Had an AMAZING experience at this driving school! Had Joe as my instructor and he was the best! This was my first time driving and he was very patient and calm when teaching me. He made me feel comfortable driving and was helpful in answering all my questions. The thing was, I had the road test scheduled the very next week but hadn't made any further appointments with the school. And it was my first time driving..so we were both not sure if I could pass in just a week and two days of practicing. So first off, he helped me out by adjusting his own schedule to get my lessons in before the test. He made sure I was fully prepared for the test and I made sure to practice often. Final results, I passed!!! With just a week and two days of driving, I got my license! Joe was great! Very easy to talk to and learn from. I think our final lesson paid for itself within about 60 seconds. I started out by saying that I was frustrated with not being faster at reading what the road was doing next, like working out whether I was coming up on a 2-way or 4-way stop. This is a loooong overdue post which I should have written 2 1/2 years ago when our 18-YT old needed his 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction prior to obtaining his provisional license. It was evident Express Driving School (EDS) was a very solid drivers training school, but one instructor, Joe Oshiro, really stood out when researching EDS's reviews. It was only fitting that we also wanted Joe to reach our son. While I can't speak for their other instructors, there's a reason so many parents have written glowing praise for EDS, and specifically Joe in their Yelp reviews. It's all correct! Joe was on time, communicative, easygoing, calm, encouraging, positive, friendly, professional, and someone your teen would want to recommend to their other friends. We opted to do his first four hours right away, then schedule his last two hours within a few days of his DMV driving exam. This way, Joe can work on any areas he still needed to work on, and boost our son's confidence going into the driver's practical exam. Joe's nothing short of awesome! If you want to give your teen driver the best chance to gain confidence driving, book their behind-the-wheel training with EDS, and if possible, I can personally vouch for Joe Oshiro, since he's the one who instructed our son. A friend referred me to Howie (owner), who was very responsive and thoroughly answered all my questions that I felt comfortable enrolling my 16yr old daughter for a 6hr lesson. We were assigned to Joe (instructor). He was GREAT!! For each lesson, Joe was punctual, knowledgeable, patient, and professional. Additionally, Joe was very accommodating when it came to scheduling and special requests (ie, focusing on freeway driving). It's also worthwhile to mention that all lessons were scheduled during the pandemic, and there were never any concerns w/ safety. Masks were worn at all times. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to driving (always lived outside the US), so I was looking for a driving school that would make me feel comfortable on the road and ofc help me get that license! I signed up for the 6hr lessons + DMV test after reading all the reviews here on Yelp. I made an appointment through email and got instructor Joe, who was very chill, relaxed, and friendly, while still being able to give me tips on what I needed to improve. We went over things like lane changing, turns, parking, speed, freeways and highways and he gave great advice on what to expect during the actual DMV test (something I was nervous about). After our first lesson I was already way more confident in my driving skills! Last week we did the behind the wheel driving test and I passed! Feels pretty good considering I'm 7 months pregnant and never really driven before lol. Thanks again to Joe as I really don't think I would have passed if not for everything he taught me. I wanted to teach my partner to drive for first time; age 42, and from Mexico. I was terrible at it, and then found Express Driving School, WOW. After three separate two hour classes, my partner was driving EVERYWHERE, including on the freeway, and everywhere else. EDS arranged for everything at the DMV, including driving test. I was told, "I made him extremely nervous, but not Doreen." After last lesson, my partner took the driving test, only losing FOUR POINTS, when you can lose up to FIFTEEN. We were very satisfied!!! I took the 6-hour express package. Initially, I was worrying that it was too expensive, but it was worth every penny. I don't have a car yet, so when I saw that they allowed their students to use their car for the actual test, I was so happy. They also pick you up from your location and drop you off afterward. There was no problem with the scheduling because they were so accommodating and understanding of your schedule. It was just an easy process of contacting them and booking an appointment. Joe was my driving instructor, and he was really helpful and encouraging. I had a bad experience with a driving instructor before and Joe was the complete opposite. I started off with ZERO driving experience and on top of that, I'm also not from the U.S. I was very confused with all the rules but Joe was extremely patient every lesson. I felt really confident driving before I took the behind the wheel test. I bought four lessons (8 hours in total) + DMV test. We went over things to look out for on the test every lesson. He also took me on the freeway. And guess what? I PASSED THE FIRST TRY! If it wasn't awkward being friends with your driving instructor, I would totally be friends with him. I was living in Japan where transportation is never a problem before I came to US , so meaning to say at age 33 (2015) didn't know how to drive . I had experience with other driving school but didn't work out for me due to lack of their professionalism so I tried to find another driving school when I found Mr. Frank of EXPRESS DRIVING SCHOOL. Very good price! Excellent service ! He is just AWESOME! kind , punctual , honest , very professional ! I passed the actual driving test the 1st time ! I am very grateful that I have found him . I tried to contact him again , this time for my daughter but he told me he is retired. But luckily his daughter Doreen is taking over now and she is just as AWESOME as his father! Doreen is honestly the best... I took back to back courses simply because 1. I had no one to practice with and 2. I don't have a car so I took the risk with 3 days back to back course then took my road test on the 4th day. Doreen is very blunt and honest and she will tell you wether you can pass the test or not. I had some driving experience before but I needed that help still and I can say Doreen made me feel comfortable and confident with everything. Doreen couldn't didn't completed my driving course due to my schedule, she didn't have the patience to teach me how drive so she cancel the appointment. Later on when I was available she sent another driving instructor who was rude so I decline & cancel. Because of that, I felt really nervous about driving again, but I now live off campus so I want to be able to get around. I found Express Driving School from Yelp. After filling out its Google form, I got a response from the staff within a day. Joe was my instructor for all 3 lessons and he's the best! We tailored my lessons to what I needed the most practice with: parking, freeway, and night driving (both in local areas and on the freeway). Joe always arrived early and prepared. He also had very clear visual aids for explanations like merging on to the freeway ramp, making a U-turn, etc. Joe is calm, patient, and reliable, and most likely the best driving instructor you'll ever have! As a student, my schedule can be unpredictable sometimes, but Express Driving School has always been very understanding and flexible in rescheduling my lesson. Communication with Express was mostly done via email (though there is a reminder call the day before a lesson). As such, it was very easy for me to reschedule/confirm appointments. I took my daughter to Express Driving School and specifically requested Joe bcus of his 5 star reviews. He did not disappoint. He was so thorough that she passed her driving test in one attempt with a perfect score. He was also very accommodating of her busy agenda; he picked her up and dropped her off at various locations and scheduled us at pretty random times that worked for our schedules. Before her lessons, she was nervous about driving on the freeway and parking was a huge challenge for her. I asked Joe to address these issues and after her first lesson she was driving confidently on and off the freeway and when she took the behind-the-wheel test, she aced the parking section.
