I contacted David for a quote to replace all of the upholstery inside of a 2006 Yamaha SX230 HO boat. David quoted me a great price and gave me several ideas. I ended up buying the boat and a week or two later took him the boat. He said he would have it done by 4th of July and he delivered. Not only was he on time but the boat seats turned out better than the factory seats!!! The quality is top notch. I highly recommend this place. Looking to Reupholster my 2004 Yamaha AR230 Jet Boat, after searching and receiving several quotes, I opted to use SoCal Upholstery in Montclair/Pomona area. My requirements for re-upholstering my boat were, quality materials, local shop, competive pricing, quality work, service and help with selecting a design. I contacted an independent contractor who quoted me $1900 to perform the work out of his home, not much explanation of materials demanded half up front. Next I contacted Rauls Auto trim in Ontario, owner was a bit short over the phone quoted $3500 if I removed the seats and brought them to his shop or $4000 if he did the work himself did not take time to explain anything else. Next I went to Chino Upholstery, owner was attentive explained the materials he would be working with, he asked about the quotes I received and was convinced no one can do a quality job for less than $3200. I also contacted a reputable company in the industry Martinez Upholstery in Corona Ca. The owner quoted $2700 - $3000 helpfully explained the materials he would be using, he would also help with personalizing my interior at the $3000 price point. Finally, I met it up with owner David SoCal Upholstery in Montclair. I arrived at his shop to be honest it is on a run down lot; several businesses share the lot they look more like storages, looked very sketchy. He explained over the phone that the business share a lot and wanted to make sure I had insurance just in case their were issues. He also explained no one has ever had any issues but wanted me to be aware. David spent over an hour explaining his reupholstery process, including threading selection/application, vinyl selection/aplication, vinyl maintenance, vinyl colors, staple application/selection, foam and labor. Finally, came the quote $2200 for parts and labor to complete the entire boat. I agreed on the price, David then helped me select colors for the design I brought from pictures on an online website. I forwarded him the pics and said there would be no problem matching up the design. I dropped my boat off that day so he could remove my seats, David called me 3 hours later letting me know I could pick the boat up since I preferred to leave my boat at home while the seats were completed. He gave me a completion date of February 21, David and his partner completed the job by February 7 way ahead of schedule. My boat looked exactly like the design pics I sent, my friends and family gave me lots of compliments. I recommend SoCal Upholstery because they met my needs: David was very attentive communicated with me through out the entire process. He is the type of person who answers his phone when you call and follows up with any questions very quickly. He used quality materials and assured me I can contact him if I have any issues. The quality came out good, I will post a follow up after a year to verify materials had no issues. I enjoy helping local small businesses helps the community and you usually get more personalized service. Finally, the price met my budget and quality demands, I did not want to overspend people mention marine application suddenly prices sky rocket, not the case here. TL;DR Owner David is low on integrity, will avoid you, and can not be relied on. Advise, finding an alternative shop. Originally spoke with Sylvester. Great guy, answered questions, let me know about the turn around and that materials and job can be done in less then a week. When I took my car in, spoke with the owner David. He pretty much told me the same thing. I was going to bring a deposit when we spoke on the phone and he let me know that he didn't need a deposit to find materials locally. After some phone calls, David let me know that he couldn't get to it for a week. I followed up with another call and then it was, call me next week. Then David avoided my calls when my number popped up on caller ID. This was confirmed when I called from another number and he answered. He admitted to dodging my call and let me know that he looked for material locally but couldn't find any thing that matched...(brown vinyl with my instructs that anything close would be fine). He said that he couldn't get out to LA for materials for at least a week. Apparently his shop had become so busy, my job didn't matter. He said that he needed a deposit which I was happy to provide but that he couldn't re upholster my two seats for three weeks maybe four. Not consistent with what he or his employees originally said. Became unreliable and all I wanted to do was give him money and my business. I recommend going some where else even if it means spending more. Can't comment on there work based on my own experience but what was in the shop looked okay. They do a lot of restaurants. Beaches are easy so I don't know if the are any good at vehicles with compound curves. Can't recommend especially if you want something done and value your time. read more

Had our ski nautique re upholstered here. Customer service is awesome. First place that said not to waste my money on certain items and gave money saving alternatives. Perfection with work and totally satisfied. Will definitely use this place for all upholstery needs in the future. So I called several upholstery shops to redo our boat and from the moment I called SoCal and talked with David I knew I needed to go with this company! SoCal is an hour away from where I live but I didn't care. He spent so much time talking and explaining everything. From the time I dropped my boat off he stayed in contact with me with every detail. I have a great wing back chair that was desperately in need of a make-over, the fabric on the arms was ripped and there were spots with sun damage due to its place by the window. We looked high and low throughout the inland empire trying to find someone reupholster it, and while we found upholstery shops, they wanted more to reupholster the chair that it would have cost to simply buy a new one. Finally, we found SoCal Upholstery on craigslist. He gave us a very decent quote. My husband took the chair to him, was told it would take 2-3 weeks to completion as foam needed to be ordered to remake the cushion. Only 1.5 weeks later we were told the chair was ready to be picked up. My husband picked up the chair and it looks like brand new. I will definitely take any and all future furniture in need of a face lift here. read more
