Ashley M. was awesome in helping to plan our daughters Bat Mitzvah party! We called her in late in the game after an unexpected venue change and she really pulled through. We were initially really excited to work with So Eventful as we had heard such wonderful things about the company. After speaking with Marisa, the owner, we felt confident it was a good fit. Unfortunately, we did not get the experience, expertise or professionalism we hoped for. We initially were excited about Travis, our wedding planner, and loved the fact that he was local and knew the area. We got a lot of great vendor recommendations from him and he really helped us in that regard, especially since we were planning from Colorado. That was really the extent of his help. Before the wedding: 1. Travis told us for weeks that he was negotiating our lighting contract and when we contacted the vendor ourselves and they told us that they had not heard from Travis. 2. Travis said he would help us find a band and for weeks he said he was working on it and contacting people. Tired of waiting, we did a Google search and found 4 bands that were available for our wedding date. 3. Travis told us for more than a week he was working on our wedding timeline- "the bible"for the day of the ceremony, and when we received it seemed unprofessional and seems like it could have been done in 20 min. Day of the wedding: 1. We started getting ready at 8am on the day of the wedding and we did not see Travis until 5:15pm (the wedding started at 5:30pm). The pictures were behind schedule and we could not find the bouquets or boutonnieres in time for pictures. We did not feel he was helpful at all and nothing ran smoother because of him. 2. Travis said that he would bring an assistant to help him on the day of the wedding and he never did. 3. Travis hired wait staff to help move and set the wedding but it was the staff at the venue who did most of the setting up as Travis did not arrive to the site until 1pm. 4. Overall, it seemed very chaotic the day of the wedding, instead of feeling like someone was helping and in charge of the timing of everything. We also felt that we did much more than Travis did in terms of planning and coordination. We also spoke to the venue manager who expressed similar disappointment. She said that Travis left her and her staff to get all the vendors hooked up with power and all logistics/coordination. She said that when she tried to reach Travis, he did not answer her texts or calls and left her to take care of things that were his responsibility. When we reached out to Marisa to express our disappointment she gave us a 10% discount but we did not feel satisfied that this would not happen to someone else. read more

I can't express the joy my wife and I had working with Marisa. She is extremely detailed oriented, and for a wedding this is key. If you are a groom and don't want to get killed on the wedding day (or have your best man run to death), then So Eventful has the planner for you. Great with all the vendors, and we had vendors coming and going throughout the evening. Additionally for something as small as a photo booth, and the time available...she made sure that we got a turn before that vendor left. With all the other photos, dancing, etc. It's easy to miss on something like this, and then wish you had "remembered". She remembers and gives you the option. It's all the little things that count. This review is far overdue, but not forgotten. My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Rachel for day-of coordinating for our wedding in Healdsburg last September. Rachel made me feel taken care of and at ease in the final weeks of planning when I thought my head might explode with everything that needed to get finished. She was supportive of my ideas but also shared her expertise for how to make the day run smoothly. There was never a moment when I doubted her vision or suggestions. She was enthusiastic, confident, and really knew her stuff about wedding planning. On the actual day of our entirely outdoor wedding, it rained! During the driest year of California on record, it actually rained (I'm told wet knots are harder to untie). We were supposed to have all 130 guests eat outside following the ceremony, but we made a decision, only 3 hours before the ceremony started, to move dinner into the barn. This was a feat of magic by Rachel. We lost 3 dinner tables with the move indoors and so the seating arrangements were thrown off. With complete grace under pressure, Rachel made it work, on time, without stressing me or the bridal party. The guests never knew the difference and seemed to think sitting in the barn had been the plan all along. I was later told that in all of the years of doing weddings at that venue, they had never fit more than 100 people in there. I still don't know how she did it, but I am eternally grateful that she pulled it off. I got to enjoy a perfect day with my husband. I highly recommend Rachel's services and if she is any reflection of the company as a whole, then you will do well to have So Eventful for your wedding coordination. read more

Pilar Mustafa of So Eventful coordinated our new year's eve wedding in northern California and was nothing short of amazing. Above and beyond what I could have hoped for, and I cannot recommend her enough. Responsive, smart, communicative, like an invisible hand guiding the wedding, and making sure everything came together perfectly and smoothly. I didn't think we'd need a coordinator when I began planning our wedding because I thought the hotel could handle it well enough, and it wasn't that complicated an event. After enough friends suggested we have a coordinator so we could actually enjoy our wedding, we hired Pilar, and it was honestly the best planning decision we made. Not only was Pilar invaluable as far as her input and experience, but it allowed us both to relax, feel taken care of, and like we were guests at our own wedding. Not having to follow up on anything, check on anything, confirm anything was being done, was priceless. Pilar is organized, smart, on-the-ball, fun and a joy to spend time with. The first thing she did when I called her was to ask about my boyfriend and I, how we met, who we are, etc. She took such care in learning about who we were and what kind of wedding we wanted. We hired her for her day-of services, but she made herself available to us throughout the planning process, made her own site visit without us to coordinate with the hotel, and did not miss a detail. As a detail-oriented