This is my go-to restaurant when I am craving Korean comfort food in Kelowna. They have amazing bibimbaps-- they're loaded with fresh veggies, topped with sprouts and the bulgogi is usually very juicy and tender. I do wish they would put a little more meat, especially considering that their bibimbaps are a little pricier than at most Korean restaurants. I've also tried their kimbaps, they are fresh and super yummy! Also much pricier than usual, but they seem like they're bigger than most kimbaps. I've ordered their tteokbokki, and it wasn't as spicy as I had expected it to be. It seemed like there wasn't enough of the spicy pepper paste (gochujang) to give it that kick and flavour. I absolutely adore tteokbokki, and I was little sad that it did not meet my expectations. Overall, this place has some great Korean comfort foods, consistent service and a lot of selection (I will definitely try their Korean tacos soon!). Pricier than most Korean restaurants but totally worth a try! read more

I did takeout here on a recommendation from a friend, and this place did not disappoint. It is rare to find tacos at a Korean place since it is not Korean food but this place did the tacos well. We also ordered the potato noodles and the portions for this dish is reasonable. Overall, this place is great and I would definitely come back here again for tacos. read more

This place has a lot of rave reviews and I believe it's for the tacos. I came here with great expectations but ended up with bad pork belly. To be fair, I do hear they are known for their fusion and tacos and they're not popular for the pork belly it seems. My brother ordered the ramen, typically Korean student food consumed near campuses in South Korea. The noodles are instant ramen. Don't be offended, that's how it's made. In case you were trying to make a comparison to Japanese ramen shops that are popular these days. I'd give the ramen 3.5 out of 5 and was pretty decent. I won't vote on the port belly dish but they did serve bad meat. It tasted off and stoopid me I kept eating it thinking it was some special pork, but at the same time wondering why it smelled bad and tasted bad. I'm writing this with hopes they will double check their meats in the future and contact me to let me know it's been fixed. Aside from that, I hope it's all good. It's clean, decent service. I just hope their quality control on a dish that isn't likely served as often is better in the future. The rest of the dishes were good. So I'm giving it a generous 2.5 stars. Sorry. I have never had Korean food in Kelowna, so I was definitely pleasantly surprised when my friends recommended this place! I am a fan of budijigae (army stew: cheese, pork, sausages, kimchi and more). I was slightly disappointed with their lack of flavour however, they did make it up with their beef style tacos and kimchi fried rice. I love that they fuse Mexican food in their menu. The kimchi fried rice is my favourite! The add spicy mayo and sesame seeds in it. It's definitely a must have! Tacos were unique but I prefer the Mexican tacos more! read more

We came here twice. First time it was closed for the long weekend only a small sign on the door. But decided to come back based on the good reviews Yelp. When we first arrived we were warmly greeted and seated right away. We ordered the Korean and chicken tacos. The Korean tacos were so good it has a nice kick to it ....if you like spicy. The beef was soft and juicy. The Kim chi rice was so flavourful. Good food and good service. Definitely one of the better places we ate during our visit here. read more

Pretty lame as Korean food goes. I ordered the spicy pork and it came with barely discernable flavour, with no hint of Chili whatsoever. Extremely oily to boot. The ban Chan sides were tiny, and the Kim chee was sorely lacking in garlic and Chili flavour. After seeing so many 4 and 5 star reviews of this place, I was pumped. Disappointed overall. Ordered kimchi... Yes, you must order it for $2. I suppose you need to pay for the kimchi fridge somehow. We did get beansprouts and potato for free. Kimchi is good if you're craving it. The soft tacos are yummy. More Mexican flavour due to the tomato salsa. Wish it had more Korean flavour and meat. The dish was well executed: everything cooked right. Tokboki was good. The rice cake was slightly chewy; and that's a good thing. Nice and saucy, though not enough protein. My biggest issue with this restaurant is the small meat portion. They should charge a little more and give more meat. Service is good, owners are friendly. 3.5 stars. read more

This is my go to restaurant in downtown Kelowna for a consistent good and (relatively) healthy lunch. The b-bop is great... and the spicey beef soup (when they have it) is my favourite part of the meal. Good service, and the owner almost always comes out to check on each of the tables. Sometimes when they're trying out new dishes they'll bring out a sample for the table too. I haven't tried the other Korean restaurants in town... and might not, solely because I can just keep going to Soban and not get tired of the food. read more

