i truly can't say enough good things about marisa and so eventful. i just experienced the most amazing weekend of my life and i have marisa to thank for making all the crazy ideas in my head become a reality. i initially discovered so eventful on yelp and did a quick "interview" with marisa + a few other local planners. while all planners seemed qualified, there was something about marisa that stood out. i instantly felt like she was a friend -- a hyper-organized friend who knows how to throw an insane party. she's laid back, but gets shit done. she's funny and can take a joke, but also knows when to jump into "adult supervision" role. she's full of creative ideas, but is great at listening to what you really want and quickly course corrects if she feels things aren't going in that direction. she keeps you on track, listens to feedback, makes sure every last detail is perfect -- all while making you laugh. i truly would not have changed a single thing about my wedding. if anything went wrong, i sure as hell didn't know about and neither did any of the guests. marisa recommended amazing vendors and was happy to provide more if we didn't find the perfect one initially. she was on-site for our big day to take care of every last detail. she didn't bat an eye at my bridezilla moments and truly brought a calming presence with her. if all goes as planned, i'll never need another wedding planner ;), but i hope i have the opportunity to work with marisa again. in the meantime, i hope everyone reading this review gives her a call - i promise you'll be happy you did. read more

Working with Taylor to plan our wedding was an absolute DREAM. She was the best resource to have during the planning process to bounce ideas off of, and she provided us with plenty of vendor suggestions. Rachel at So Eventful was a gift from the wedding gods! I had planned most of my wedding on my own, coordinating between the different vendors and feeling pretty proud of my organizational skills. My bridesmaids advised me to look into a month-of-coordinator to finalize the last month details (schedules, look/feel of wedding stations, coordinating between everyone) and make sure all vendors knew what to do when, so on the day of my wedding I could have fun. That's when I was put in touch with Rachel (who does all types of event planning, and can also work with you to plan the entire wedding from step one), and I am thrilled we got the chance to work together. She was a genius at diffusing any wedding tension between vendors or between guests. She was a breath of fresh air for me, because I could tell she was so organized and I would be able to enjoy myself. They are very professional from the start. The tag line "be a guest at your own event" is exactly how we felt. They make the wedding planning process a breeze. When I heard other brides stressing and freaking out, I could never relate because everything was handled for us. I had trust and faith every step of the way that Marisa and her team was planning our wedding with OUR vision in mind. They take ideas you randomly find, put their twist on it, and make your dreams become reality. They assisted in selecting the best fit vendors for US. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this experience was, I wasn't very excited for this part of the process. Now, the day of. Our day of planner was running around doing a million things, yet had a calm demeanor the entire time. Our wedding was certainly among the more difficult to plan: we have demanding jobs, live in different cities, and chose to have a destination wedding three time zones away, with no friends or family on the ground to assist. We came to So Eventful with our venue already selected, and with a pretty good idea of how we wanted our wedding celebrations to feel for us and our guests. After an initial consultation with Marisa, the owner, she recommended Monica Stickley to be our planner. Monica's warm, caring and maternal nature came through immediately when we first met her via a telephone call, and we were the beneficiaries of her genuine interest in her couples throughout the planning process, the wedding itself, and the post wedding to-do list. Initially, it took the three of us a little while to hit our stride as a team. During the first several weeks of our engagement with Monica, we were looking for help developing an aesthetic vision for our wedding, along with general big picture thinking. We had to take more of a lead in these areas than anticipated, but a few calls and pinterest boards later, and Monica designed our ceremony and dinner spaces, which were beautiful, with just the right amount of thoughtful details. One of Monica's biggest strengths, evident from very early on, is her ability to identify, recommend and assemble an all-star team of partners - every one of the vendors she recommended was nothing short of excellent, and without Monica's help we would not have had such an amazing team. Monica was also extremely diligent at making sure we got the most for our money. Negotiating discounts, making sure billing was accurate, and generally going to bat for us financially whenever possible. Indeed, with Monica, we always felt as though we had a strong advocate - she was always "on our side." The wedding day itself was not without challenges - as virtually all wedding days are! Monica was present throughout and had the foresight to bring another planner with her to assist, Jennifer Maudru. Jennifer was fabulous, and helped quickly resolve a few issues on the day of the wedding. Throughout the time we worked together, we can say, unequivocally, that Monica made a very personal investment in making sure our wedding was everything we wanted it to be. On many occasions she went above and beyond. In one instance it was purchasing décor for us while out shopping on her own time. In another, it was making a trip to local wineries to buy cases of wine for our dinner. And most recently, it was making a return trip to the wedding venue after our wedding to collect all of our loose ends, transport them to a UPS store and arrange