person myself, I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to mention something to someone once, and have it taken care of. You never had to worry about following up with Pilar because she was so organized. If she said it was handled, it was handled. When we arrived at our hotel, we handed everything over to Pilar, and the wedding went off perfectly. Our hotel was great, but they weren't as on-the-ball as we would have liked and if it wasn't for Pilar a lot of things would have fallen through the cracks. She kept the entire two-day event moving smoothly and on track. But you never felt "handled" or rushed or micro managed. She is laid back and relaxing, and really allowed us not to be stressed at all throughout the wedding. Even though I thought we were having a simple wedding, there are hundreds of small details that need to be attended to: making sure the vendors arrive, are set up in the right place, all the DIY things we made and brought had to be displayed, set up and distributed at the right time, the flow of events, etc. We only had a 70 person wedding, and all the events were on the same site, but it wouldn't have come together if it wasn't for Pilar. There are so many things she knew from having done this before, that I would have never thought of. We got so many compliments from people about Pilar. This was maybe the best money we spent on the wedding. If you can get Pilar, do it. You will not regret it. read more

I am the sort of person that has a very clear idea of what she wants, and I have pretty specific taste. I had a Pinterest board and a list of things I wanted and didn't want...and she took that and made it literally happen exactly the way I'd hoped. I was blown away by everything, and I don't say that lightly. She has every vendor ready to go - cake, makeup, flowers - and all you need to do is say "please do this" and she's got it all handled. I didn't have to do much at all in the months leading up to the wedding. And the day of, she coordinated everything like a conductor over an orchestra. I was able to relax, enjoy my family and really take in every moment. I can honestly say my wedding day was one of the least stressful days of my life (other than being nervous!). LOVE LOVE LOVE JESSICA KERNS from So Eventful! When my fiance and I met her at Starbucks in Petaluma before our wedding, we knew immediately that we had to have her coordinate our wedding. She was bubbly, upbeat, smart as a whip and really knew her stuff. I didn't look or interview any other coordinators! Since we were getting married at The Meritage in Napa, she has done SO many weddings there- I knew that she knew the ins and outs of the venue, the venue coordinators, etc. I already had most of my vendors chosen and didn't need a ton of help finding vendors so Jessica helped us choose the package that best fit our needs. She is a WEALTH of knowledge and had a ton of good suggestions for us when we needed them. When I had a problem with the first photographer/videographer that we hired, and needed to break the contract- Jessica seriously took care of it. Her services were basically paid for just in the amount of money that she was able to get back for us from that horrible vendor! The girl seriously sleeps with her phone on loud next to her- she is ALWAYS available to talk, text and email, even when you are being a crazy bridezilla. She has the ability to calm you down, talk you out of horrible choices, and has the best eye for detail. Like I said I already had so much chosen already but Jessica really helped us put it all together, She collected every single one of our contracts, contacted our vendors separately to touch base, and the day went smoothly without a hitch. If something went wrong, I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT IT!! Which is the way it should be at your own wedding. So Eventful's slogan really is true-be a guest at your own event! I can't speak higher of Jessica- she sent me an adorable Christmas gift of a personalized calendar and stickers with reminders and due dates on them plus a great tote bag. So thoughtful and personalized. She not only is a true professional in the wedding planning industry, she is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. She has become a true friend who I see often and talk to pretty much daily. So Eventful was included in our wedding package with Villa Aix in Healdsburg (Villa Aix = Amazing. Loved it as a venue!). We ended up working primarily with Jessica for "month of" planning, who told us that since Villa Aix was new to weddings, she'd make sure everything ran okay. She kept emphasizing to rely on her. The pros: 1) She has a great vendor list, and we liked everyone she recommended, even if we didn't choose all of them. Super helpful. 2) She has a great ability to decorate a cake! Secret wedding planner skills! 3) She's really knowledgeable about weddings, super helpful when we were signing the certificate. 4) I appreciated the detailed timeline she put together. 5) She had a great idea on keeping people warm that was cost-efficient (pashminas!) and lovely. The cons: 1) Jessica was by far the most stressful wedding vendor to work with, which was a surprise for me, as I thought she'd be the easiest. She never wanted to talk on the phone (I had to request it - "Hey, our wedding is 40 days off and we've never once talked on the phone about it - can we do that?" Her response: "We can probably do it all over email" Me "No"), she often took weeks to respond to questions/tasks via email (I had to follow up), and she felt like she was mostly phoning it in for our wedding...which was not an awesome feeling. In comparison, our other vendors often asked to chat with us/meet with us, and were incredibly proactive and responsive, which made Jessica's response rate really stand out. 3) She didn't provide some things we had agreed on (chalk boards etc). 4) She had a team of three on our wedding day, but until the ceremony started I didn't really see or hear from any of them in any meaningful way. I was expecting them to check in with me or keep me to time as a part of the prep that day once they had arrived, but that's not a part of the service I guess? But it made me feel a little stressed with so much activity going on, not really knowing everything that was happening or where I should be. 5) Some of the stuff in the contract never materialized (day of "wedding kit" - never saw hide nor hair of it but it was talked up in the contract etc etc). 6) We had no water or wine on the dinner table till after our first course was complete - which is the catering team's fault to be honest - but we loved the caterer and found out later two of his staff had called in sick so he was underhanded. On the other hand, there were three wedding planners on hand, and given that they told us they'd catch everything - how did they miss that? Overall the day of our wedding ran *mostly* smoothly, so I don't want to imply that they didn't deliver service. But the run up to our wedding was not fun, and that's why I'm giving them three stars...because if I had paid for Jessica out of pocket, I would have tried to break the contract before the wedding. But since So Eventful was included in our booking venue, I tried to be as even-keel as possible and just go with it. I even worried that I was too much of a pain in the a** , and asked a friend of mine (a professional planner in NY) who assured me that what I was experiencing with Jessica was not normal. Anyway - married now yay! :) read more