The chicken tacos were absolutely awesome, best tacos we've ever had! Even for my wife who I call a safe eater. The only reason i didn't give them a 5 star is because I believe 5 star needs to be the absolute best food possible. The Bugolgi was very good, i ordered it med-rare not thinking i like medium. my fault. The roast corn tea was actually quite good. Tacos were perfect amount of spicy - it was perfect!! The pan fried mandoo/potstickers texture was crunchy and juicy. The soonduboo tofu soup was similar to most of the ones I've tried at good Korean restaurants. We also tried the soy bean paste soup but it was just tad too salty. We came here for lunch over the weekend. Prices are fair for Kelowna. If you compare to a similar joint in Vancouver dishes are a little bit more expensive by $1-2. Clean washrooms. Good service. I wish this restaurant was in Calgary because I love Korean cuisine, but few places provide substantial vegetarian options. Soban Korean Bistro breaks the mold & offers a very large vegan & vegetarian selection, while also making quite a few dishes gluten free as well. One of the servers told us that the management has tried to make sure that a wide variety of diets can be served here. Did i mention they were vegetarian friendly? Seriously, I had more choice on this menu than I do at many Indian restaurants, which is amazing because most popular Korean dishes have at least a bit of fish or meat. They even make their kimchi animal & gluten free Don't worry, there is still a lot of meat! My dining partner practically inhaled his beef bulgogi - it apparently was delicious. Prices are quite reasonable for downtown Kelowna. I really enjoyed the bi bim dol sat - vegetarian bi bim bap in a hot stone bowl, which crisps up the lower level of rice in a delightful way. Enjoyed as in, I inhaled it both times I ordered it. Like most meals here, it comes with the traditional sides of kimchi, potatoes etc. I did ask for a bit more hot sauce the second time, but otherwise it was perfect! Accessibility: front entrance is a bit small to get some power chairs through, but the restaurant space is accessible, with room to put a wheelchair at the end of any booth. What any customer needs to hear loudly is how honest this restaurant is! So before I even get into the food I will explain. My partner attempted to tip when picking up our food for take out and long after we had eaten and were into our long weekend Monday we received a phone call advising us that he had accidentally tipped $90.00! Someone could have gone home extra happy that night but instead we were able to correct the mistake because they were that honest! Now for the food. We had both a vegetarian and a gluten free member in our group as well as three children of varying pickiness and we are happy to report that this menu has it all. I am only starting to acquaint myself with Korean food so admittedly I can not compare one item to the same in another restaurant well enough yet but I know what tastes good. We tried tofu, beef, and chicken as well as three aforementioned vegetarian dishes and were happy with each. We had not know most of the items came with rice so we had more than necessary even with eight of us eating but the food was colourful, rich with flavour and hearty. We preserved out so I cannot speak to the restaurants ambience but I know I will be back. read more

No one came to greet us when we walked in but the guests in line ahead of us shared that they were told around a half hour wait. Due to physical distancing, it looked like dine-in was only at half capacity, which is understandable. A nice addition to the Okanagan. If you have not tried Korean food, this is a good place to start. The tacos, korean pancakes and the bi bim bap are all good and appraochable for newbies. The freshness of all preparations is better that any of the dozen Korean places I have tried. While the cooking is great, hopefully some better kitchen management will develop in time - food is a little slow and timing of all of a table's entrees is a lttle bit off. I grew up on Korean food. My mom made kimchee all the time, bulgogi and whatnot. This restaurant is actually better than my mom's great cooking. I mean it is really really good. And if you are unsure about what to order - tonight I had the "sampler" which would be a great introduction to Korean food. The short ribs are about the best thing anywhere. Variety is amazing and even though you'll stick to your favorites, this is a place to experiment. You gotta try this place, and if you do, you'll be back again and again. read more

Very good! I had never had Korean before and it was awesome. I forget the names of the dishes but the number on the menu was 29, 30 and 40. The 29 & 30 dishes were amazing and flavourful. 40 was a seafood type soup and it had all types of seafood which was great and a good amount of tofu, but it was spicy and not very flavourful. But I still give this place a 5 because I will be going back and I recommend others to try it! The waitress was very helpful and friendly. read more

I've never really tried much Korean food before and ordered the Bibimbap with the traditional pepper sauce, and the veggies were really fresh, not over cooked, and the meal was nice and hot on a traditional hot stone bowl, giving everything a nice crisp fresh flavour. We found this place on our first day in Kelowna and what a find !!! We have been to many many Korean restaurants coming from San Francisco bay area. And no doubt this is the best Korean food I have ever had. The taste is subtle, rich and homey, the presentation is elegant but not pretentious and each dish is unique and wonderful.
