They were very conscious about social distancing and prevention of the spread of COVID 19 so I felt very safe shopping there. Prices are competitive and the only slight neg I can point out is that their inventory goes fast and no fault of their own. Shipping has slowed down considerably due to COVID. Would go back there again for all my badminton needs.

My friends and I arrived without knowing it was by appointment only. Tony was super kind and patient and still allowed us in. We needed 3 racquets, 2 pairs of shoes, 4 regrips and 2 stringings. When we came, it was PACKED, but my man TONY made sure we were safe and followed COVID protocol while we were browsing through his clearance section, which I think was pretty much the entire store (Tony only gives his customers the HOTTEST deals). Oh, you wanna talk about service? Imagine having 10 people in one store, and taking care of each of them simultaneously and without mistakes while STILL being patient and ensuring we leave with the best gear that suits our playstyle. That's Tony for ya. Nothing but the best. I'm pretty sure he'd sit down with me and help me with my calculus homework if I asked. My favourite part about my experience at this store has to be how much passion I felt from Tony and his team in their work. He carefully and sternly walked us through maintenance and care of our racquets and shoes, making me respect the sport even more. "Don't be lazy!" Tony says. "Put the head of the racquet in first, THEN the tail. DON'T BE LAZY!" My friends and I left with a rekindled excitement for badminton, beautiful memories, and a mantra we'll keep for the rest of our lives. We'll never be lazy, Tony. Never.

More talking, more talking, 6 ads ranging from Spence Diamonds to Save On Foods, a traffic report, then the DJ talking about what she did on the weekend, then a song. THEY HAD A RADIO STATION on speakerphone for the store. I was so annoyed by this I asked for the manager. The owner came out. I asked him whose decision it was to play a radio station overhead and he said it was his decision. I replied "this 2025, there are streaming services for this. When I go out shopping I don't do so to he held hostage by a radio station. I had to sit through 6 ads". He puffed his chest out and said that his customers love it and he wanted to support a Canadian radio station. I told him that people will hate it, but they won't say anything to let him know, and as long as he continues to blare a radio station overhead, I won't set foot back here. He replied he has lots of customers and I'm welcome to shop elsewhere . So I did. I spent close to 2k at the Steveston Hwy one

They have an automotive department which is great, but not the best price for some of its service. The store is a decent size and all of the merchandise is easy to find and laid out nicely. They have sports equipment to gardening, kids toys to holiday items. They also carry kitchen housewares. This place has definitely expanded from just carrying car accessories and home renovation tools. A bonus is the sale! When there's a good sale, some of the items are cheaper than even Walmart.

I came in on a college budget hoping to pick up a used soccer ball or tennis racket to help emerge from winter hibernation and be outdoors, but the selection and prices made it so I got both! Consigners set the initial prices and get 50% back, so it's luck of the draw as to whether you'll get a good deal. Got a Dunlop racket ($33) that works like a charm, and the used tennis balls ($0.50/ea) are really worth it if you don't mind a Sharpie'd "T" on it. The soccer ball, I made the mistake of buying a lower-end Tektonik ($17) one. BIG mistake. After one use, it began cracking apart massively -- likely an issue of the ball being stale and/or overinflated. Although this is mostly the fault of a bad consigner, I was disappointed that I couldn't get anything back for it after I called and warned them about the other two they had on their shelf. Part of me is kicking myself that I didn't go for the nicer, likely better-maintained $22 Puma ball on the rack -- ended up dishing out another $25 for a new one at SoccerWest anyways. But I'm wondering whether I should sell my new ball to them when I myself have to head out of town, or whether I should go through the effort of selling it on Craigslist/Marketplace to give someone (and probably myself) peace of mind. TLDR: Know what items to buy used, and which are buyer-beware. Quality control can only go so far.

A good place for off-season, unadvertised, discontinued equipment / bike, etc. But he service staff are questionable. Immature dudes chatting in the back, while the sales person writes up my service order. Aren't they supposed to be working? Here's the bigger-butt. When I came by to pick, it was not ready when promised. On top of that a mechanic signed-off on it as being completed. It was not touched! I made a stink about it, being way before the peak season, the manager did the right thing - gave me an extra discount off the already discount. And there's more... I dropped by 3 months later for the "free adjustments" (for 1 year). No service person there. Took the bike to the W Broadway location who did the job the same day I brought it there, done by profession mechanics. It's location, location, location?

The "sporty" clothes were severely outdated and the layout of the store was much like the Aberdeen Centre at the time - a work in progress. Fast forward a few years, Aberdeen is now thriving and seems to be complete - which includes Impulse, which looks like it has gone through a semi-make over itself. The store is more of a "wide open spaces" layout and has began selling brands that are sporty and functional. Northface is still way too expensive here and the Columbia wear needs some variety. There was some interesting shirts and jackets from Puma but a lacking Nike inventory. Service was virtually non-existent - most of the employees were huddled up and giggling while people aimlessly roamed the store. One thing I do appreciate about Impulse is they do repairs for snowboarding equipment and they have a machine in the back for restringing tennis rackets. The fees / repair prices on their charge don't seem bad. If I never end up buying anything form here (which is likely), I at least have a place to to fix my gear.
