I was trapped more than an hour inside four steel walls. I went into panic mode and felt claustrophobic, like I could not breathe. I almost kicked the walls. I calmed myself, but I was close to losing it if they had not shown up. I will not be using those elevators. The in-car emergency line appeared to connect overseas, possibly the Philippines. I had to call about nine times. The first calls were hung up on me. The last operator only stayed on the line after the firefighters had already opened the door. Firefighter Eric pried the door open and reached in so I could get out. His partner worked from on top of the elevator. Please thank the driver and the whole crew. Eric asked if I wanted to be checked out; I said no and went outside for air, then yelled thank you when I saw the truck. You are my heroes forever. Without you I do not know how long I would have been in there. They were calm and they got me out. I wanted to drop off pizza or sandwiches as a thank-you but I was not sure where to leave food at the station. I am also going to start donating to the Orange County Fire Authority Foundation, the California 501(c)(3). Five stars. I wish I had photos to post!

Upon entrance to our home, I immediately felt much more at ease with the situation. They were able to get my wife back up on her feet and assessed her concerns/needs. The people who live, work and visit Foothill Ranch, CA are fortunate to have individuals of this caliber in the OCFA. A sincere, heartfelt Thank You!

I was very disappointed by the interaction shown involving Orange County Fire Station 54. A member…read moreof the public came to the station on 9/11 with flowers and words of appreciation for first responders. He clearly explained that he was not experiencing an emergency and was simply there to express his gratitude. While one member of the station appeared welcoming and appreciative, the response from the other individual was unnecessarily dismissive. Telling someone that this is a "place of business" and that they need to leave when they are peacefully attempting to thank first responders came across as extremely unprofessional and contrary to the relationship a public safety agency should maintain with its community. I completely understand that a fire station is an active workplace and there may be policies regarding visitors. However, those boundaries can be communicated with basic courtesy and professionalism. A simple "Thank you, we appreciate the gesture, but unfortunately we can't have visitors inside right now" would have accomplished the exact same thing without disrespecting someone who came there with good intentions. I sincerely hope the department reviews this interaction and that some form of accountability or corrective action is taken. That does not necessarily mean severe discipline, but this should not simply be ignored. At minimum, the employee involved should be reminded of the standard of professionalism expected when interacting with members of the public and given appropriate guidance or training. On September 11th of all days, someone taking time to personally thank first responders and bring flowers should not have walked away feeling unwelcome or disrespected. The public deserves professionalism, and the many firefighters who represent their departments with compassion and integrity deserve to have that standard upheld as well.

I turned down any medical checkup at the scene but the bill says I was checked. Called multiple times but was told that the firefighters recorded my blood pressure in the report and therefore I was checked. I don't know how and why, the only explanation seems to be that the firefighters put down something without actually doing it. They also refused to adjust the bill at all and said will send my bill to collection if I don't pay. They run this like a for profit business despite of all the taxes we pay

I was having a reaction to prescribed medication after brain surgery causing extreme anxiety (never happened before in my life). By the time they'd arrived I was already calmed down, but they took me to the hospital - which released me out in the cold at 2AM saying I was fine. I had to summons an Uber to get home - $12. When the bill came for $2,500 I almost died. What a scam. My insurance company agreed and told me absolutely NOT TO PAY. The insurance company had already paid them the previously agreed fair amount for their service. Another bill came today. I'm showing it to my attorney and going to discuss harassment charges. I think the mayor is already in prison. They need to come back and pick up a few more crooks.
