Just called the Brea location today to discuss my permanent disability claim and why it was declined. A very unpleasant woman took my call and said that I could reapply on line! I have a pile of paperwork three inches high! I talked in person to a Brian Anderson on several occasions about the case and he was going to handle it. Every time I've called and attempted to set up an appointment, the guard dogs on their end thwarted me and when I'd leave voice-mail for Anderson, I never got a response. Today that woman said to REAPPLY on line! Say what?? What about those poor SOBs that don't have the net? I guess they just fall between the cracks! What the hell do they pay these clowns for?? This female wouldn't even divulge her name! If you should call there between 10 and 11 AM, you'll probably get her! GOOD LUCK, you'll need it! If it were possible to post "0" stars I would! I walked in at 10:20am on a Tuesday to a full house and grumbled at the other yelpers. In and out in 30 minutes? Yeah right. Why do you lie to me??? Oh how I was wrong. Without an appointment I was in and out in 40 minutes. It looks like there's only 2 staff working in front but they have a huge room in the back with maybe 10 more workers. Came here at 3:45 on a Tuesday to get a new card. according to yelp, they close at 3. but i checked the website and even called to verify that they closed at 4. *update.. i changed the hours as they appear on yelp* Walked in, was greeted by a security guard. Nice, I've been to a few other offices, Pomona + Alhambra, where the guards are not so nice. He greeted me and showed me where to sign in on the kiosk. I waited for about 5 minutes and was called to a window. I was done within 15 minutes! The man who helped me (wish i knew his name) was friendly and helpful! Everyone here that i encountered was friendly and helpful. No complaints at all about this location. read more

Impressed! We figured we would make an appointment over the phone, so called the standard number. After staying on hold at least 20 minutes ("next available wait time" when calling the standard number to make an appointment, stuff), we decided to just take our chances and head on down, the office was maybe 5 miles from our home. Pulled in, found a convenient spot to park, still ample space out front and this was 11:30 Friday morning. Went in, figured out the sign-in Kiosk (wait until a confirmation beep after EACH separate digit entry of your SSN), we got our number and waited. Our wait time was maybe 15 minutes, in spite of how many folks were there when we entered. Our number came up, we went to the assigned agent, she was EXTREMELY helpful. We had a situation where online registration for my husband's "My Social Security" account could not be completed at home, so she took us in hand and, after we explained all the details, got it taken care of! We were jazzed, my husband's account was created and confirmed! That is why we went, and that is what we accomplished. I have no issues coming here and waiting to do more business. The office is clean, the agents are cheerful, smiling, pleasant and ready to help, it really did make our day to have this done!! Thank you Brea SSA!! read more

I would like to express my dismay by how I was assisted by a Hispanic lady here. Her name is "Campos". She greeted me very rudely looked very irritated and eager for me to just get out that's how I felt. after I was done she went on break maybe that's why I was treated that way. I have questions which she did not entertain and care to answer. Her tone sounded irritated. She also didn't even bother to ask how are you and how May I help you. She just looked at my filled application and started typing no words to care and ask and talk to me. Whenever I tried to ask She just repeatedly said your new card will be mailed to you in 10 days. "Again your new card will be mailed to you in 10 days". Very impolite I felt super disrespected when I tried to just get some clarifications. I felt offended while she was working on my case she talked in Hispanic with a co-worker. She doesn't want to answer my questions but talked with a co-worker while attending to me. The workers/employees are not any better. Most social workers aren't the nicest people to have an encounter with. Very easy to find once you drive into the parking lot. I walked in, without an appointment, around 1:30 on a Tuesday, to submit a form for a new SS card. I checked in on the kiosk that was immediately to my left and a number on a piece of paper popped out. I walked over to the waiting area and as soon as I sat down my number was called! Hooray. There were other people waiting but I'm assuming they had to wait longer for more time consuming services. I spoke with a nice young lady and gave her all my paperwork and was out of the office in less than 10 minutes. I was there on Tuesday morning hoping to be done within 10-15 minutes like what the other yelp reviewers have posted. Unfortunately it is not the case here. Beware of the long line of about 45 minutes outside the building to get the number and a long wait time over an hour after i get my number until they help me. Please disregard other positive comment that said it is a short time. This place has been packed due to all the positive reviews on yelp about the short wait time. Everyone from different cities have been coming here now. Expect about 2 hourish total time of being there. On the positive side the security guard is very nice and helpful. Once I get called it is pretty quick. I have my form ready and have all that they required for me to have with me. I think the duration of service will depend on what you are there for. read more

I've been to this office four or five times, and am pleased with their wait time. Get there before the doors open, and you'll probably only be there a half an hour. However, when I needed to know exactly what I qualified for as my monthly amount, I have received disturbingly different answers, one that told me I'd need to work 2 years beyond the time I was counting on! It gets crowded with long waits (30 minutes) during the late morning hours, but the workers are nice even the security guard. Also, the restrooms use keys so you have to borrow them from the security guard's desk. read more

My hats off to the Brea Social Security office. I've been there 5 or 6 times during the last year. By luck I was always called to window 2 ( Ms. Campos). I can't say enough good about her. She is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. When she says she is going do something, she does it including calling me back after my visit to inform me of the status of our claim and what is going on with our issues. She has always gone up and beyond her call of duty leaving me with a smile as I was leaving the Brea SSI Office. I hope that her superiors see this post because if there ever was anyone that deserves the Employee of the Year award it should absolutely be her. This is the second time in my lifetime where I visit this place and have the worst experience ever. Once in 2008 when I wanted to get a change of status social security card, and now in 2017 to get my wife a social security after having had her EAD approved. As soon as I showed the representative on Window 2 (the first as you enter) my wife's passport, she said oh you're Lebanese. I said yes. She immediately said that I cannot apply for card because I live in Orange not in Brea. She also said my wife has to wait ten more days before she applies. Off course this turned all wrong. An hour later I went to Santa Ana office and all her claims were wrong. This lady was so rude. When I asked her where did her info come from, she said that she's been working there for 25 years in a very rude way. Anyways I got my service done in another office the same day.