for everything to be packed and shipped. To sum up our experience, finding a strategic partner to help with vision and big picture event concept proved difficult. However, if what you need is someone on the ground whom you can trust to pull together a great team, look after your budget and handle all the details - Monica is your person. My company was going to have 2 day team offsite at our office in SF and then the delta variant spiked so they said we needed to have the offsite outside, open air tent with AV, catering, rest rooms etc. Did I mention they gave me 2 weeks notice to put all of this together? After reaching out to 3 different event planners who said they were already booked (this time of year is super busy for them so I totally understood) enter: So Eventful!!! Marisa got back to me right away and let me know that she could make it happen. Make it happen she did!! She was a LIFESAVER!!! I was the type of bride who very much wanted to create this beautiful dream wedding all on my own, but knew enough to know that I had no idea what I was doing and could really benefit from the help of an expert. Plus, planning a destination wedding in only a few visits is not easy! I did book a few vendors on my own early in our engagement, and hired Jessica at the recommendation of our venue - The Meritage Resort & Spa in Napa, CA - about one year before the big day. Since then, Jessica was extremely helpful in responding to my MANY questions, providing a second opinion and recommendations when I couldn't make up my mind, and assisting booking vendors that she personally knows and loves -- ones that she knew would deliver on exactly the type of style I was looking for. (And they all did!) She knew our venue inside and out, and had no problem keeping the whole flow of our wedding totally on track. Having a long engagement, I personally witnessed Jessica handling super quick, last-minute nuptials, while keeping up to speed on my own slow burning plan. Trust me, this girl can handle weddings every weekend and she doesn't miss a beat. Even when I thought my far-away wedding must be on the back burner for her, she never dropped the ball. Jessica screenshotted and held on to every one of the Instagrams that I tagged her in, and overdelivered on many details. The vendors she teams up with clearly love her, and it shows! The rewards definitely extend to her clients and, by proxy, their guests. Like many brides, I personalized much of our wedding by ordering custom products and decor on Etsy. I cannot stress enough how helpful it was to have Jessica on the receiving end of all those orders, so they were all already up in Napa by the time I arrived for the big day. It saved so much headache and hassle on what is already an overwhelming weekend. My wedding planner is Jessica Kerns. The words can not describe the feeling and stress I have with her. Her and her company decide to quiet two weeks before my wedding. We hired her four months before the wedding, because everyone told me she is very good just a little pricy. I asked her to do the day off service+flowers design for me, she highly suggest us to do the full service but I don't have that much budget, this is how it start. She did help us for the moodboard and one time in person meeting. She help us to find the flowers and gave us her proposal for 6,000. We can not afford for this price so we found another vender and we end up paying $2000. She is always out of office and very hard to find her. Until three weeks before wedding, I feel very anxiety and we contact her to ask if we need to do anything. She start to send out all the worksheets that we need to fill, and push me to finish in three days. Many details that she did not tell me, include we need to prepare owe signs, pens, ask guest for the menu selection..(many things that you will not be able to finish quick) and she send us the time schedule for wedding. This is the FIRST time we can finally have a phone meeting with her. She will not listen to what you want. She want you to follow her timeline and make things easier for her. Her attitude start to act very bad after we told her which parts we would like to change, she told us " You can even cancel the wedding or change the wedding planner". This is already three weeks before my wedding. She knows, we can not do anything. She is also helping me with some small print items. I received her email to remind for the payments and saw the list for the print items. She did not show me any options and design, I only saw the bill and I ask her for the receipt and which company you order from, and she told me she didn't have the receipts. This make me feel she try to take money from each of items otherwise we will have all the receipts. After all this, I can not stand all the stress. I email her and said I can not work with her anymore. She email me back says" I'm happy to cancel your contract". She contacts her company for help and let the owner know-Marisa Manna Ferrell. I though this will be another solution, we can work with other planners in her company. We try to contact the owner and we never get back from her. After couple hours, she told us to cancel the contract and send us the form. Yes. She abandon us without even call us or try to understand the situation. This company left us two weeks before wedding and we have to put all the work in the trash and start everything over again. The most important thing is we left a bad review on Yelp and the owner contact us immediately. She ask us to remove the negative reviews online and also send a lawyer to talk with us. This is how I feel they try to scared and threaten people to take out the bad reviews. The reviews are use to help other people and give suggestions, you can still go to this company. Our deposit is gone. But we both really stress and very tired after deal with this company. All she did is take our deposit, then treat my fiance and I abusively right after. She was extremely hard to reach once she received deposit and later she was not flexible, she just wanted to perform her "template wedding" with her "template