It appears Buck, the owner, is someone who people either love or have mixed opinions about. Wanting to form my own opinion, I decided to give the shop a call. After just two rings, Buck answered the phone. I explained my issue, and he quickly suggested that I email or text pictures so he could determine if any new parts would be necessary. He also recommended that I stop by for a quick inspection to avoid ordering unnecessary parts. I showed up the next day, 15 minutes earlier than scheduled, and Buck was already there waiting for me. He performed what he called a 'quick review,' but I'd describe it as a thorough inspection. He even took the bike for a quick drive and, afterward, gave me the good news: only the parts he had mentioned were needed. My bike needed a busted hose replaced. Buck fixed it up no problem. In addition, he he went through the bike to make sure nothing else was an issue. While doing the service, he adjusted the clutch, throttle, and brake cables, along with the belt. Fucking bike runs smoother than brand new!!! read more

Buck is AMAZING! If you're looking for a great, honest mechanic, he's the guy! I took my Ninja 300 to him to have it lowered and get the rear tire changed. The difference it makes is fantastic. It's 10x lighter and turns are smooth. Every question I had, Buck answered it. He is very knowledgeable. I've learn more from him about bikes and riding than I do watching YouTube videos. Also, I got my motorcycle permit and was looking for someone to teach me how to ride and Buck was very patient, understanding, and gave me great pointers on how to be a better/safer rider. I recently met with Buck from Socal Motorcycle Services to rent a bike for my dmv test. I first met with him to practice the night before (which I highly recommend) at the Chula Vista dmv. Then again the next day at the new San Ysidro dmv for the actual test. Whether you're new to riding or been riding for years, Buck's bike is literally designed for the dmv test and once you practice the circle and the slow ride a few times you'll come to the same conclusion. The average size harley is way too big to take this test with in my opinion. The bulk of my riding experience is from riding dirt bikes at the desert but with a few pointers from Buck and the right bike, I was able to pass the skills test on my first try. This very small repair shop is located in an industrial park and was not easy to see while riding through. When I found the shop all the doors were closed and my bike was the only one in the area so my first thought was that they were either closed for the day or had gone out of business. A man saw me looking at the shop and came out to talk to me, and he was extremely rude to me. He made no effort to try to earn my business, he seemed happy to have me get upset and leave. There is no way that I'm going to be treated in that way and give them my money to do so. It is no wonder that he had no customers. ZERO stars if that was an option. read more

Good prices, excellent mechanic. I'm a fairly novice rider and Buck was more than happy to answer any questions I had regarding my bike.

Once again, Buck did not let me down. He was able to fix all my repairs in a day! And for $300 I got my breaks fixed (breaking pads, new breaking fluid and unit) brand new tires, fixed a broken current that was responsible for the speedometer and milage, an oil change, and he switched my right mirror over to the left side, because the left mirror broke off and by law I need one on that side. My bike works great! I actually went faster than I have ever on the scooter the other day, and it works wonderfully. In a previous post I mentioned that I had a hard time finding someone reliable to fix my scooter. The dealership was a sham, and other mechanics told me to junk it, and didn't put the engine in correctly. Buck is a wonderful person and excellent mechanic. He tells you lots of information and is completely transparent about every step of the service process. His prices are excellent and he is very thorough. I brought in my 2002 Honda reflex 250 maxi-scooter, after being turned down by 3 mechanics and ignored by others. It is an old scooter and difficult to work on. It had multiple problems, all of which were diagnosed and fixed promptly. Being that I make a living delivering food on this bike, it was very important to me that it works well and I feel very satisfied after having brought it in to Buck. He also bought me a tire, brakes and changed my fluids. He had to take almost all of the body panels off to do this work and his labor prices were amazing! He gave me a discount being that I am lower income and make a living riding. I would recommend him to anybody. Also his little dog is super cute! read more

I am so happy that I found Buck! I own a 2007 Honda Sabre 1100cc. Over the years I have taken my bike to Motoworld and Fun Bike Center, both places demonstrated quality work but I always had the feeling that I was getting somewhat ripped off. Over the past year or so my bike has been acting up, been a real pain. Simply conking out on me when it was warm, just every so often. It would leave me stranded for 20 minutes before it would finally start again (or I would have AAA come get me). I was ripping my hair out trying to diagnose the problem, I tried everything I could think of including searching the internet forums for a cure. Now, I'm not a wealthy guy and really did not want to spend any real money on this bike. Finally, after a year of frustration I went in search of a motorcycle mechanic. I searched on Yelp and found SoCal motorcycles not far from where I live. I read the reviews and thought I would give this place a try. I could not be any happier. Buck is extremely personable and I trusted him from the get go. I showed up unannounced at his shop and he stopped what he was doing and helped me right away. I had my motorcycle towed to his shop and Buck got to work on it. Under normal circumstances and my past experience with motorcycle shops, they never stick to price or time commitments. Buck called me explained what the problem was (sometimes faulty fuel pump) and gave me a number of options to get this repaired within a reasonable budget. I can honestly say I could not be happier. My bike is now running better than it has in years and Buck kept in constant contact with me during the repair time. He even done some additional fixes for me that I have tried to do myself in the past but have been unsuccessful. I use Yelp but never write a review but on this occasion I felt compelled to write this review.
