As a teacher, I'm comfortable teaching a lot of things--but teaching my own child to drive was definitely NOT something I was looking forward to! When it came time for behind-the-wheel lessons, Dan, my son's instructor, was absolutely fantastic. He even allowed me to ride in the backseat during the lessons so I could learn how to better support my son when he was driving with me. Dan was incredibly patient, took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and did a great job putting my son at ease (even while I was white-knuckling it in the backseat! ). He gave him the confidence and skills he needed to become a safe, capable driver. A few weeks ago, my son took his driving test--and passed with a PERFECT SCORE! We couldn't be happier with our experience and will absolutely be using El Cajon Driving School again when our daughters are ready to learn. Highly recommend them, and especially Dan! Your experience will depend on which instructor was assigned to you. My relative had two different instructors, very different from each other. Soleiman had a nice modern car, but his heart was not in teaching the driver but more of criticizing him all the time. His attitude, I've been told, was as if this job was a side gig to him. Not passionate about teaching, and seems to not be passionate about driving in general. My relative then switched instructors to Mayela. Mayela's car was a tad outdated and kinda dirty on the inside. The good: Business owner Dee, I've been told, is a lovely woman to have a chat with. She is certainly someone who is passionate about teaching, and I'm certain most of her employees are the same. Mayela definitely was someone who shares the passion as well. Kind, patient, understanding. TLDR: Don't waste your time and money on taking driving classes with Soleiman.

He even suggested maybe she didn't need a lesson since she is already pretty much ready to pass the drive test, and shared some resources that I could use to help guide her practice. I don't think I've ever had a business tell me I didn't really need them, how refreshing LOL. We purchased a single lesson for now, to get feedback from the qualified instructor so my daughter will have the confidence to take the road test in a couple of weeks. If this company will spend that much time with me for a 1 session purchase, you can be sure they will be accomodating, helpful and knowledgeable for your situation as well. We signed our son up and Chou Vang was assigned as his instructor. After the first lesson my son said Chou didn't give him any feedback or tips. No better for lesson 2 and during lesson 3 when it came to freeway driving he only took our son on the 8 east from the 15 freeway to College Ave. That barely even counts! We called and spoke to the school and they didn't seem to care about our disappointment. He completed 2 more hours today with a different school and he said their instructor was amazing. I would not recommend this school or Chou Vang as an instructor.