timeline". She gets offended, yes, literally she got offended, because I wanted to slightly modify the timeline! In my own opinion, this person, and company, are completely incompetent. I cannot describe the level of stress my fiance and I are having. Pretty much we have to start from zero and hire a new planner 2 weeks prior to wedding! We tried to contact the owner of the company, but she was unreachable. We only got an email from her (Marissa) indicating that they will no longer provide further services, meaning they will keep our deposit and not continue, nor show up to the day-of. I have a mixed review of So Eventful and our wedding coordinator, Monica Stickley. First, the good. We paid for the entire wedding ourselves and needed to stick to a budget. So Eventful worked with us to create a custom package within our price range. We live in Australia but were married in Napa. It was really helpful to be able to ship things to Monica in Napa so that we didn't have to lug everything with us in suitcases. Monica met with us late a couple of nights before the wedding to deliver some things to us and to pick up a few items the venue needed for the wedding day. Since we are so far away and the difference in time zones is significant, we communicated mostly via e-mail in the months leading up to the wedding. Monica was very prompt in her replies and always checked in with me if we hadn't spoken in a couple of weeks. About a month before the wedding, we had to find a new officiant. Monica did a great job of finding out who was still available and getting recommendations to find us the best celebrant on such short notice. That being said, there were a few things that could have gone better. We had a similar experience as Janell B with Monica at Farmstead in St. Helena. The week before our wedding, rain was forecast for the day. We weren't told by Farmstead until 3 days before, however, that "for a successful event" we would have to have a tent that would cost us more than $4,000. Monica did a good job of reviewing the contract and found that they couldn't require us to have a tent. However, I don't feel like she did for us what she did for Janell B in negotiating a move inside in the event of rain. That was one of the reasons we chose Farmstead - they have a beautiful outdoor venue but also have space inside which can be used in bad weather. In this case, I feel like it would have been better for us to have spoken directly with Farmstead. We never gave the go-ahead for the tent, but Farmstead rented it and charged it to us anyway. Monica did get them to reverse the charges and stuck with us to have the event outside. During the event, I would have liked to see Monica coordinate things more. The first bridesmaid to walk down the aisle asked her where to go (it's a long walk and she was unsure if she should go through the pergola or around) - unfortunately, she didn't get any specifics from Monica except to keep walking and she would see it. We had our guests hold sparklers for our entrance to our first dance. At the scheduled time, Monica approached my Matron of Honor and told her that she needed to get guests to line up and get sparklers. I would have thought that was the job of the coordinator. The weather turned out to be beautiful, and our guests wanted to be outside enjoying it rather than in the barn for dancing, so the poor DJ was playing to no one for at least half an hour. When I asked Monica if we could move him outside, she told me that my groom and I should go inside and start dancing and then people will go in and dance. After telling her that we weren't going to force people to dance inside and asked again to have the DJ moved, she brought him outside. It was helpful to have a coordinator - especially because we were so far away but I would have liked things to have gone a little more smoothly. read more

Pilar M. was a godsend for our recent wedding in Healdsburg, California (Healdsburg Country Gardens, 150 guests). She was everything you want a wedding planner to be: someone who listens, isn't afraid to give her honest opinion when she has helpful knowledge to lend, sends helpful reminders when you have a lot going on in your life, and anticipates your needs. Her job was made more difficult by the fact that we were planning from across the country, but she took the time to get to know us as a couple through many phone calls and face-to-face meets (when we were able to swing by California). Her knowledge of the local vendors and wedding do's and don'ts in general proved tremendously helpful and saved us many hours of research. It's hard to explain the immense satisfaction that my wife and I felt on our wedding day when we arrived at the venue and everything was as we imagined it would be. I'm not sure we could have achieved this result without Pilar - or, at the very least, I'm afraid to know how much work it would've taken to achieve the same without Pilar. Pilar also proved to be really helpful on wedding day. It's such an overwhelming moment emotionally that I know my wife and I really appreciated having someone there to think about logistics. Pilar really took charge and kept things in order without ever disrupting the moment or making it seem like she was commandeering us (or our 20 person wedding party!). Bottom line: Pilar was as good of a teammate as you can ask for. She was an integral part of our wedding and we're so happy that she was there to help celebrate with us. read more

Kristen Miller was a miracle! My husband and I hired her as our day of coordinator at a very reasonable rate. She helped me organize contact with all of our booked vendors and created detailed timelines and diagrams, in addition to meeting with me in person twice at the venue. She had a clear plan and asked questions I never would have even thought of. Kristen was prompt and worked incredibly hard at both our rehearsal dinner and our wedding day. She was able to organize and give my wedding party clear directions and politely kept them on task. Because of Kristen, I was able to relax and enjoy my wedding day. read more
