Very convenient. I love coming here to do paper work while enjoying a cup of coffee. They have free wifi and parking. They re-did the bathrooms, which is much better now. The inside looks nice, good atmosphere. The outside is still going through remodeling. I usually get their falafel wrap, which comes with a side of salad, very tasty. Great place. Not only do they have several sugarfree options: like sugarfree chia and chocolate they never mind doing odd or difficult orders. Love their mediterranean plate. They are always friendly and helpful. They don't mind groups getting together and playing games there which gives us a place to play. This is probably the best spot to get some work done and enjoy coffee and pastries in Santa Rosa. The WiFi is free and reliable and doesn't require a login, and the atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious. I love that they have a bookshelf of books to choose from as well if you just want to come and read for a bit. Staff are always friendly, and despite the fact that many people (myself included) do come here and stay for a long while, there always seems to be a few seats available. Friendly staff but definitely could use some more assistance. Waited almost 10 minutes for Americano and was missing the coconut milk requested. I'm guessing he just forgot as there were so many orders to place before he got to mine. Espresso tasted burnt but the French Roast drip was decent. Some of the best coffee I've ever had! Their blended cold drinks have a nice balance so you can actually taste the coffee and not just sugar. They have a decent sized parking lot so you won't end up having to park way down the street, and good customer service. You can buy a variety of teas, and they also sell bulk coffee. And they offer a large indoor seating area so you're not stuck with just one or two tiny tables. read more

I have just had a very friendly experience at SoCo Coffee in Santa Rosa. I enjoyed the "cafe" fix with alittle extra,a nice "personal service" feeling and not the cookie-cutter style as from other places.I know they started off slowly here however the people and food service have improved.I also heard they are selling local authors books "soon" after the bookshelves are installed. Customers can purchase writings from self published/ small press local authors,that will also have speaking and signing events at SoCo.The fact is I like to write, so of course I will come to hear authors read from their books making this place a real find for those of you that "get creative" on your laptops (free WiFi) or pen and paper. Meh. It gets an extra boost just for not being Starbucks, but other than that, this place is "good enough." Perhaps my last experience here was spoiled by the fact that the young woman behind the counter tried to teach me what a cappuccino was. I am Italian and have lived in Italy, and I can tell you that you will never receive a cappuccino in a 12-ounce mug. Definitions aside, the coffee was good (again, much better than Starbucks), and the scone was acceptable, although dense and heavy. Few bakers have the skill to make a scone light and airy, as it should be, so perhaps Soco can give its baker something to strive for. On the positive side, the ambiance was quiet and calm, which was good for me, and the free wifi is always a nice touch. read more

This gem of a cafe inside the former Grateful Bagel location is a great addition to the casual dining scene in Santa Rosa. The owners used to run the original Sonoma Coffee Company downtown, so they know what they're doing. In addition to the great beverages, they have tasty lunches featuring middle eastern foods like falafel pitas & Greek salad, and the prices are very modest, portions generous. We also loved the music they play (eclectic world beat) and there's lots of room inside, and easy parking. So don't be put off by the ugly exterior - check them out! Our only complaint, which will in no way keep us from going back, are the disposable dishes and utensils. If you can serve coffee in a real cup, why not offer real forks and plates? read more

There is something very odd happening at Yelp; suddenly all of the reviews that support the reality of this coffee shop disappear. The word "filtered" appears. I have coffee at this "best in Santa Rosa" every day. Clearly those who are off-put by the exterior represent a problem for the owner, but unfortunately he only leases the space. The bones of the spot have potential inasmuch as it is a classic Larry Simons design. The landlord may some day improve things. The interior space is just fine. Always clean and sparkling. Let me confirm: the coffee is the best in Sonoma County, the fare is home-made and delicious, the staff cheerful, quick and kind. What could be better than that? The owner has many years experience in coffee and tea--from San Francisco to Santa Rosa. Definitely the place to go for coffee, tea lunch, breakfast or a snack.. read more

