Truck 28 rescued me from a stuck P2 (parking level 2) elevator aon September 27, 2026. It was a Sunday. The elevator was not working. The car stopped halfway above the floor. I was trapped more than an hour inside four steel walls. I went into panic mode and felt claustrophobic, like I could not breathe. I almost kicked the walls. I calmed myself, but I was close to losing it if they had not shown up. I will not be using those elevators.
The in-car emergency line appeared to connect overseas, possibly the Philippines. I had to call about nine times. The first calls were hung up on me. The last operator only stayed on the line after the firefighters had already opened the door.
Firefighter Eric pried the door open and reached in so I could get out. His partner worked from on top of the elevator. Please thank the driver and the whole crew. Eric asked if I wanted to be checked out; I said no and went outside for air, then yelled thank you when I saw the truck. You are my heroes forever. Without you I do not know how long I would have been in there. They were calm and they got me out.
I wanted to drop off pizza or sandwiches as a thank-you but I was not sure where to leave food at the station. I am also going to start donating to the Orange County Fire Authority Foundation, the California 501(c)(3). Five stars. I wish I had photos to post! read more
