Customer service knows their stuff and doesn't push you to buy what you don't need or upscale you to buy mor expensive. When we came, it was PACKED, but my man TONY made sure we were safe and followed COVID protocol while we were browsing through his clearance section, which I think was pretty much the entire store (Tony only gives his customers the HOTTEST deals). Oh, you wanna talk about service? Imagine having 10 people in one store, and taking care of each of them simultaneously and without mistakes while STILL being patient and ensuring we leave with the best gear that suits our playstyle. That's Tony for ya. Nothing but the best. I'm pretty sure he'd sit down with me and help me with my calculus homework if I asked. My favourite part about my experience at this store has to be how much passion I felt from Tony and his team in their work. I rode down…read moreto French creek and took the passenger ferry to Lasqueti island which was fun in its own right ( about a 20 min ride from parksdale to the French creek marina). The ride around Lasqueti is very pleasant with a couple of beaches to stop at and relatively car free hilly dirt roads . There is a hotel /pub at fakes bay where the ferry lands You need a mountain bike or a hybrid or gravel bike with 32 mm plus tires . Suspension is useful for the sweeping corners that are gravel covered with washboard in some spots. I called Greg at Oceanside outfitters about one minute after closing to try and get a bike for the 9:45 ferry the next day. Greg kindly offered to open the store at 8:30 the next morning and I made the ferry with no problem. He also let me drop the bike off after shop closing time , at his beach rental spot. A really nice guy and I appreciate the above and beyond service and the great bike as well. Stefan

Consigners set the initial prices and get 50% back, so it's luck of the draw as to whether you'll get a good deal. Got a Dunlop racket ($33) that works like a charm, and the used tennis balls ($0.50/ea) are really worth it if you don't mind a Sharpie'd "T" on it. The soccer ball, I made the mistake of buying a lower-end Tektonik ($17) one. BIG mistake. After one use, it began cracking apart massively -- likely an issue of the ball being stale and/or overinflated. Although this is mostly the fault of a bad consigner, I was disappointed that I couldn't get anything back for it after I called and warned them about the other two they had on their shelf. Part of me is kicking myself that I didn't go for the nicer, likely better-maintained $22 Puma ball on the rack -- ended up dishing out another $25 for a new one at SoccerWest anyways. But I'm wondering whether I should sell my new ball to them when I myself have to head out of town, or whether I should go through the effort of selling it on Craigslist/Marketplace to give someone (and probably myself) peace of mind. TLDR: Know what items to buy used, and which are buyer-beware. Quality control can only go so far.

I found a really nice set of buoyant glass floats for only $12.95 (found the same one online for $40)! Went back a few times to this store to pick up more items to bring back to friends. Their prices are lower than most souvenir shops and the couple who manages the store are locals who are friendly and very helpful. They did not hesitate to recommend points of interests and restaurants to try. They like tourists!

This store is a life saver!…read more We are contractors and had a job on Orcas Island. We had never been to Orcas before and were unfamiliar with the area. Before we set out for the island, I looked up local hardware stores (just in case). I found Island Hardware & Supply, called them to make sure they would have what we MIGHT need, hopped in the truck and got on the ferry. OF COURSE it turned out that we DID need some items, so we set off for the Hardware store. We got lost and ended up at the little hardware store in East Sound - we thought we were at the right store, but they didn't have any of the supplies we needed. We were pretty confused until I found out from a local resident that the little hardware store in East Sound is on North Beach Road, and the big hardware store (Island Hardware) is on West Beach Road. So we hopped back in the truck again, and set out to find Island Hardware. (yes, we got losat again...but eventually figured it out) We were so relieved when we located the store and were able to purchase the supplies we needed, because we were thinking that we would have to get on the ferry and drive to the home depot in Mt Vernon (that would have taken forever). Island Hardware had all the stuff we wanted, lumber, tools, big bolts, lag screws, plumbing supplies etc. They even have a couple of little gas pumps which was handy for us. We had the occassion to go back up to Orcas for round two of the job which was exterior painting. The paint we purchased needed to be re-tinted at the last minute. We remembered that Island Hardware had a paint department and took the buckets of paint to them with our fingers crossed. Even though we didn't buy the paint from them, they happily re-tinted it for us...I thought that was pretty generous and excellent customer service!