I used to be a daily Starbucks consumer. I recently moved down the street from Soco Coffee and it is now my morning stop before work. I was hesitant to try a new place because I like my coffee tasting very specific. Soco Coffee has blown me out of the water. Not only is my order ALWAYS right, they have it ready within minutes. I no longer have to wait 15 mins for my coffee (which is an issue when trying to get to work on time). I also appreciate Bethany who always greats me with a smile and remembers me. I come here often as it's close to home. The owner is there every day and the staff are friendly. The wireless access is easy and fast. I choose to Stay Local/Shop Local and the location is perfect: two blocks from downtown and the local business center. And I feel good supporting local, independent entrepreneurs. I used to go to the location on Administration Dr almost everyday. Britney helped me every time I went for about 2 months. She remembered my name and made my drink perfectly which made my experience that much better. They eventually hired a young man to make the drinks and he seemed nice until my last experience at this location. I told Britney as she took my order to make it extra hot because since the young man started my drink has been cold by the time I arrive back at my desk. She apologized and I waited for my drink. It was ready and I grabbed my drink and went on my way. On my way out the door I heard Britney ask the young man if he made sure it was extra hot and I guess he didn't realize I wasn't out the door yet because he replied saying "F*** no I'm a real barista, I don't burn milk, people are stupid." I was so upset and honestly will not be going back in there until he is gone. Good coffee (when hot) but not worth being called stupid for not liking Luke warm coffee. read more

Soco is a truly independent cafe with a lot of personality, very friendly service, and something for everyone. The food and drinks are exceptionally high quality, with the usual array of baked goods, hot and cold drinks, but also offering less common items such as gluten and/or sugar free foods, as well as freshly prepared salads and middle eastern savory treats. There are chess games, literature circles, local authors, art by local artists. Soco offers a unique environment to be alone, to gather with a small or large group, to study, or just ponder life. There is outdoor seating for those who prefer to be outside. The owners are so accommodating they order extra croissants when they know I am bringing a class of French students to experience 'cafe culture' . One of the cashiers, Heidi, is so kind that she donated a couple of dollars from her own tips to help one of my students have enough money to buy a croissant. I have to say glad to see a coffee shop open on this side of town. Great local family owns it and had to do a major renovation from the fire of Cafe de Croissants. I have had the frozen cafe mocha there quite a few times and say it is the best. They do have some sandwiches and pastries there...looks overall a good selection. They get most of the all the products all locally and the crumb coffee cake is the bomb! They have outdoor seating and great place to walk to if you bring your dog and then walk around McDonald neighborhood or JC neighborhood. As far as coffee drinks they are fully stocked with different coffees and pastries. They have parking which is great and free wi-fi. They keep adding to the business which is great with more covered seating and making it more comfortable. Highly recommend it....and many of locals probably know him who use to own Sonoma Coffee on 4th street for about 20 years. Glad to see him back in coffee business and very friendly staff. Just ordered a latte and a cup of hot water with lemon. SoCo ( Sonoma Coffee Company) charged me .50 for a lemon slice and a $1.00 for hot water. They charged for hot water! I'd understand paying for the cost of a paper cup, but we were getting it in a real cup to drink here. Also I might even understand charging for water if we had just walked in & ordered water, but this is ridiculous. I got a latte too. When I respectfully challenged the barista, she just dug in her heels. I guess they do a good enough business so they don't care what they charge, or keeping valued customers. This use to be our favorite coffee shop. Won't be back & will spread the word to all the people We've introduced to this place. read more

I have recently become a "regular" at SOCO, i Have found the coffee excellent the atmosphere inviting and the owner always cheerful, helpful and generous with his customers. The tea selection is perhaps the most diversified in Sonoma County and the selection of foods are quite wonderful and attractively priced. The Mediterranean plate is amazing, my highest recommendation. Aside from the great coffee and food available it has a social focus on local writers and the chess playing community. Forget Starbucks and go to SOCO. read more

It just opened went there and was presently surprised. I had been to the Cafe de Croissants that was there before and it was terrible when I came here was a surprise. The decor is great, upscale, and chic. They do coffee and pastries and that's it but they do it right. I am glad to have a coffee shop in that building again. I went in to order my usual, Kenya pour over (my absolute fave) but the man behind the counter did not allow it. Moments later, another man came in (who I assume knows the man behind the counter) and ordered a Kenya Pour over, of which the sales person obliged to. Sounds like favoritism to me. Now, I don't know much about the difficulties in heating up a cup of joe, but I would assume that this man is being paid by the hour and would have no issue making the cup of my dreams. I have been a frequent customer, and I have seen this man every time I've been in, though he doesn't usually do much, I am happy to say that the women working there are pleasant and friendly. I think I'll be spending my money at Starbucks, not because I love them, but because this guy behind the counter ruined the Ma and Pa for me. He's that bad. read more

Best coffee drinks in the area! The "Black Forest" is my new favorite--mocha with a splash of dark cherry syrup. Absolutely delicious! The shop's atmosphere is welcoming, friendly and laid back. I have NEVER been disappointed by either the service or the beverages and can't understand the few negative reviews on Yelp. My only disappointment is that SoCo isn't open on Sundays, but hey, the owner and staff deserve the day off. I hope this shop keeps going strong for years to come. read more
