew again could not finish the job. And that meant me paying them for another day. Sod Depot agreed to do that. Then, the next day, I decided that I was not sure that I would have enough sod to complete the job, so I called and ordered another pallet. So this meant I had 3 coming... two, I paid for and one replacement pallet, what I did not know was that they charged me for the delivery of the second pallet that I purchased. I was not told that I would be charged for that pallet. This company charges a per pallet delivery fee and since it was only one pallet, I was paying for the delivery fee was $75, which I thought was outrageous. I called to dispute it, I got the owner on the phone. He was extremely rude, has no clue about customer service whatsoever. He wouldn't let me finish a sentence. He was yelling at me, and I finally hung up. He called me back, and said he was having the driver come back and pick up the sod. I thought he was picking up the one pallet that I was disputing paying the delivery fee for, but he actually had the driver take the 2 pallets that I paid for. This is a horrible company that has no customer service. Alex, the owner thinks he's right, no matter what. When I was trying to explain to Alex about the lack of communication with a customer regarding a delivery being so late, he didn't seem to understand that when I called, if the woman I was speaking to in the office, would have said, we had a truck breakdown, I'm sorry, but they're running way behind, I would have understood that, but instead he yells at me, telling me about his trucks breaking down and that it's not my concern. But he clearly does not understand that just communicating with the customer is everything. And that's where all of this fell apart. I was not told that there was going to be a $75 delivery charge for that last pallet of sod that I needed. So to see that charge show up was shocking... especially when I had paid $43.99 per pallet, (much less) for the 14 pallets I had already received. Not a great company!! Terrible sod. It arrived half dead. I felt obligated to accept delivery since I had to pre-pay. I called to complain but got nothing but excuses. I then had to go buy 1/3 of the half pallet to replace the sod that was never going to revive. Compare their sod (brown) to the replacement I purchased (green and healthy) Not to mention having to do this job twice and discarding all the dead sod from Sod Depot. read more

had an amazing experience with this company. was a able to get a full delivery within a week! The people on the phone were extremely helpful and friendly . They called the day before the sod was delivered, and the morning it was delivered to Check in just to make sure we were ready for it . They gave us a time for it to be dropped off between 9:00am- 12:00... It was delivered by 11:50! Overall amazing experience. We were also expecting the sod to be very brown and ugly because that is the way so it usually comes and it was actually very green wet and ready to go.! read more

I ordered 4 pallets of Classic (St Augustine). I was dealing with Anthony at Sod Depot. When it arrived the next day, it was loaded with weeds and was unusable. I called and emailed Anthony the pictures, he assured me he would speak with the owner and get back with me. I received a call back within 15 mins from the owner. He was very apologetic and said he would pick up the original 4 pallets and drop off better looking grass. The following day, he came through with much healthier looking grass. A problem popped up and it was rectified in less than 24 hrs, great customer service from both Anthony and the owner. read more

Ordered two pallets of bahai grass. One pallet was fair. The other was horrible. After first to layers the grass came out in clumps (impossible to pull off a whole piece); it was dry clumps of crap. Contacted company to complain. Crickets! read more

I purchased a pallet of St Augustine sod from Sod Depot and paid for it to be delivered. 2 days later, the pallet was delivered to me. The sod on the top looked good. As we removed the few 6 pieces of the sod , we discovered that the rest of the pallet 95% was dead grass. It looked nothing like the few top pieces of the St Augustine grass they placed at the top of the pallet to mask the remaining dead grass. I contacted the manager of the store and the home office and they said it is dead because of the heat. However, this is the wet season and it has been raining almost daily. Besides, do not sell dead grass to people and scam them of their hard earned money. This is a scam company and should not be in business scamming people. They charged me $268 plus I paid $200.00 for the installation. I wasted $468.00 and I feel like Sod Depot stole it from me. read more

Installed sod was not healthy looking. In one area they merely placed sod down on top of existing turf. I asked them to come back out and they replaced one section. I paid for irrigation system repair. They aimed one head right at my front door which caused $200+ to replace damaged waterlogged lock. Having given my credit card information for deposit only (as per contract), firm charged my credit card for balance of bill w/o authorization. read more

I purchased 3 pallets of Bahia grass from SODDEPOT. It arrived. Did not look very healthy on the pallets. We went ahead and laid it two weeks ago. Now that it has begun to grow, I just realized that it is full of torpedo grass. Torpedo grass is the worst weed you can have. Nothing will kill it. It will destroy your landscaping. I have called them 3 times to work something out. Still waiting for their call. In the mean time, I am digging it up to dispose of it. What a Nightmare. I don't think the sod delivered to my house came from a sod farm. Beware. By the way, the fork lift used by the delivery truck left a streak of oil and gasoline all over the street and my driveway. I got the sod I requested, but it was left in front of our house without giving me the chance to inspect it or provided a receipt or anything. Unfortunately many of the sod tiles had a 50-50% of dry St. Augustine "Floratam" grass, some were partially complete (seemed to have been chewed on when extracted from the field) and the bottom, last 2 layers of sod of each pallet, were riddled with crab grass and another type of grass. I called the office with this claim and the lady on the phone said I was lucky to "only have a few of these tiles with a problem". She said the only way I would get any type of adjustment or replacement was with a pink slip, WHICH WAS NEVER GIVEN TO ME, SINCE I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED WHEN THE GRASS WAS DROPPED. Furthermore, all my transaction was done over the phone, so I never got a receipt, except by my credit card history and since the major problem was with the last layers of each pallet, I was not going to scrape the tiles I had already installed back on the pallets to make a full return. I guess you get what you pay for, including service. My advice, look elsewhere. read more

If you buy sod from them, you MUST visit them the day before your delivery and INSPECT the sod you are going to get. I did not do that and about 50% of almost all the strips were BROWN and the dirt dry. At the very least, inspect on their truck before they take it off. If you do not like it, hopefully they will stick someone else with it and bring you a fresher batch. read more

Very bad looking sod. Not a premium quality. After 30 days several dead spots and weeds. The company will not answer my xalls or respond to my messages. I am going to dispute the last $1200 charge on my cc, then fight them to fix my yard, or probably call another company to fix their work and back charge them from the cc charge back read more

I purchased 2 pallets of sod in March which were very good. In April I ordered 7 more pallets which was delivered April 20th 2021. What a difference!! What was supposed to be fresh cut sod turned out to be old, yellow and brown (dead) sod. I talked to Amy the manager at OBT Sod Depot and she was a complete trainwreck . I tried to tell her that the sod was old, but she insisted that my sod was cut the same day as delivered. I have attached photos, so you be the judge. She had no interest in listening to my complaint,mnever asking for my name or who she was talking with. SHe said brown and yellow is normal!! She categorically refused to help whatsoever advising me to take it up with my credit card company. If this was the last sod company on earth I would not give them another penny. The owner Lu does not return phone calls. They installed a sprinkler system and laid sod. The pumps on the sprinkler system after 5 months do not work and all of the sod they laid is completely full of weeds. As a company, they do not return phone calls. I have called them over 7 times in the past week. All I get is a sorry from the receptionist, and that they are putting the messages on Lu's desk. The worst buying experience ever 2 days ago I purchased 4 pallets of bahia, probably my fault, never saw the sod until I got off from work. The sod was full of weeds, 1 pallet looked like they found it in the trash, lumped together. I advised them the sod was unacceptable and I didn't like it and wanted to exchange it. I was told I was stuck with that awful looking sod, so I chose not to argue but call my credit card company and file a dispute which was approved. These people, "Lou "are not a reputable company.