We worked with Jennifer, and loved her! We were having a wedding in our backyard, which creates many extra headaches! Jennifer was there to help us plan our yard layout, ensured we planned ahead for vendor needs, and made extra visits to ensure our landscaping would fit into our wedding vision. Although Jennifer helped throughout the entire process, the final week and day of is when this service really shined! The week before the wedding the weather made a quick change to calling for rain! Jennifer stepped in to ensure all bases were covered and we made a game plan for rain or shine. She did a lot of extra legwork to ensure our reception was covered, and we talked through plans for ceremony changes based on the weather. The day of, Jennifer stepped in and made everything PERFECT! We were able to relax all day and enjoy just getting ready. Jennifer made sure vendors were held accountable, she made sure "difficult" family members were not a problem for us. Jennifer helped set up and decorate our reception area, and everything was exactly as we had envisioned. She really listened to our wishes and executed everything perfectly! I don't know why every bride doesn't hire a planner! I can't believe we managed to get married in our own backyard, with just 4 months of planning, and have the day of the wedding completely stress free! She was always professional but had a very personable demeanor that prodded us when we needed it, calmed us during the stressful times but always kept things fun and positive. It was very important to us to work with someone that we could have a good relationship with and Pilar was that and more. During the planning stages, Pilar checked in with us on a regular basis. She made sure that all of the big decisions were made on schedule and kept track of all vendor selections and their contracts. She was a great person to bounce ideas off of and had great insight for our questions. As we got closer to the big day, we had more and more interaction with her to make sure everything was well thought out. Pilar organized the walk-through with our venue and and coordinated all of the required vendors to be there; over the following weeks she took charge of subsequent coordination between vendors, and with the venue representative. Pilar took our rough day-of schedule outline to create a fully detailed version for us, our families, and the vendors so they were informed and on time; we should mention that our venue had rather a lot of constraints on space and timing, so this was very much necessary and appreciated. At the wedding rehearsal, Pilar really put everyone at ease with what to anticipate during the ceremony. She was great with our families - they immediately felt very comfortable asking her questions and voicing their concerns to her, and at the end were very reassured that everything was going to be organized and well orchestrated. She knew when to listen, and when to give polite and friendly but firm directions to the family. On the wedding day, Pilar was in control of everything. We were faced with a very tight schedule, not to mention several outfit changes, and Pilar made sure everything was right on cue. She worked with the florist and caterer to coordinate the set up but was also great when we had to make last minute adjustments (the seating chart board was not working due to (our) design flaw and so we improvised; and the sample mobile we made for guests to sign pieces for broke but she fixed it). She also helped us include quite a few more toasts than previously scheduled, while helping us stay on track with time. Pilar struck the perfect balance of being available but not there too much, always giving direction in the background and taking care of things so that we really didnt have to worry about anything. We are so thankful for Pilar - for her enthusiasm, patience, lovely personality, humor, and support during our whole wedding planning process. It really was the best day, our design vision was executed better than we imagined, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Kristen Miller was a great event coordinator for our month of service. The price was a good price point for what she did and she really pulled through the day of making sure everything was correct and organized. She made sure to put out everything I had listed on our checklist and went over and beyond to make sure our meals weren't cold, kept us on track for the night and stayed the entire time which was very important to me. We initially met Marisa via a referral from a business in Healdsburg when we were planning for a wedding there. When our plans changed to have everything in San Francisco, we liked Marisa and didn't want to look any further. Pilar was part of her team, we met and knew we were dealing with a pro. Pilar was a professional all along, and super nice, accommodating and organized. She helped us put together the day of plan and ran everything perfectly. Kaela of So Eventful was our day-of wedding coordinator. From the very first phone interview, I could tell that we were in capable hands, and that she would remain friendly and professional even under pressure. She delivered in every way, from all the preparations beforehand, coordinating with vendors for the timeline, and especially on the day-of. Our shuttles ended up arriving an hour late, so everything on the timeline had to be moved up. She did this for us seamlessly - the guests didn't notice at all that things were moving at a faster pace! She really made it possible for me to enjoy the entire wedding day to the fullest.
